Default Thursday's Thoughts!

Good Morning chickies...wakey wakey... time to get up!

So it's rainy, so not bringing dogs for a walk this am (you all feel better? )... nope, instead I cleaned the kitchen and living room from the mess of toys and shredded paper the dogs did while I napped on the couch last night!

I did do personals last night! (just so you know)

trying to think of next week's menu. Might do Chili, as I haven't had that yet this season. Also want to try the squash soup everyone's raving about, so might do that instead. IDK.

Found out I'm to be a great aunt again... told my niece she keeps it up she'll pass gramma in the children's department (grams had 13 of us). she's 20 and this is child number three.... her oldest is 4 (and Tonya had only turned 16 two weeks prior to having her first... sad). I feel bad for the kids, but I can't do anything about it.

I am beginning to worry about my friends, I've left three messages in the last two months and they've not returned the calls. They are in their 60s and Bev is in bad shape.. I'm hoping everything is alright!

Anyway, enough doom and gloom.... bright side is.. cody continues to be a big hit! Another neighbor stopped me last night and kept me for about an hour loving on him! During our walk he picked up not one, but two sticks that were twice his size and carried them... that would of been funny, but he kept jamming them into my leg and Jade's side! ARG!

It's cloudy here right now, but the rain is moving in for the afternoon. I'm sitting here with my coffee and thinking about my day ahead.

ETA, Jake just called and said to meet him at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Apparently, his work crew is all going to be there.

BBL!

Good morning! It's supposed to be really cruddy weather today but, until it gets light out there, I am in denial. The house is cozy and Disney is cuddly. I threw a mess of stuff into the crockpot last night and the glorious smell of pea soup woke me. I just may have a bowl for breakfast - after coffee, of course!

Lori, I may be joining you as a two dog household. My friend Holly breeds Bolonkas and has one five month little boy who is lonely and needs a home. She is having trouble selling her dogs as they are such a rare breed and hopes that, by giving me one, they'll get more exposure. Taz short for Razamataz) is small and cute and just may be what Disney needs. Dogs like a 4-legged buddy.

This morning I am off to town to get my car certified for emission purity, a requirement before licence renewal. Then I'll pick up some bread and hope to be home well before noon when I'm expecting two cousins for lunch. Peter and Ian will need a hot lunch as they are going up to the Island to haul the boats out of the water for the winter. Brrrr! Pea soup should make them feel better. I may make an apple crisp for dessert if I have time.

Right now I need to do a quick tidy as Donna is coming to clean.

May your day be relaxing and full of comforting things like wood fires, pea soup and puppies.

________________

Morning, Cottage. When I come to visit you, we MUST go to Cracker Barrel. I have been there only once in my life and need to go again. Let's ignore the predicted cruddy weather and enjoy ourselves.

Attached is a picture of a Bolonka. This is an adult, not a puppy, and weighs seven pounds. Non-shedding. hypoallergenic and adults look like Portuguese Water Dog puppies! Can you see why I want one?

Cottage, enjoy breakfast!

Ruth! Now that I have two, my older dog has become so much more playful and it's such a joy to see them frolic! It's not that much more work since I walk both at the same time. My only thing is getting puppy to let me love on my older girl! LOL....

I'm all dressed up with no where to go. Just as I was leaving the house, Jake called back to say they got an emergency call and were off again. They thought since it's supposed to rain that they'd have a slow day. Oh, well, my oatmeal is just as good as theirs, if not better.

Ruth, you just know that Razz is coming to live with you! What a beautiful pup, and the perfect companion for Disney and you. Pea soup and apple crisp sound divine on a day like this! Do you have enough for me? I'll even be willing to help lift the boats.
I'll make sure to put Cracker Barrel on the must-do list when you come.

Good morning! I am so jealous speaking of apple crisp (not of pea soup though...although I haven't had that in 30 years!) !!

Lori - the pup sounds great! (aren't you glad you didn't get rid of him and pick up and move! PHEW!)

Cottage - WHOA! I think I would've gone without them, if I was already and set to go!! LOVE me some cracker barrel! Never mind the shopping!

Ruth - The pup is adorable! Never heard of the breed...have to look that one up! Sounds like a great match though.

All this talk of dogs, makes me want to get one (especially with all the running I do now...I'd have a companion!). But, alas, you know out of a household of 2 young children and a husband, who would take care of it right?!?!? Like I need more responsibility!!! I'm thinking in a year or two, DS should be ready to help....all young boys should grow up with a dog!

My day is same ole, same ole (which is good). I think I get to go in a little late, then the afternoon is packed. Placing a chicken in the crockpot for supper (I'll post the recipe if it's good!), and premade the brown rice a few days ago (I don't get home til after 7 on TH - kiddos can't wait that late!).

Hope my day is boring!

Loriann, funny about the sticks. We have a chocolate Lab and she LOVES to carry sticks around. Definitely the bigger they are, the more fun she thinks it is! Hope your friend is OK!

Linda, yay for Cracker Barrel! Have some yummy oatmeal for me, OK?! Oh dear, now I see you didn't get to go. Stay warm and dry!

That's one cute little puppy, Ruth! I'd have a hard time saying, "NO!" too. Hope you get home in time to make the crisp.

Twynn, hoping for a boring day for you, if that's what you want! Enjoy your crockpot chicken.

We're about to leave for violin lessons and martial arts. I don't know why I thought being busy would make the time go faster. It does, but I forgot about the stress factor of getting everyone out the door. I'm habitually late, not by a lot, but I need to work on that.

Got on the scale this morning to take a peek and that last pound slid off overnight. Yay! I think I'm going to make my next goal small so I can get there quickly and feel motivated.

Better get a snack before we leave, as we won't be back until late.

Tynne, for your sake, I hope your day is boring, too! I hope your chicken-in-a-crockpot recipe turns out good!

Kara, hooray for that final pound! Isn't it thrilling to KNOW you look good in your jeans?!!!

I just cooked up a spagetti squash and am making SCHMOODLE'S Deep Dish Spagetti Squash Pie. I made a variation of it, though. I had a little ricotta that I had to use up, so I mixed it in with the egg and parmesan. It will give it a little extra protein, which I have to make sure I'm getting enough of these days. I'll let you all know how it turns out tonight. Jake won't eat it, so I'm making him chicken and pasta.
Well, it's getting close to that time, so I'd better get my lunch together and get ready. We have another afternoon of crafting ahead, we have to paint our turkeys!

Lori - wow, three kids by 20...I don't know if I could have handled that. ****...I don't know if I can handle two at 28.

Wait...did I just say 28...oy.

Cottage - I was going to say have fun at breakfast....but....have a good time with your oatmeal? I love oatmeal

Ruth - cute puppy!! Apple crisp is one of my absolute favorites!

Twynn - hope you have a great day!

Kara - Yay on that last pound!! I was never a person to be late for anything until I had kids...I think it's understandable....sometimes they just don't cooperate!

-
Nothing on my agenda today besides the usual housework. The beef and barley soup was really good and I have a TON leftover....looks like we're going to have it for lunch and dinner again tonight.

Brought DH's car in to have the horn looked at (that hasn't worked since we last brought it to this shop - DH didn't want to deal with them breaking something again by bringing it back). They said that it was a problem with the airbag and told us that it has lifetime warranty and to bring it back to the dealership. Dealership told us no on the lifetime warranty and that it was a little cable that was broken and the only way it could have broken was if the rack for the steering had been disconnected somehow and the steering wheel turned a bunch of times (the last time we had the car serviced, guess what was being replaced...the rack and pinion). The dealership quoted $450 to fix it. DH got a quote and is going to call the original shop - I guess the man has been working on the family cars for years. I just hate not being able to find a reputable shop to service our cars in. We ended up spending $2500 for their last mistake (breaking the rack) and I'm not dropping another dime due to mechanic error. I absolutely refuse to do so....so....that is my dilemma. I hope they do the honorable thing because I would really hate to have to take it to the next step.

Rainy and dreary out...ick....
-----

ETA: Cottage, I see that you're making spaghetti squash. Question. Does anybody that you know of think it is bitter? I was going to use spaghetti squash the other night when DH told me he didn't like it because it was bitter...am I choosing ones that are too big? Old?

Glad you're having fun with the pups, Loriann!

Oooh, have fun at Cracker Barrel, Cottage! If your weather is like ours (doom and gloom with a side o' rain), it's a perfect day to cuddle up by the fire and having some decaf Earl Grey! Shame it didn't work out (just read your second post), but hopefully you and Ruth (and me too???) can go when Ruth comes to visit!)

Oh, sounds like such fun, Ruth! What a cutie that picture is--seems like such a fun breed! Like you said, four-legged buddies do things for dogs that we just won't, like sniff their behind. Plus they do a lot for us, too.

Here's a wish that your day is boring, Twynn.

I'm late a lot too, Kara. Congrats on the pound!

Hugs to everyone else...my boss is here today for a meeting, so can't type much. Hope you all have a great day and stay warm!

I don't have much on tap, just packing for me and the puppy for this weekend. I'm going to try to do just a carry-on on the plane--my first time. We'll see.

Good morning all!!! Happy Thursday!

Lori - You are a bevy of energy. Glad to hear things are going so well for you. I hope your friends are alright.

Cottage - Hope that oatmeal was yummy!!! I'm interested in the deep dish. Let me know how it turns out! Have fun crafting!

Ruth - Razz would be such a lovely addition to your group. Hope you're able to get everything done today. Enjoy your soup!

Twynn - Good job getting on top of things while you're going to be busy. Hope your day is boring for your sake, yet I hope also that it goes by quickly!

Kara - Congrats on the final pound for this mini goal. Hope you get all your kids to where they're supposed to be

Stephanie - Funny, I really don't feel comfortable with bare walls. Glad to hear that you got some pictures up. Good luck getting through your pile today!

Gonna - Glad to hear that you're feeling better.

Zeff - Hope you're able to get everything sorted out with the car soon. That sucks about it being due to a mechanical error. Good luck with it!

Me - Got some laundry done yesterday, I 'll need to do more over the weekend, but for now it's good. I really enjoyed the Thai curry I made for dinner last night, and there was plenty for leftovers today for lunch. That makes me happy Tonight Rich and I are headed to a restaurant to do a review. He's managed to arrange around 2 a month for the next couple of months, and I get to tag along. Should be lots of fun, but I need to mind my p's & q's.
Looking forward to watching Survivor tonight and catching up on more TV. Saw Biggest Loser last night......can't wait to see Viki go crazy next week. Should be interesting.
Have a great Thursday!!!
BLESSINGS!

Hi chicks, happy Thursday morning. It's gross and pouring buckets here this morning. Makes me want to do nothing. Well, tonight will be a runner, so hopefully this will stop by then. DD has basketball tryouts 5:30 - 7, then dance class 7:45 - 8:30. She'll have to get her homework done right away when she gets home from school, so we can eat and get out the door.

Otherwise all is calm. I'm feeling a little better since I have gotten a lot done this week.

DH called home last night. I read him his to-do list for when he gets here. Was that mean? I am saving all the leaf-raking for him. The car headlight is burned out. He's got to put on his IT hat and fix the kids' computer access situation. We need to run a new phone line in the house. The list goes on. If he really comes back now, we'll know he really missed us a lot! He has a to-do list for me too, but it doesn't bear repeating...

Oh, I haven't made that spaghetti squash thing for a while, wonder if DH would like it... Have to try it on him next week.

Have a good one chicks!
