Default Diabetes and SBD

I am really enjoying the SBD. I am losing weight and don't really feel deprived. So now my dad is thinking about trying it but he has diabetes. So does or has anyone had diabetes on this diet and did not hurt themselves by doing it? I know that he should consult his doctor but was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks
Menzy

Menzy, yes I am glad you said he would consult his doctor. Hopefully his doctor is familiar with the plan! My DH has diabetes, and SB has been the best thing that has happened to his blood sugar levels. SB is all about avoiding blood sugar spikes and depressions. It really keeps things in control for him.
We've got a couple of other SB chicks with diabetes, and I'm sure they will weigh in.

I'm diabetic (Type 2) and my bloodwork has actually improved since using this plan. Phase I is a bit tricky as you have to be sure to get enough carbs (milk and legumes) to avoid low BGL. Your Dad really must check with his doctor before making the change.

Type 2 Diabetic chiming in here. I had been on Atkins, and while it worked and my BGL stayed in line, I am actually 'enjoying' SBD better because I seem to have more variety in menu plans and can enjoy the same benefits of good health.

By all means, definitely have your Dad consult with his physician before going on this or any other eating plan.

Good luck in whatever he decides!
