Default Planning & Chat Feb. 25 - March 2

WOW! February is almost over. Spring is coming!

Can you hear that bathing suit (nasty thing!) calling from the back of your closet?

Anyone planning for the spring season yet?

Have a great week!

Red face That darn scale!

I know I've been off-plan many times in the past few weeks. I've been blaming all sorts of things for putting me there and avoiding the scale.

Reality check - I'm up 4 lbs in 2 weeks . I overate on Sat. night (birthday) and last night (Oscars) so I will give it 2 days before I change my ticker.

I always know when I'm gaining "real" weight. I'm still pretty good at ignoring that fact .

That will have to change. This is too hard to do all over again.

I can't believe that a few days of March are in this week! Time does indeed fly by.

This week? hmmm ... well, I'm working away with superfoods and need to be more consistant with keeping my calories down-ish. Cardio is lacking as usual.

Yes, I need to do much better this week. Note that last week was pretty TERRIBLE, so I'm more focused now and plan to have a healthy week!

Dagmar, I'm up as well, even though this is supposed to be my week to drop thanks to TOM. This past month I seem to be steadily gaining, and I'm getting really frustrated. When I'm perfectly on plan, I may drop a teeny bit... but when I'm not 100% great, I usually gain. It makes me wonder if my goals are attainable and if it's really worth counting every calorie I eat. For a few pounds, I might be better off just eating what I want (within reason)?

This week I'm going to try to beef up the exercise but not worry as much about my calories, especially since I have that tickle in my throat that means I'm about to get sick. I'm trying to fend it off with lots of protein, orange juice, etc.

I'm not afraid of my bathing suit! I just bought a couple of new ones, including a bikini, because I'm off to Los Cabos on Sunday! I was pretty surprised at how cute they looked on me; I look better in my bathing suite now than I did when I was in high school!

I've been running intervals every couple of days and still no problems with my knee. I'm thinking I might increase them from 15 min to 20 min (I've read in some other threads that 15 min isn't long enough). I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do more than 20 min at a stretch though--I get too bored. I wonder if it would be okay to do two 15 min sessions with abs in between.

I'm going out with friends for pedicures and dinner tonight, but the rest of the week should be POP in terms of food. I have several very low calorie lunches and dinners planned (and a couple even cooked already). We might go out to dinner Saturday night, since I'll be leaving the next day. But starting Sunday, all bets are off!

Scenestealer: With all the work-related functions that you have to attend where you have such limited control of your diet, maybe you do need to ease back on your goal a bit. You must look great at your current weight; you certainly look great in your picture. Have you figured out your body fat %? I've found that to be a helpful tool in knowing what is realistic for me in terms of further weight loss. Understanding Your Body Fat Percentage is an article that explains more about body fat and here are a couple of websites that calculate it using your body measurements: BBLex, freedieting.com.

My Tanita scale has a body fat monitor, which shows me hovering around 26%. I'd definitely like to fix that, but you're definitely right Dagmar - it's hard on the road! However, I'm in Boston until at least the end of April, and could be anywhere else after that, so if I want to lose weight, it's not like it will ease up in the future. Today is the day!

I'm in a bit better mood now. For lunch I went to the grocery store instead of to the regular restaurants, and picked up some frozen stuff to heat up in the microwave. I chose the Kashi Chicken Florentine and some Simply Steam veggies. I absolutely HATE cooking in plastic, and I know that these foods are just as processed as anything I'd find at a restaurant, but the chicken, rice, and veggies was very filling, so I'm happy.

Hello girls ...

Barbara -- lookin' good in a BIKINI lucky you ... Will you show us some vacation pics?

I'm going to post in the weekly thread early this week so that I don't get discouraged at having to read 20+ posts ... and then never ending up posting...

The month of February, foodwise, has also been AWFUL for me... I want to, at the very least, finish this month at the same weight as when I started it... So I have to get crackin' ... Exercise has been good though, thank goodness for that!

Had a bad night last night. After supper DH went to Dairy Queen. I caved and had a medium chocolate sundae in a waffle cup with peanuts too. Felt really bad after I ate it. I got back on track today. Had a good day today.

I'd like to see calorie counts posted with all things available in any fast food restaurant . I know that, after seeing that I was about to consume an entire day's worth of calories in one menu item , I would probably stop to think about it. Maybe long enough to step away from the sundae

Red face The batteries in your scale

In order to prevent ourselves from going into shock when weighing in it's a good idea to put some kind of note on the scale about when to replace the battery .

I know I was off plan during the weekend but, getting on the scale and seeing 137 was a shock!

This morning, after being OP for 1 day, I registered 122. 15 lbs. in one day!

Time for a new battery (been there, did this last year).

Cool teeny weeny bikini

Barbara Whoo hoo for you! I can't wait to see your vacation pics! Have a great time and enjoy wearing those bikinis!

Laura I wouldn't trust those body fat monitors on the home scales. I tried one at a client's house (used the instruction booklet and everything) and I registered 49.5 % body fat!!!

Ilene It's so hard to lose weight in winter and we've had a doozy so far in Ontario. I've been maintaining, just like you. I'm planning on starting to lose again when the weather gets a little warmer and we don't have another foot of snow to contend with.

Thanks, Dagmar - that makes me feel better. When I get back home (not for two weeks! Crazy) I'll try calculating using the measurements method you posted.

So after all that yesterday about me thinking I was going to quit worrying about calories... I stayed perfectly on plan yesterday and felt perfectly full all day! Go figure...

Mudpie, isn't it crazy how the scale can fluctuate that much on a day? I weighed myself today, before my actual weigh-in day and it was higher than normal but I'm not too worried because it seems to do that every week. I went from 137 to 133 in a matter of a day.

It must be in the air. I ate kind of crappy this weekend. Didn't go too overboard, so hopefully my weight won't be that bad.

I'm painting my bathroom. What a pain in the rear!
