Okay, so after a month of eating inside my house only. I decided that I could go out. So, I chose Applebees because they have the WW points. My problem is two fold:
I had the cheese quesadilla. It said 480 calories for 10 points. Well, is that 10 points for the whole thing or just one? What would have been the serving size. I split it with my mother. She had two and I had two. So did I eat 10 pts or 20 points or what?
Then, for the supper, I had the terriakki steak and shrimp skewers. I have always read that if I want to eat out and stay sorta on plan, then I need to put half my food in a to go box. Well, since this is WW endorsed meals and WW does preach portion control, is this a portion control dinner or should I still split it? Either way, I still put half my rice, shrimp, and steak in a box just in case.
Basically, I just don't understand how it works. Any help would be appreciated.
Congrats to both of you on your amazing weight losses so far!! Thanks for the info, I was wondering about the Applebees WW menu items. How was the taste? Are they satisfying, I'm guessing if you could take half home...
Tonight hubby and I went to dinner. We each ate half, and brought half home (we're both dieting). We did not eat at Applebee's.
I could not do that with Applebee's WW entrees, because they're too small, and I'd be starving, but if you were able to do it, more power to you. When a WW leader tells you that it's a good idea to eat half of a restaurant meal, this is a guideline not something to be taken literally in every case regardless of the point value of the meal you're eating. So if you would normally spend 10 points on dinner, and you have the points to spend, there's no reason not to eat the entire serving unless it really is too much food.
There isn't any magic about taking half home or not, if you'e counting your calories or points, you just have to stay within your point or calorie limits. Some restaurant meals are so big, you could take 3/4 home and still be over your calorie/point allotment for the meal or even the day.
I had lunch at Applebees yesterday and had the chicken sandwich - it was really good! It came with a side of fruit. It was odd to not have french fries or anything, but I walked out of there feeling satisfied and not stuffed. I think it's a great idea and Applebees will see more of my business now..lol...

I've only tried the Tango Chicken Sandwich too and LOVE it. One time I ordered it and the bun was kind of dried out but that was at an Applebee's in another town. They've really got a good selection of items now. (I've never tried the chocolate cake either but I've heard it's good.)
I've only had one entree from the Weight Watchers menu there. It was the Confetti Chicken. It had a southwestern taste to it, but I loved it oh so much. It came with broccoli and was very filling (meaning I was satisfied, not overstuffed).
I love the WW tilapia, confetti chicken and I just had the steak not too long ago. They are always wonderful. Even if I was not watching my calories, I would recommend these as they taste great!
I love the shrimp & steak skewer entree you mentioned. I was totally bummed when I saw they took it off the menu and off the Applebees online menu I hope they bring it back, or something comprable.
