They are having Christmas parties at work this week so I'm glad I won't be there. They're usually boring anyway
Patch, I can relate with not being able to stop once you start. I'm not really stressing over it for at least the next 2 weeks. I'm probably going to rejoin Dec. 31st if they're open. I was reading one of the threads about some small changes.
Terri, you are so funny Nasty fingers huh?! I got to try & think that way. Thanks for the tip.
I just got a call from my sis. Be back later.
Love,
Es

Hi everyone, I'm so glad that the weekend is almost here. It has been a long stressful week for me.
My oldest daughter had grandchild #4 on Tuesday while I was at school taking a Biology final. Dylan Cody West was 6 lbs 4 ozs. It was the first time I missed the birth of a grandchild. He just wouldn't wait another few days! lol
Finals are over, thank goodness. I did guite well. I passed Algebra, English and Psychology with A's. Of course, the Algebra and English were remedials and all I officially recieve is a P for passing, but I know I did pretty good for an "ole timer"!!
I think I passed Art History with an A, the only course I'm not sure of is Biology. I had 90% in the class going into the final, but I have no way of knowing how I did on the test. Grades will not be posted until the 20th. I'm hoping for a 4.0, I should have a 3.8 at the minimum.
TERRI, how did weigh in go? Hope you had a good one.
JEN, how did your test go? Congratulations on the job offer. Let us know what you found out.
ES, enjoy your time off. I have four weeks of freedom before next semester starts. I plan on spending lots of time at home cleaning and organizing, cleaning out closets, that sort of thing.
Hi Diane, Janie, Sandancy, I know I'm probably forgetting somebody, hope not. My brain is fried at the moment.
Ruth,Congratulations on your new grandson! Hope Mom and baby are both doing well. Your break is well deserved. Hope you get that 4.0! My final isn't till next week; after that I can relax.
JEN, I spent so much time studying during the last week that yesterday after my last test, I'm sitting at home feeling like I should have my nose in a text book. It felt so strange not having a paper to write, math homework to do or a chapter or two to read. I'm really going to enjoy the next four weeks.
RUTH, I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU GRANDMA!!!!! KISS THAT BABY FOR US!!!!! I am so glad the finals are over and you did well. Must feel awesome. I did ok with weigh-in last week. I lost 1#. This week it is my time of the month so not expecting much. (
Janie, CONGRATULATIONS on your loss girl!!!! 25 pounds is fantastic. Doing the HAPPY DANCE FOR SURE.
Es, VACATION! PARTY TIME at home. More fun! Relax and be mellow my friend.
Myra, That miniscule amount of weight will be off in no time. You will see. You are still ahead of the game.
Hi Patch,Welcome! I have been there so many times with the chocolate. I think I finally got it under control after all these years.
Sandy, Congrtas on your fulfilling job. I am a teacher by trade but right now I stay home. I might go back next year. You will be fine. This is such a mind game it isn't even funny. It would be easy if our emotions didn't play such a big role. Good luck to all of us this season. Thanks, I love the images too.
Jen, Congrats to you too on the job offer. That is great! I'll bet you feel like a million bucs. I think you have a good plan for the Holidays. Stick it out and we will all get down in 2002.
Well I hope I didn't miss anyone. I can't believe we are on #100. WOW! PARTY!!!!!
What great news! A new grandchild and doing really well on finals. Gotta tell ya, Ruth college Algebra scares me! I'm lucky when I can balance my checkbook! And Janie congrats on the loss! I remember how thrilling it was to get there, and you should be very proud. Points - It's funny but - if I remember back to 4 years ago...I could have eaten a whole bag of chocolate - and did! So I guess there is some improvement. Jen - here's to much luck on your upcoming finals.
Happy 100 everyone!!! I believe I started here in July when we were in the 40s.
Welcome Patch, Let me introduce myself. I have been a lifetime member since 1995 I am married to a really cool guy, Steve, for 16 years. I have an 8 year old Daughter, Ellen, and a 12 yr old, fat, grumpy cat named Nick Danger (Nicky). Forgive me but Patch is kind of a funny nickname. Either you are a quilter, or a cute puppy dog Just kidding, Seriously, I am always interested in where people get nicknames. If you don't mind sharing, I am sure everyone here would like to know.
Congratulations Ruth, A new grandbaby. And Congrats on finishing the semester with a possible 4.0. You are definately getting the HAPPY DANCE from all of us!
Myra, You will loose that .6 in no time. Just stay away from those Latkas. I'm making them tomorrow. I must say the family didn't sound so thrilled when I suggested baking them instead of frying. Maybe I'll do some baked and some fried and see how it goes.
Es, Have a great Vacation, Make sure you do something that you've never done before. I always try to do at least one thing I've never done before when I go on vacation. I won't be taking any time off until the 21st. Then it's Party time!
OK Janie - I'm neither a quilter nor a puppy dog... so it's got to be "answer # 3"... it's a combo of my real name. When I say it fast people hear it as patchacoby vs Pat Jacoby. Even now that I'm "sometimes" using my newly (3 yrs old) married name, the nickname has stuck, and I've grown to like it.
I've got a 10 yr old spoiled long haired kitty named Jezebel.
Jen, it was so cool today wasn't it? We have to do it again.
I have a few of you on my buddy list so when you're on I know it. This mornng Jen was on & we chatted for a little while. It was nice.
Ruth, congratulations Grandma Wow, we have a straight A student! Way to go. Hope you can have some rest & relaxation this weekend. We all need it after a stressful week.
Janie, I wanted to take the the Christmas week off instead but Pete couldn't get it off so we decided on the week before Christmas. I need it. I had to take a break from work. I didn't realize till now that you've lost 25 lbs!! WOW! If I could lose 25 lbs. I'd be on cloud nine. Great job.
Patch, a strange thing happened to my chocolates. I went to eat one & it tasted like perfume. I asked Pete(hubby) to eat one & he noticed it too. I had to dump them all. The only thing I could think of, you know those scented warmers you plug in the wall? I had unplugged one the other day & the scent stayed on my hand. I guess when I reached for a candy it got all over them. Oh well<sigh>no more temptation.
Terri, we've come a long way. #100 I've been here since 1999 but I've changed my name a few times so it's like starting over. Best thing I ever did. I've gotten so much support, fun & laughs here.
You all are the best.
Hi Dianne & Myra
Till tomorrow,
Essie

Patch, I hope You weren't offended by my silly jokes regarding your nickname. I like it too, and now that I know where it came from I like it even more. Making jokes is just my way of welcoming people. It is also sometimes my way of making a fool of myself. Sorry
Just got back from the mall and I am exhausted. Not a great eating day. Too much eating out. I have to try to be good the rest of the week. In addition to Xmas presents I got a beautiful dress for me to wear to Kenny's Xmas party Wednesday. I'm going to WI Wed morning. Then I can eat, within reason, without guilt at the party.
I just finished an entire post and before I could submit it, I got knocked off aol (grrrrrrrrrrrr)! Well, let me try and reconstruct it.
Wow! #100, happy anniversary to us faboulous forties!
Ruth - congrats on your new grandson - love his name. You beat me by a couple of weeks, my lastest grandbaby is due on 12/20. Give yours a big hug from all of us.
Janie - congrats on your weight loss - 25 lbs is fantastic. Good job, girl.
Jen - Good luck on your final next week and then a well-deserved
break. Soooooooooo cool about the job offer -- did you hear anything else about it? You're right, if you didn't at least consider it, you'd regret it. Good luck!
Es - sooooooooooo funny about the perfumed chocolate. Maybe we should all try that! Have a great week off - that's cool having some time off before xmas. The university closes from 12/22 through 1/2 and I'm taking the 3rd, 4th and 5th so I'll have two straight weeks off. We are going to Florida on New Year's Eve (in the morning) to see the new grandbaby if it comes on time Justin and Alana were asked by their big brother Steven to be Godparents so they are thrilled. Willie is not sooooooo thrilled about getting on a plane, but he'll be alright. I'll give him 4 or 5 valium pills and knock him out
Myra - Don't sweat the small stuff. .6? You'll get that and more off in no time. You're doing so well.
Terri - Are you leaving for Ohio this weekend? Drive safe and have a great holiday with your family.
Patch - welcome. This is a great group and we have fun too.
Well, better get back to wrapping. I used to love wrapping gifts but now that I have 13 grandchildren at 3 gifts each, its not so much fun anymore
Take care and I'll talk to "yous" soon - Zoe where are you? Everytime I say "yous" I think of you. Come in a say hi!
PATCH, I forgot to welcome you to our group earlier. I've been posting with the girls for a month are so now, they are a great much. They offer tons of support, it has really helped having this thread to post on.
DIANE, Dylan was actually due on 12/20, but he didn't want to wait that long!! Hope your new grandbaby is here soon, is this #14. Do you know what it will be yet? BTW, what do you do at the university? Are you a professor or support staff?
JANIE, I think I also forgot to congratulate you on your 25 lb. loss. That is so awesome. I hope I will be able to boast such a weight loss within the next 4 months or so. I'm perfectly fine with taking it slow, but sometimes next August seems like a million years away. August is when I'm hoping to have all my weight off. I only have 46 lbs to go.
MYRA, I found in the past that a small gain was usually followed by a nice loss. One week of making good choices and you'll do fine.
How nice to see everyone here! It was very cool to chat briefly with Es this morning; we should all seriously try to get together after the holidays and go "live" in a chat, or similar.
Terri, MerryChristmas! Hope Santa is good to you
Es, that sounds like something I'd do....the scented chocolates. But what a great lifesaver it turned out to be, right? No guilt about throwing away perfectly good candy, no gain from eating them!
Dianne, it'll be so nice for you to have those two weeks off...and a new grandbaby! I got some much needed help from Joe this evening, he wrapped all the grandsons' presents, and there are alot I can't even imagine having 13 to do it for!
Janie, so you're our detective! I'm also fascinated with some of the nicknames I've seen. Mine, on the other hand, is perfectly boring! No creativity here!
Myra, what is your dress like? It is very difficult to eat well when eating out alot. This time of year doesn't help, but you've been making good choices and controlling yourself, that will help.
Thanks to everyone for the good wishes re:my final. It'll be fine, I know I'll pass it, but want to ace it. I contacted my instructor about the position at his firm, and have to submit a resume, which I began writing today. I'm not sure where this will go, or if I'll even interview for it; the fact is I'm not looking for a job right now, I had planned on returning to work next fall. But I'll see what happens.
