Red face The downfall of losing weight...

I bought these adorable pair of jeans about two months ago...they were on the clearance rack and I fell in love with them. But, when I tried them on, I could barely pull them up and forget about buttoning them! I bought them anyway since they were such a good deal and I was determined to wear them at SOME point.

I'm wearing them today...for only the second time...and I cant keep them up! Don't get me wrong, I love being healthier now - but I'm going to miss these cute jeans!

I figured since I'm a clothes addict I might be the only one to be this bummed about it...anyone else out there relate?

I made that mistake. I literally went from a size 16 to a 12 in a matter of a few weeks (and only about 20 pounds), even though it took about 40 pounds to go from a size 20 to a 16. Well, I couldn't buy pants fast enough to keep up. I was a 14 for one week and managed to find the most adorable pair of capris. I also cried when I gave away the beautiful "hippie" blouses I had collected throughout the years- they always made me feel beautiful, no matter what my weight was and I still miss them

I did keep a couple, though, in the hopes that they will make great maternity shirts *someday*....

Yeah. I miss some of my cute bigger clothes. Sometimes it's worth it to take it to a tailor if you really like them, and it's sometimes cheaper than buying something new (depending of what it is). Or trying to tailor it yourself if you're handy with a sewing machine.

Bah! Yes! I keep telling myself I won't buy new clothes until I really need them (like, they are falling off), and yet, I keep buying. It disheartens me to know that (hopefully) I won't be able to wear them in the future. BUT, I keep telling myself that I should keep them anyway for maternity clothes!

Same here with the jeans, even though it's definitely lesser of the two evils -- I used to be a 32"/33" waist -- but as I've been slimming down over the last months, I fit in & got in a 31" waist around X-mas and then a 30" around Feb. Both of these are quite loose now, but wearable, unlike my older stuff. (right now I'm more like a 28"/29", from what I can tell trying stuff on at a store)

And the "maternity clothes" trick/excuse to save my bigger/older stuff doesn't exactly work for me

I say reward yourself, and go out and find an even cuter pair of jeans!! That's what I would do!! However, I do see where you're coming from... the jeans I'm wearing now are getting pretty loose and I will admit I will be a little sad when I have to part with them, but you can be sure I will get over it as soon as I get me some new SMALLER ones

Haha, that's funny. I understand how it could be upsetting, but what a great problem to have!

It's literally a price of losing weight. I spent so much on clothes over the years and had really cute stuff - for any and all occasions. My closet and dresser are pretty bare these days because of money and also it takes time to find stuff I like. Also, who knows what size I'll be when I get to my goal weight, so I don't really feel like investing in a ton of stuff until I'm at a stable weight. I've decided to have a sparse but super cute wardrobe until I'm at goal. The two pairs of jeans I do wear look fab! I agree with going out and buying an even cuter pair of jeans.

I bought a totally cute pair of jeans right before Christmas. By the end of January, I couldn't wear them anymore. They were just falling off of me all day long.

The only sad part is that they didn't have any in a smaller size when I went back to check - I was thrilled though, that they didn't fit.

You're COMPLANING about having to buy new clothes?

I would back up the recommendation to take them to a tailor though. They are AWESOME.

I totally agree. I am having the same problem. I hate buying new clothing because it seems like a waste of money. I am going to try and do some thrift store shopping in the next few weeks because almost everything I own is falling off. I try and buy 2 pairs of jeans when fashionbug has them on sale buy one get one for a dollar.

My mom bought me two new outfits over the weekend when I saw her because she said I needed something that fit me.

One word, my dears. TAILORING. I am NOT giving up some of the really nice work blouses I've got for myself at this size once I lose the weight/get my boob reduction. I'm getting the better ones (ie, the expensive ones and the ones that aren't going to go out of style or fall apart for a very long time) tailored to fit me when I'm all done. I can't afford new clothes, but alterations are cheaper.

Something that has helped me when I drop a size is going on eBay.com and looking for the identical jeans that I have grown out of in the next size down. Sometimes you can find them used and super cheap! I have even sold some of my older jeans on eBay and that helps pay for the new ones.

I think there is just nothing better than going shopping and trying on clothes- and feeling like they FINALLY look good on you. Doing that keeps me motivated to stick with my diet/exercise.
