I was sound asleep at 4.32am! What was wrong - the rumble tums??

We are having a few problems sleeping at the moment - the dog has taken up snoring - and it is SO loud - the whole house reverberates and the windows rattle! Haven't got a clue what to do about it.... any ideas??

Another beautiful day - I did have all the windows open but some men came along at 7.30 and dug a hole in the pavement and are currently standing there staring in to it.

My brother in law is signed off work for ANOTHER month for his diet! They want him to lose another 2 stones before they allow him to work/drive again. (Have I mentioned this before?? ... Probably....!) He's only allowed 500 cals a day at the moment.

I am aching all over - I did my 'gentle' yoga video yesterday and I feel like I have been run over by a steam roller! There isn't much that doesn't hurt - especially the area under my chin for some reason...

Got home from work yesterday and there was a video waiting for me. I was expecting it to be my Geri Halliwell but no it was it was my ‘new’ callanetics vid. I only won the bid on Ebay on Friday and here was the tape in my house on Tuesday. So I played it last night and it looks good, not to strenuous. And I planned on working out to it last night.

But at about 7pm it was like someone had thrown a switch inside my head, I just reached that stage that I had to sleep and I had to sleep right away. So when I picked Sean up from Beavers I jollied the boys into bed and followed them, I was in bed by 8:30 and read until 9. I then switched the boys’ lights off and rolled over and didn’t know a thing until 6:15 this morning.

And now I can’t stop my nose from running it was fine until I came into work. Personally I blame the guys I work with as they are both contractors and come into work no matter how ill they are as they don’t get paid otherwise. But did they have to share their germs with me. Keep kidding them on that I’m not speaking to them now, but in reality they couldn’t be that lucky.

At least now I know why I have felt so awful for the last few days and why my whole routine has been out of sync. On top of that I gained 2lbs this week – am surprised that is all it was to be honest with you. My car is going to be in the garage for another day as the cylinder head has gone on it as well (??) I’m skint. It’s raining. Think that’s enough things to be miserable about today and now I’ve got it out of my system, I can concentrate on cheering myself up and smiling a bit.

Ali I loved the story. One of the guys I work with is a gym fanatic I can see him in the Bruce role. Sarah I am moving to Yorkshire. Yet again in sunny Scotland it is raining. It’s really dreary looking outside. Enough to make a girl want to jump on a plane and go anywhere hot & sunny.

Bu I am looking forward to next week to make sure that 2lbs comes off. But my motivation is at an all time low at the moment. I’m going for a cup of tea and a surf around the net, while pretending I am working. That’s sure to make me feel a bit better.

Carol.... I am not ENTIRELY sure that I would describe Yorkshire as 'hot & sunny'... In fact since I did the last post the clouds have all turned up...

I get annoyed about people who go to work with colds and other bugs as well... it seems to be a matter of pride with some people that they go to work no matter how ill they are! Then, of course, they pass the germs on to everyone they work with who in turn pass it on to their families. Thoughtless! Years ago I was doing contract work and I was working with a woman who 'gave' me Chickenpox - I got it really bad and was off work with it for four weeks, on the day I was due to go back to work my daughter came down with it - and in the end I was off work (unpaid) for a total of seven weeks because a woman (who did get sick pay) decided to be a martyr! Not nice when you're the sole breadwinner.

The workmen have now enlarged the hole to twice its original size and there are several more of them all gazing in to it.... is this a male bonding ritual in progress??????? Surely women don't stare in to holes like this - we get on and get things sorted out, don't we!

I think Yorkshire is the place to be, every time I have been to Yorkshire (only 3 or 4 times admittedly ) the sun has been shining. Unlike North Devon, it is pouring with rain again.

<<<<hugs>>>> to Carol. Sorry that you are feeling down today. It is so depressing how easily 2 lbs goes on, it never comes off that easily. You are one of my main motivators on here Carol, so don't be too disheartened. I only dream of doing as much exercise as you! Walking just over a mile a day nearly kills me!

I know what you mean about working with people who are full of germs. The two women I work with have been working with colds for 2 weeks, I am amazed I haven't caught it yet.

I was just doing some quizzes on the Eastenders website. Apparently I am the same type of mother as Pauline Fowler, I am most like Little Mo and my ideal Eastenders man would be Jamie Mitchell. For the last one I was trying to answer all th questions to make it come back with Steve Owen as well – guess I did something wrong.

Need to go for a complete personality change????

Yes - my BIL is signed off sick to diet!

The family rumour is that he managed to walk away from a multi car pile up that he caused on a motorway because he fell asleep in the fast lane.

When he was checked out at the hospital he told them that he was tired ALL the time so he got referred to a specialist who ran tests (including him having to sleep in a laboratory type place all wired up) and it turns out he has got something called sleep apnia (sp??) The sleep apnia is a problem mainly for overweight people when you stopping breathing lots of times during the night which wakes you up.

Mick was told he stops breathing cos he has got a large neck with a lot of fat on it (he's a big bloke all over) and the weight of the fat is causing the airways to fall in on themselves which stops him breathing. Which wakes him up a lot, which makes him tired in the day, which caused the car crash!

He was told that he wasn't allowed to drive until the specialist told him he can - so he can't work (his work involves doing around 1000 miles a week) - so he has been signed off sick. They have put him on this really weird 500 cal a day diet - he lost two stones in four weeks and now they want him to lose another 3 before they will let him drive again.
