Hi Mo! Welcome to SB!!

Just a quickie...as usual, lately... I have been out for a walk three times in three days!! Junior is LOVING it and so am I. The temp is in the 40's and I feel like getting out the lounge chairs and putting on my bathing suit! It's just the snow is still in the way. But, after such harshly cold temps the last month or so, it almost feels like summer...hearing the birds chirp is SUCH a nice thing. And...the fabled ice breaker is on it's way up the St. Lawrence! My absolute first and favorite sign of spring!!

Soon there'll be less of this and more of this

Hey everyone! I am fixin' (that is Southern for 'just about') to go to bed. About an hour and a half ago, I was so tired I laid down on the bed...and promptly fell asleep. I predict I will sleep poorly tonight.

MO: Some folks use a seperate window to make replies in, then copy and paste. If you use the 'post reply' button, you can scroll back farther than just the page you are on, which helps.

TECH: About time you checked in young lady! I was reading a potter's blog from Ithaca, and he was talking about how the ice on the river in their back yard just totally broke and whooshed away over night. He was saying the ducks were having a party!

SEF: Oh, how well I know what you mean! I have those stashes that take forever to sort through. I usually don't...and when I finally get around to looking at them, I probably could have just tossed the whole thing!

Hi everybody

Thought I would check in before getting ready for bed. I haven't walked the last couple of days. Since the clocks changed I find it hard to get to sleep at a decent time and end up sleeping in in the morning. I'm going to try and get to bed on time tonite as I would like to get up about 6 to go for my mall walk. I did bowl this morning and played badminton this evening so at least I am getting some exercise. But I do miss the walking. Eating has been good to-day. I had cold cereal with milk for bf, lunch was tomato soup and smoked turkey breast with a salad and fresh strawberries. Dinner was spaghetti sauce made with minced chicken and penne pasta. For snack this evening I had a couple of homemade oatmeal cookies.

Sef - I don't envy you sorting out stuff to throw out. I'm glad I've got that job behind me. You wouldn't believe the stuff I had to get rid of before I moved last year. Hooray for garage sales.

Monet - Hope your predictions prove wrong and you are able to sleep tonite. Sometimes I struggle to keep awake in the afternoon as I know it will mean a sleepless night if I snooze.

Tech - Isn't it a good feeling to see the temeperature go up. It feels like spring here too to-day. The temp was about 50F. Supposed to be the same again tomorrow then a little cooler Friday. But at least some of the snow is melting.

Solly - WTG on your walking. You are doing great. Make the most of the beautiful summer weather you are having. We all need a break from the cold temperatures. At least we know spring is on the way.

Ericsmommy - . It's good to see another Canadian on board. There are several ways of doing replies. You can type your reply in Word or Notepad then cut and paste into the reply window. Or you can go to the reply window and scroll down so you can see the posts. Another way I sometimes do it - depending on how many posts I want to check - is to open the board in another window, so you have two copies of the board. Use one for the replies and toggle to the other one to read the posts. I only use this way if I am behind and have a lot of posts that I want to check.

Good morning ladies,

I didn't have a good night either. Woke up at 3:00 and finally fell back asleep sometime before 5:00. Woke pp @ 5 and didn't sleep much before getting up at 5:30. Now I am sleepy in front of this computer. We did get a 3 mile walk in after dinner last night.

Tech, I was wondering about the ice breaker. I hadn't seen you mentionit and I thought it was about time for it to be coming down the river.

Monet, I did the same thing. I fell asleep watching Idol and woke up and went to bed.

Mo, sounds like you got your answers. I find it easiest to open notepad and read and switch back and forth.

Sef, It seems once you start a task like that, it always leads to something else. But at least the task is finished.

Rosalie, the time change messes up lots of people. But I sure like it I would rather they just left it like this all year. When you work all day, it is nice to have a little daylight left in the evening.

Better get started. My main boss is out of town for 3 days so I should have more time.

Sigh........dull, dreary and raining. Hate it when you need the lights on in the daytime.

Trying to continue with the bookcase, don't have much get up and go. It went without me. But now and then I move something!

We are a house full of women now(except for one neutered dog) son had to go to Puerto Rico for a week or so one business. That means that before he comes back I have to make some liver and onions. He doesn't do liver and onions!

Where is everyone? It's lonesome!

Hiya all,
Have had to take care of Ashley for the last 2 days. She was home with a virus. Poor baby, she was hungry but couldn't eat much. But she drank a lot of juice and water. But shes well and back at school today!!!! And I got to visit the new Walmart Supercenter they opened today in our town. Boy is it awesome. I wasn't expecting quiet as big and as big a varity of stuff they have now. We have had a regular Walmart for about 20 yrs. Now we will never have to leave and go to Pineville....lol I spent an hour and a half just walking and looking. I am still on track with my eating. Matter of fact, I have lost 6 lbs in the last week and a half..... My clothes are looser and are not so tight. And I feel so good. The neck ache is gone as of this morning.

sef-Hubby works for American Eagle Trucklines out of Lancaster, TX. Thank goodness its a company truck. But its brand new and it really upset him that the other driver wasn't paying close enough attention and ran into his truck.

melf-Howdy down South LA!!!!!

mo-The first year I did this way of eating I lost 64 lbs. When I had hit the 50 lb weight loss I found out I was pregnant with my youngest Ashley. I fell off the wagon after I had her and was on and off for the last 4 years. But have been back on track now for about 3 weeks. It clear your mind and body of sugar toxins and makes you feel so much better. It also helps that your hubby is doing this to. My hubby is a diabetic so its also good for him.

Monet-Have not slept good for about 4 days now. With Ashley sick I have been up and down all nite.

Bob-Wheres Bob????? Hope your haveing a great day!!!!

Solly-Its nasty wet and raining here today so I didn't get to go to the park and eat lunch. I eat lunch at the park every day during the week while the girls are at school. I just love it.

Mo-I forgot to tell you I was 39 when I got pregnant and 40 when I had her...Shes now 4 and will be 5 August 18th!!!!! I call her my Sugarbuster baby...lol

Hello!

Sorry I've not had a chance to post much but I'm still here! Still 100% OP, scale still downing down! It's gradual but steady! I am also exercising, 5 days last week & missed yesterday but walked 2 miles today in between the rain. Glad I went! Now I need to get back to cleaning. Will try to do relies later.

Good Afternoon

I slept o.k. last nite and managed to get up at 6 a.m. and went for my mall walk. I walked a little less than usual as I didn't have much oomph this morning but at least I got out there. The weather is still mild here but no sunshine to-day. I think they are predicting thunderstorms for this evening. I am not complaining. It is better than the freezing cold.

Thunderwoman - Sorry to hear your baby was sick.

Sef - You talking about your bookcase got me motivated to sort out a few things. I didn't have any thing to throw out but my closets were a bit messy so I did do a bit of re-organising and threw out a few boxes. I always hate to throw out boxes in case I find a use for them. But I had a few that had to go. Then I was able to put a couple of blankets and comforters in the cupboard that had been lying around since the kids sleep over. I had them in the locker room in the basement before but I just hate going down there as it is like a dungeon.

Let me know when the liver and onions are on the menu. I might just drop by.

Solly - I don't mind the time change. It just takes me a little while to get used to it.

Time for another break. I have the equivalent of two empty shelves so far. Found some memory lane things this time and of course I had to go down the path. Little thank you notes Ashley wrote me when they lived in OZ. Little gossipy notes too. I have one large file holder that is just pictures. OMG I'll not get a thing done when I pull that off the shelf.

ROSALIE: Just reorganizing things opens up a lot ofspace doesn't it? I guess we just keep putting things on shelves or in closets willy nilly. Then we have all this work to do to sort it out. If we were only neat in the first place! But that would be too easy.

MELF: Glad you are still on track. I am tired today and my resisitance is low. I am fighting a battle not to pick up something to nosh! So far so good.

THUNDER: Glad Ashley is better. Hope you get some sleep tonight. When I was a kid my father worked for Jersey Coast Freight Lines. In the summer I can remembeer him stopping at the church and whisking me away from VBS to take me on his route with him. About the time my mother was supposed to pick me up he would call her and tell her that I was with him. It was a lot of fun. It was cool (that wasn't the word then) to sit up in the high cab with a big long trailer behind you. At the stops the customers would make a fuss over this little girl. I got candy, ice cream, comic books, etc. I thought it was wonderful, my mother did not. The drivers were all careful of their rigs, they were spit and polish clean. Dad would have been crushed if someone banged his rig.

We used to have to go about ten miles down the interstate to go to a superstore. There was only a regular old Walmart near us. Now there is a huge one about a mile away, as well as a Lowe's and Home Depot. People in th NH tell me about Slidell being a rural farm area and that they took a three hour trip around the lake to get here. They came mostly in the summer as it was cooler this side of the lake. Now there is the causeway and you can be in N.O. in about 40 minutes. No one knows what a farm is any more!

Hi Monet Sorry to hear you feel asleep, but my grandma always said if your body needs the sleep then you have no control over it, so take it easy on yourself and relax and don’t let it bug you.

Hi Rosalie Wow your very energetic to bowl and badminton on the same day ?Your menu today sounds delicious, I had a piece of ww bread with natural BP on it for breakfast and for lunch l had tomato soup, for dinner were having a stir fry. I started curves last night and it was hard but fun. I hope with this diet and excersie l can get in better shape. We use to live in Whitby before we moved here to Calgary.

Well l got to go and changed Eric now so l will try and do more replyies in awhile. I hope this works (the cut and paste)

Hey everyone! As I predicted, I did not sleep well last night at all. I finally fell asleep, after cleaning the kitchen, at about 4, and woke up at about 9. Interestingly, my bg was actually pretty good. I ended up taking a 45 minute nap this afternoon, as I was SO tired again. Grrr. I hope I can sleep tonight, because I am driving an hour and half up to the mountains tomorrow to work with my friend at the studio up there. I will be able to use her potter's wheel, which will be nice, since I really am missing mine. I should get the parts in tomorrow or Friday...I hope!

Tom and I took the grandbaby for a walk today. He really loves being outside. This morning, I got him up and took care of him for his parental units, who seemed sleepy and out of it. We had fun. He is a voracious eater! He is trying very hard to crawl, but ends up going backward, which makes me want to laugh. He pivots on his belly and reaches for stuff, and is so pleased with himself when he is successful. SO cute!

My son has been gone on business for a full month, and is coming home tomorrow afternoon. I can't wait to see him! He will talk my arm and leg off, but I love him dearly.

I think we will go to have dinner on Saturday with our older daughter and her husband. He is the one who was a chef... He will be on call unfortunately, but hopefully, no one will need him.

I need to go finish my laundry and get ready for bed. I will check in tomorrow evening, when I get home.

It's a very quiet board for a Wednesday. Where is everyone? Didn't finish the bookcase but will tomorrow.

MO: You're right. Listen to our bodies. I always learned too that if you fall asleep there is a reason, your body needs the rest.

MONET: That's one thing I missed with Ashley....all those little things grandparents get to do. She was born in Germany, then DS's job sent him to Turkey and then OZ. They came home for visits and we visited them, but it wasn't as often as we all would have liked. Hope your wheel parts come in. Enjoy your trip up the mountains. No mountains here, so no scenery. The highest point around here is the High Rise a section of the twin span over the lake. It's high enough they don't need a drawbridge.

Am going to try a little cross stitching.

Hi everybody: Well, with the warm weather comes the body of water that my backyard turns into. We, literally, had a couple of ducks landing in the backyard last year. And, with the lake in the backyard, comes the mud in my kitchen, compliments of Junior (my old English Sheepdog, for the newbies) and with that comes a very depressed dog that spends his days on the back porch with mud up to his armpits. I could take him for walks, but it doesn't matter because the road is filled iwth puddles and I have to use the sidewalk to get to the road and Junior doesn't use the sidewalk, he uses the soupy, muddy yard to the side of the sidewalk and, basically, I'm saying I have no choice. I refuse to live in a mudhut for another muddy season, so Junior is going tomorrow to Petco to be shaved down to velour for the spring. I told Shelley, either the fur goes, or the dog himself goes. Its not that I'm mad a the dog, my heart breaks for him at the lack of attention and affection he gets because he STINKS, he's MUDDY and in a general state of grossness. Taking him in for a bath means taking through my diningroom with muddy feet on my new carpet, up the stairs and into my hot purple bathroom with white accessories. And I'd have to do this about two times a day. I'd have to quit my job, hire a maid and catering service and take my laundry to the fluff n fold, just so I could spend my time taking junior out to poo adn then bring him in for a bath and blowdry all day over and over. So, I'm just upset because the last time I took him to Petco, he looked so nice and my nieghbor said, "We just thought you weren't going to take care of him and just take him in to be shaved everytime he needs to be brushed." Which isn't entirely untrue. Thing is...I've found how I have to brush Junior, but it's a TWO PERSON JOB...one to brush him and one to hold the choker collar so he'll sit still and not bite me and horse around. And I have to do this every day or he gets matted up. Problem is...I ask Shelley and she starts to cry because she doesn't like the choker collar and I ask Derek and he's always 'decompressing' on the couch and not willing to help me. So, there Junior sits, getting matted up and disgusting and now we add a heaping helping of mud from the backyard...off with the fur!!! I LOVE my dog and I want to hug him and play with him and love him like he deserves to be treated. Not stick him on the backporch forever.

Anyhow...I have my little 'charge' Genevieve in the living room while we wait for Kyle to get up out of bed. Anyone have any bed wetting strategies they'd like to share? Kyle has SUCH a problem with it. He even wet through is pull-up last night! He's just down for the count when he goes out. He wants to go on a sleepover, but I don't want him to be embarassed wearing a diaper to bed still at over six years old. I was a bedwetter until I was in the second grade and my brother was even later than that! So, I'm anticipating a long haul here. Shelley was a breeze through the night, but not my Kyle.

Okay...Genevieve is looking for attention...gotta run. Maybe I'll be back when Genevieve and Kyle go to school....

Tech-I had a problem with my oldest girl Danielle with the bed wetting until she was in the 1st grade. She slept so hard she never even woke up when she wet the bed. So I would set the alarm for about every 3 hours and got her up to go to the bathroom. She got used to getting up so when she hit the second grade everything smoothed out. I have had to do Ashley the same way and now she gets up on her own. I was so thankful Danielle finally grew out of it. And Ashley was so much faster. Gotta run school time.
