Started on April 5th, and just had another weigh in this morning. Down 14 so far! Feeling encouraged.

Lots of work travel/events coming up next week so getting mentally prepared to go through the food/drink-exposure gauntlet.

Hi All. I'm on Day two. Not really too hungry but I did snack on some cukes a few minutes ago. What foods are you enjoying or not liking so far. I liked the chicken soup and apple oatmeal. The jury is still out on the crispy cereal and beef stroganoff. I saved a bunch of the recipes from the recipe threads and plan to try them out.

Hosegirl, I had the same question. I'm finding it hard to eat everything at one meal. Can I split a meal into two and eat the a few hours apart?

There's a link to the latest Phase 1 protocol on the daily thread. This will give you both the vitamin/supplement guide as well as the food proportions. There are several threads regarding alternatives.

Hey guys. Today is restart day 2 for me. I successfully lost 50 lbs back in 2013 but have put back on 20 lbs. I ended up having a miscarriage and my eating got out of control.
I'm ready to get back in the saddle and finally get to my goal weight.
Super tired and have a headache today and waiting for the energy to kick back in....hopefully soon!
Good luck to all of you!!

My husband started with me or I should say I started with him. Though I think I will have success with this I am very worried about my husband. He does not like any vegetables except green beans, lettuce, radish, cucumbers, celery and bell peppers. I am finding it challenging to find things to fix for him. Is there a place I can go for SERIOUSLY picky eaters to find ways to mix those very few vegetables? I was also looking for a place that gives examples of peoples actual days of what they ate.
There's a thread called "What are you eating today" (or something like that) where people list what they're eating that day. It's good for getting a sense of what both new and long term IPers re doing.

So today was my third weigh in. I am sooo excited! I have officially lost 8 pounds and 7 inches!

Week 1 I lost 3.6 pounds, week 2 was 1.2 pounds, and week 3 was 3.2 pounds! I didn't think i was loosing fast enough week 2, so I stopped having my restricted snack at night. I think it was too much carbs late at night. Now I have my restricted for lunch and I really think it made a difference.

I asked a similar question last week and got some good replies, basically saying that it is ok to split up the protein into two meals. So what I've been doing the last couple of days is having 4 oz of protein and 2 cups veggies and/or salad at lunch. Then I have my second IP food for an afternoon snack. My dinner will be the same set up as lunch (but different foods). And then I have the 3rd IP food after dinner.

This has been working well for me. I was assured that it won't affect the ketosis or weight loss.

It won't affect ketosis, but it might slow losses a little because each meal raises your blood sugar. If your blood sugar rises too high or too quickly you will provoke a release of insulin. Insulin's primary function is to reduce the sugar level in the blood (it stores excess sugar as fat in white fat cells).

One of the primary objectives of the IP protocol is to minimise the insulin release so the pancreas has a reset and learns to use insulin in correct proportions. Many, if not most, overweight and obese people have some degree of insulin sensitivity or overproduction.

Once you've been in ketosis for a couple of weeks you will find that the hunger hormones (ghrelin and leptin) settle down and you don't experience hunger in the same way. This is the time to regulate your meals down to the standard 4 per day.

There is, however, no problem in splitting your 8 raw oz lean protein across lunch/dinner or eating your "free/unlimited" salad/veg items at any time you choose. They are generally 1-2 carbs at most, and that is offset by the amount of fiber in them.

1 potassium
1 multivitamin
2 cal-mag (twice a day)
1 omega 3 (twice a day)

The ones I use:-

Vitamin Shoppe potassium citrate
Centrum Women's multivitamin
Nature Made Calcium-Magnesium with Zinc and D3
FISOL enteric coated Omega 3 fish oil

The Centrum comes from Walmart, the rest from VitaminShoppe. If you are struggling to digest the higher amounts of protein, the Garden of Life Omegazymes are excellent. Some people have issues with lactose and the digestive enzymes can make a world of difference to how your stomach endures IP.

Fellow newbies, I tried the pancake recipe made with the Crispy cereal Packet. I used a whole egg rather than two egg whites, and will subtract the egg from my protein totals. (I'm having a hard time with the large protein amount for dinner so this should help). Pretty good. I didn't have any syrup, so I ate them dry. I think that I should have added a little sweetener.

I'm glad I found this recipe because I really hated the cereal. If you read the thread with other uses for IP Products you'll find a number of other tasty-sounding pancake recipes using the pudding mix packets.

Here's the basic recipe (so you don't have to spend time going thru the threads):

One packet of Crispy Cereal (crushed)
Two egg whites or one egg
1/4 tsp baking powder
Pinch of salt
Splenda packet (1/2 should do)
Touch of your preferred extract
Water - just enough to get a batter consistency

The cereal will still be a bit crispy but that will minimize when cooking. Mix everything together. Makes two small/medium pancakes.

Hi folks, I'm a long time dieter but an IP newbie. I started 6 days ago and am nervous/anxious about my first weigh in tomorrow. I don't want to get my hopes up too high. I'm really enjoying the food and the plan so far. I've had a few carb cravings but quieted them with herbal tea. I've never eaten so many veggies in my life!

I had headaches day 3,4 and 5. Day 5 I was sick to my stomach. I almost quit the diet. My coach said it was normal to feel that bad. withdrawals. I'm glad I hung in there. Since 2/12/15 I have lost 38 pds. I have 110 to go. I'm pulling for you.
