Good job on the loss, Gayle! See? I KNEW you could do it….now, just hang with us for the long haul, girl…

Mary and Karen3, I had terrible problems with my right hip and leg for over a year….oddly, it would be at its worst when I was lying in bed, but it would start to ache badly, and my foot would even start to go numb if I stood on it for too long. They did all sorts of tests, and ended up telling me the bursa was inflamed (bursitis) in my hip socket. Taking Ibuprophen seemed to be their only suggestion aside from prescribing pain meds, which I don’t really care to use. Since I’ve lost some weight, the problem has pretty much disappeared (knock on wood).
Wilma, I can’t even imagine working in a jail! When I was just starting out as a social worker for the Department of Social Services in Massachusetts, I had to work with some families in which one parent or the other was incarcerated. I remember the rigamarole you had to go through to get in to see them, and also some of the craziness that I witnessed. Ack! If I had to keep on dealing with that kind of stress, I’d be a lot heavier than I am now, since I tend to EAT when stressed.

Bobbi, if I am half as active as you are when I retire, I’ll be very pleased with myself. You are a real dynamo, lady! Out planting flowers in 100 degree weather, are you? Good grief, I’d be inside drooping with a cool cloth draped across my forehead and sipping a mint julep. (I just KNOW I was a southern belle in a former life!)
Glad you’re doing better, Lynn. Hope everything else is going well.
Rosey, your husband sound like ME!!! I absolutely HATE anyone hovering over me if I’m not feeling well. I prefer to just be left alone to crawl away into my cave (under the covers) and lie there consumed in my own misery until I get to feeling better, at which point I want OUT! Speaking of which, I have just spent two truly miserable days with a horribly upset stomach. My DH is up in NH helping our friend with some mowing and repairing, which is actually a GOOD thing, because he is most definitely a hoverer. On Tuesday, I had meetings virtually all day at work, and never got to have any breakfast or take a lunch break. By the time I finished up the last meeting, it was time to pack up and go home. I stopped to run a few errands, got home at @ 7:00, and DS came in shortly after. I was starving but hadn’t had time to cook anything, and he suggested getting pizza, and I jumped at it. (Big mistake). I ate FOUR pieces. Okay, it was a small one, but still….4 pieces is too many, and it’s DEFINITELY too many on a completely empty stomach that isn’t used to processing grease and all that cheese and stuff. Auuuuuurrrrrgh. No more than ten minutes after eating, I started feeling queasy, and ended up with my stomach in knots, my esophagus feeling like it was on fire, and in a cold sweat. Couldn’t sit, lie down, or stand up without being in pain. Took every kind of stomach/gas remedy I could find in the house, but ended up in pain until close to 3:00 in the morning. My stomach wasn’t hurting, but was still feeling pretty fragile yesterday, and is just getting back close to normal today. I was so GLAD that DH wasn’t around. DS had gone out to play some basketball with a few friends, so he didn’t witness his mother writing about in agony, which I was very grateful for. I’ve had this happen once or twice before when I ate something I shouldn’t have…you’d think I’d know my body a little better by now. (That’s what happened when you deliberately climb off the wagon…betcha that won’t happen again anytime soon!)
Karen31, I’m sure you’ll be seeing some weight loss after a summer of swimming every day.
Okay back to work for moi…
Freda, wherefore art thou? And, oh, Lordie, please let Isabella be okay.
