I don't have much experience on the back issues, but I hope you feel better soon. Maybe try heating pads or an nsaid patch?
When I'm feeling down, it helps me to plan how I can accomplish what I want (like others said) but also by going back in my health journal and reading earlier entries to see how I felt when I first started in comparison to how I feel now. It cheers me up and motivates me to stick with it because although I might not feel different from day to day and although there may be a challenges from time to time...over months, the change can be amazing and uplifting.
