My husband gave me a sweet compliment recently : "Christina, you're so thin and beautiful! All your hard work is paying off!" It's so nice to hear it from him.
Lisa - that's so nice! I'm amazed at how nice some people can be, when usually people go out of their way to be nasty!
I got a nice compliment yesterday - I was in the petrol station just paying for my stuff when they girl behind the counter says, "No Red Bull today?" Which really threw me since I didn't think I'd really become a "regular" there (although dressed in a huge yellow hi-viz jacket, I'm probably one of the easiest customers to recognize), so I said, "Oh no that's for the double kickboxing lesson, on Thursday." Then she says, "That coat makes you look tiny!" TINY! I've never been TINY in my life! Granted it's XXXL and would probably make anyone look tiny, but hey, that's just nice!
he replied "no to lose weight, you look amazing... god you must have to run around in the shower to get wet" That was the best compliment I ever got and wanted to feel that way again helped keep me motivated this time around
I love that one Jenn!! I bet it made your day!! Once in awhile dh will tell me if I keep it up, Im going to need rocks in my pockets to keep from being blown away in a wind storm.
No compliments for me lately, mostly just on how Im looking. People dont tend to notice Ive lost weight until I start wearing more fitted clothing. Which wont be until it warms up. I LOVE my fleece and sweaters this time of year!! I tend to get a good glow on when Im eating properly and loosing weight. Thats whats noticed first. As long as dh notices Im happy.(for now)
I was unpacking my last box of winter clothes 2 weeks ago and tried on some pants I last wore on my honeymoon 4 1/2 years ago and they fit (I was about 5 - 10 lbs. lighter then, but I have been doing more strength training now than I did before my wedding). Anyway, I wore the pants to work last week with a grey turtleneck that hasn't fit in a few years either. When I got home, tired and disheveled, my husband looked at me and said, "You are looking so good, honey. You really notice how much weight you've lost when you wear clothes that fit and aren't baggy all over."
He is usually very complimentary, but this time I could tell he was really amazed at the progress.
Probably my best so far is a friend at work who has been telling me my pants are all too big (I finally went and bought at least one pair in a smaller size). I think when we're REALLY obese, most co-workers and casual acquaintances aren't gonna say much until they're REALLY sure the diet "sticks" because....from their perspective, if they say something like "you're losing weight!" or "you look thinner" the flip side if we fall off the wagon (which, gotta grant them this,happens all too often to folks) is that now they've admitted to us that they thought we looked big, right? ;-)
A non-verbal "compliment" but the pet owners out there might like it...my "sleeping size" has changed enough so that some of my cats now like to sleep half on me and half on the bed. I'm apparently now a comfortable conformation to provide them ongoing nighttime warmth although it does make it hard for me to change position (I'm well-trained; I usually don't wiggle around TOO much).
hehehehe most men seem really clueless that someone who's 5'8" is going to weigh more than someone who's 5'. They seem to think, she's thin, must be about 100 lbs
I usually make an estimate and then subtract 20# for diplomatic reasons. Better to guess low than high.
This morning, as I was gracelessly bending over to pick paper up off the kitchen floor, my husband says "how much weight have you lost?" I said "oh, ten or eleven pounds." "Well," he says, "your tushie is looking smaller."
I'm about 14 lbs heavier than when I felt awesome. Yesterday morning, I had a reassessment moment. Thought a bunch of stuff through and then went to church. Serendipitously, I saw a friend I haven't seen in a very long time. She took me by both hands, turned me this way and that and said "You look great."
The perfect compliment at the perfect time.
For our twins' birthday we went out to dinner with the whole family. When we got to the restraunt, my 11 year old niece walked up and said, "Wow! You are so skinny. You look like my mom." Now, her mom is my sister and the one person I've always benchmarked my idea of "thin" on. So, that was awesome.
During dinner I was talking with my BIL. Over the course of our conversation he asked me how much I weighed. When I told him about 135 he said, "You don't look like you weight that much." He isn't a big time weight lifter but he is very into weight training and fitness so I trust his assesment of how I look. (By the way, I know that seems like a rude question for him to have asked. It wasn't though. I was talking openly about my weight and weight loss. He asked only after I mentioned that I wanted to lose another 15 pounds or so and he thought that would be too much).
The next day my sister stopped by for a visit and told me that my BIL had been very complimentary of how much I had changed - even told her that she needed to find out who cut my hair because it looked so good too!
Everybody seems to be commenting lately. Checkers at the grocery store & people I commute with on the ferry especially. One girl who I've ridden the bus with for 2 years asked me this morning how I'd lost so much weight since the summer When I told her I'd been slowly dropping weight for three years, she seemed very surprised. I'm amazed at how much more noticible this last 25 pounds is proving to be. (Even though it's such a small fraction of what I've lost all together.)

The other day I was riding in the car with my sister who is 5' 7" and a size 3. So not fair, I got crap genes. Anyway, she was going through my wallet and pulled out my college ID card which was taken when I was somewhere in the 230's I believe. Then she looked at me and said "wow, your face got so much smaller!"
big deal coming from her.

I had some nice compliments over Christmas. My Grandpa told me I'm still looking great, (I'm not planning on looking bad any time soon, lol!) and my brother, who I hasn't seen me in a year (I was 167 when he last saw me) told me I look really good.
It's so funny - I work with mostly men at a very large corporation where being PC is very "PC" - no one wants anything to seem like sexual harassment (not that I'm complaining). Anyway, right before Christmas an older man I worked with said he just wanted to "compliment me on my weight loss. I can tell you've been working hard at it". That was really nice to hear. Then yesterday another man that I've worked with before but haven't seen in many months sat down in my cubicle and said:
Him: "Have you lost weight?"
Me: "Yes - I've lost about 25 lbs"
Him: "On purpose? You're not sick and dying in 6 months?"
Me: "No"
Him: "then congratulations"
I thought that was so funny (not that I could be sick but that he wanted to make sure I wasn't before congratulating me). He's in upper management so he's very PC...
