I loved Water For Elephants! And I thought Size 12 is Not Fat was good too. I am getting ready to order Size 14 is Not Fat Either & Big Boned. Was going to get them all at once but I've heard different people who liked the book and others who didn't. So thought I would read the first one and then decide. Right now going to get back to Saving Graces...so I can be done with it!
I just got done reading Three Cups of Tea about Greg Mortenson building schools in Pakistan for the children. I am also reading a book called Switching Lives...really funny chick book...I am also reading The Punishment of Virtue: Inside Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban. I am about to start reading The Bookseller of Kabul.
I read a ton of books about Central Asia and the Middle East. So if y'all have any good recommendations or would like some just message me
I really enjoyed The Princess series by Jean Sasson. I actually enjoy all of her writing.

I just finished Stephenie Meyer's The Host, which was pretty interesting but not fantastic. I'm glad I didn't buy it.
Now I'm between books and I'm not sure what to read. I have some books coming in the mail from Bookswim but it will probably be another week and I certainly can't wait that long to start another one. I have some other stuff around the house, so I need to pick something out.
By next week, I'll probably be in the hospital having my baby!!!

Congrats on becoming a mommy!!! My mom keeps nagging about future grandchildren lol. Right now she only has a white fluffy grandchild who likes squeaky toys lol.
Three Cups of Tea was amazing and extremely positive which I like every once and a while
So funny you mentioned The Host because I saw it at Half Price Books my mecca of bookstores lol. I like sci-fi type of books, so who knows.
Oh I just got into the writer of Sex and the City, Candace Bushnell . I bought Lipstick Jungle and her other novels and I am hooked. She has one called 4 Blondes and then Trading Up. I highly recommend it if you want a good yay for women type of book She uses many of the same characters in her books so her characters are always evolving. It is highly addictive.
Someone just recommend the book Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Supposively she takes a year off to explore a more spiritual side to life and travels to India and etc.

Sarah - have you read Infidel? I can't remember the author's name, but she is living in hiding in Holland (although she is a politician). She was raised Muslim, and she is very outspoken about the oppression of women in Muslim cultures. It was just recommended to me, and I plan to read it before I go back to school (I teach).
My book club met tonight; we discussed Saturday by Ian MacKuen (is that right??). He wrote Atonement. I found it quite thought provoking, but it is very slow.

Claire-I just bought Infidel because I saw her on CSPAN discussing her life and she spoke about how Somalia will never be fixed. It is quite sad that there are death threats against this woman. She was here in the U.S. for a bit, but went back to Holland.

I liked Saturday and a few others by Ian McEwan, but Atonement is by far his best book. The movie was great but it still doesn't do the book justice, because it's simply brilliant, one of the best books I've ever read. When I read it I was in a new book club and I picked it as our selection -- only one person actually read it and the others said "too boring" or they didn't even try it. That was my first clue that I was in the wrong book club! They never read the book selections unless they chose them -- they were only in the club because we ate out at different restaurants every month. I'd like to get into a REAL book club one day! One where people actually read!!

The Audio File review is: Ram Mohammed Thomas is a waiter who gets the chance to appear on "Who Will Win a Billion?" on Indian TV. Even though the orphan has never been to school, an amazing sequence of coincidences allows him to answer the 12 questions correctly and win the billion rupees. The TV show thinks he must be cheating, especially since the producers hadn't planned on someone winning the billion before advertising revenue brought in more than the billion needed for the prize. So he is arrested. He tells his life story to his attorney, and through the questions the listener learns about his life and his real reason for going on the show.
I haven't read The Host by Stephanie Meyer but I may check it out from the library based on what you all have said. I read and enjoyed Twilight but gave up on New Moon because Bella annoyed the crap out of me.
I finished Stalking Darkness and the next in the Nightrunner series Traitor's Moon by Lynn Flewelling. Now I'm reading the 3rd Tiffany Aching book by Terry Pratchett, Wintersmith.
