I had a lovely day up in the Dales today. I got the bus up to Kettlewell, then pottered my way down the Dales Way, stopping off for a pint and some cake (mmm... fruit cake and wensleydale) in Grassington, then carrying on to Burnsall and getting the bus home. It was probably about 9 miles or so, so not too strenuous (or not considering I took all day to do a distance I'd normally cover in less than an hour and a half). I managed to remind myself why I've not taken up fell running. I got to Kettlewell and there were a load of runners warming up for a
race , just looking at them running up and down the hill behind the campsite where the race seemed to be based was scary. I can do roads, and i can do flat, but uphill across grass really isn't my cup of tea! On the other hand it would be nice to be able to do it - I can imagine the races are far more scenic than the ones I do!
