I noticed that no one has posted anything for a while, so I'm not sure how active this particular thread is, but I am very happy to have found it. In the last few days I've eaten beyond my calorie range. Today on the scale it said that I gained about 2 lbs...I freaked out before I realized that I ate chips and had beer last night which is going to cause water weight gain, and I do work out for an hour daily at the Y, w/ cardio and weights, so this is only a bump in the road. I have been weighing about 155 ( but people tend to guess I weigh 140 ). So I'm doing something right. I was glad to see that everyone feels the same way I do in cases of ideal weight charts. I play poker with two women, one is five six or five seven and weighs normally 130, but has shrunk to 115 due to a bad situation. It's just the way she is, she's even been to the Dr. about it. She's just a tiny framed person> i am five seven and am shooting for 145-150 right now, but with weights and working out more, who knows?

Also, even if I go beyond my caloric intake, it doesn't always mean I'll gain. I'm shooting for two lbs loss per week, which is a 1000 cals a day, so I may just lose less, or stay the same...

I was _so_ freakin' out before I saw this thread. I've calmed down and realized it's just a bump in the road.

I'm a newbie, too. I am 5'8" as well, and the lowest I've been in a while is 190. Right now that looks and sounds great. I felt great and could sit in the front passenger seat of the car and fold both legs onto the seat. I could also wear a M or L shirt off the rack and I was wearing a 16 pants.

The lowest I've ever been is 165 and I really didn't stay there long, but I was a size 12 or a 13 juniors (hard to imagine!). I am not really focusing on the scales or BMI... just want to be healthy. Since I'm almost the big 40, I think 170 sounds great to me! Hopefully that will translate into a size 12 again!

Well I used to weight 160 back in the day lol and was wearing a 12 jeans I want to get back to 160 but, I dont have to wear a 12 I would be happy in a 16. I do have to remember I haven't been that small since I was in high school but, for my hight 5'8 162 is where I supposed to be at I know I am going for 160 but, if I can get to 162 then that is fine with me I just have to keep up the good eating and working out to maintain my weight. I know its a long road to go down but, its even longer after I reach my goal.

I honestly wonder about some of those charts. Like others have said I am using body fat percentages, clothes size and generally how I feel.

I am 5'4" with a large frame, my wrist is almost 7 1/2 inches and it's probably one of the few places with no fat. So that's just the measurement of the wristbone.

I really want to be a size 14. I was all through high school, but I was constatnly comparing myself to my size 7 friends. Now I know, much too late, that I was fit and active and just right for me at the size I was. So my goal is eat as healthy as possible, move as much as possible and ditch the size 22 and get back to size 14.

Good luck everyone in your quest to your right weight/size. We can do it together!

I've always gone by the idea that you take 5 feet of height and call that 100 pounds. 5 pounds for every inch of weight above that. So for me at 5'6 I should weigh about 130 pounds. When I was young and thin, I looked good at that weight, and could have stood to lose maybe 5 pounds to 10 pounds more.

Now that I'm the age I am, and have been fat a lot of my life and have worked out a lot, I figure I have more muscle than I did then. My "fat percentage" information indicates that I would be about 150 or so without any fat, so I've been figuring I want to get to maybe 160 or so. I'll go all the way to 130 if I ever get to 160 and am not happy with the way I look, but I do think that age and muscle condition as well as frame size makes a difference. I have a large frame with a 7 inch wrist, so I figure I can carry a little more weight and still look good.

I'm 5'7" and 143(.5!) lbs. I'd be happy at this weight if my fat would just redistribute itself! I'm a little bottom-heavy and really aiming to tone more than lose pounds. According to weight charts, I'm just above the middle of the halfway 'normal' mark. They also say I could be as low as 125, but I think I would disappear!

This is a question I have struggled with lately. I know I shouldn't get so hung up on a number, but I am very number oriented and need a specific goal to shoot for. According to the BMI chart, I should be between 132 and 144 lbs. But according to the company wellness testing, my ideal weight range is 145-163 lbs. HUH? What is that based on? Since I have been obese my entire life, I have no memory of what I felt like at either weight. I do remember being in the 160's in high school and thinking I was the fattest person in the world. Of course, compared to my friends, I was.

For now I have set me goal at 140, but I am sure I will re-evaluate as I approach it to see how I feel. A visit to my doctor is in order, but I don't know what he is going to tell me either.

I am 5'9. When I was in college I weighed about 145. That put me in a size 6. When I was 185 and I wore a size 12. If I can get to that weight I will be happy. 145 was too small for me.

I am just under 5'5" and my wrist is almost 8". According to the charts, I should be between 136 and 150. At 120, I ended up in the hospital and wasn't released til I was up to 130. I am aiming for 135. I would be in a size 8, at least the last time I was there, I was an 8. But I truly would be happy in a 12.

I had my lean body mass calculated a few years ago and it came up to be around 170. Which means if I had no fat and was just skin, muscle, bone and organs, I'd weigh 170. I'm 5'6. I know as I lose weight, I'll also lose muscle considering it takes a lot of muscle to move my weight around. My legs are very muscular. I wouldn't say I'm larged boned but I'm probably medium/large.

I'm 5'11" and all the charts I've seen say between 150 and 175. Personally I think I'd be a stick at 175 (I have a big frame), but I have that listed as my current goal. If I get to Onederland (even 199), I'm going to have a party. I will probably re-evaluate my end goal as I get closer to it. I don't remember weighing less than 200 lbs, although I must have at some point.

My perspective now (although I think I've posted on here now). I couldn't ever imagine being 160. It seemed impossibly thin when I was sitting in the mid 250s. I couldn't possibly imagine that so much of me was redundant and useless. But now I'm here, I can see areas where I'd like to lose more. There are some parts of me that I wouldn't like to lose more weight from, and other areas where I would. If only I could spot reduce The truth is, even if you've been a certain weight before (which I hadn't, or not for long), your body may well look different this time round, and until you get there you just won't know. I still don't know exactly where I want to be, but I'm hoping I'll know it when I see it!
