I ate oatmeal cookie dough once with a big glass of milk. My stomach felt like a seagull that just ate an alkezelter -- KABOOM!!! Never again!

Whenever I get off track (and it's usually a gradual falling off and getting back on again) I stop worrying about the weight loss part and focus more on maintaining what I've lost so far. Once I'm back in the saddle again, then I move forward with the weight loss.

Also, you know when you get really sick, like the flu or something? I always think "O God, I'm going to feel like this for the rest of my life". But eventually, it passes and I get back to normal. I think falling off the wagon will always, always happen. There's just too much yummy stuff out there! Eating well and exercising MOST of the time will outway (weigh? ) the off times -- at least that's what I believe. I once read that "it's not what you eat between Thanskgiving and Christmas that's the problem. It's what you eat between Christmas and Thanksgiving that will get you into trouble". Being on plan 80% of the time has to have the upper hand over being off plan the other 20%, doesn't it? Like everyone else here has said, you've done great and will continue to do so.

Thanks for this post. Your thoughts and feelings are just like mine -- am I'm sure everyone elses!

Hi there,

You have not slipped up and it's not slipping away from you. This is life and every once in awhile you hit a bumpy bit. I've not even started but in reading what you achieved so far it is nothing short of awesome to me. You are in a place that I can't even begin to imagine and even though the place you are right this day is not the place you want to be......I get the feeling that you will be back on track very quickly. Good luck and let me know how it goes..........

Hey Robin, haven't been on this week til now so forgive my delayed reaction.

I can see why you got worried, after all, that love of food and allowing yourself to eat tasty things at your little heart's content was exactly how you became overweight, as you noted. Often when we get really focused on losing weight we will actually truly lose our appetite and it almost seems easy to say no to food, which just isnt that tempting to us at that point. However, the reality is that candy, cookies (uh..yummy?!), need I go on..are INDEED tempting and delicious to the average human. And you will once again get tempted to experience the joy of a tasty cookie melting in your mouth.

The difference between overweight people and average sized people is that the healthier sized person will have that cookie, or 2 or even 3, but they wont have 10 or 20. And it wont be every night. My point being, it is OK to like cookies..we all do. It is not OK to tell yourself you can eat WHATever you want WHENever you want. That is the old Robin and your not interested in gorging on 10 or more cookies at a time because that will ruin your goals and will render you unhealthy if continued with reckless abandon. One cookie will not
