  • Hi everyone,

I'm new to this thread and you were all inspiring me to do the extra work! I have been working on the 30 day Shred (Jillian Michaels) but I want to see if I can push myself to do more. I've always wanted to be one of those people you see jogging with ease...lol...we will see if I can get there. I am going to try going out for Day1 jog/walk after supper. Let's see if I can make it. I'll report back.

    Thanks for inspiring!
  • Hello! I am new here but I just finished week 6 today. It felt so AWESOME! Running 25 minutes straight made me feel on top of the world! I'm glad that all of week 7 is the same run so I can work on my pacing, my first ever 5k is on Labor Day and I am so pumped.
  • I did it! I just finished Day1 of C25K....I know it's not as good as the rest of you but I have NEVER been able to jog that much! Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred has really boosted my cardio in comparison to just a week and a half ago.

    Tomorrow I shall run again!

Allowatt---AMAZING JOB! I would be so proud too if I could run for 25 min or even think to get to 5K. Great job!

Thank you :-) And congratulations on doing day 1. I have to say, once I had finished Week 1 Day 1, I was like, "There is no way I am going to be running 20 minutes straight in 5 weeks." But I'll be danged if I didn't do it. You just have to be diligent with it, and believe in yourself. Power to ya, Peg!
  • Quote: W9D1. I RAN FOR THREE MILES!!!!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

    According to my Nike+....Distance 3.1 Time 38.07 Pace 12.38

If I can make it to this point, anyone can! For reals!
CONGRATS!! I can't wait to get there! Keep it up!
  • OH. EM. GEE.

I SO did not want to go out and run this morning!!! No idea why... plenty of sleep, perfectly hydrated, chest and glutes were only a little sore from weight training yesterday.... but DAAAAANG I did not want to go out!!! Totally mental. I piddled around forever before finally lacing up my shoes and actually doing it.

Here was my thought process the whole time I was out:
    "ugh. So humid."
    "ugh! Garbage day!"
    "ugh!!! Freaking hills."
    "UGGGHHH GARBAGE DAY!!!"
    "UUUGGGGHHHHHH GOOSE POOP!!!!"
    "UGGGGGHHHHHHHHH GARBAGE TRUCK IAMGOINGTOPUKE!"
"Whew. Almost done. Why am I doing this to myself?"
    "@#($#*@( HILLS!!!!!!"
    "Oh, almost home. Sweet."
"Thank you Lord for the freezer that I can stick my head into now!"
"Hmmm. Wonder what I can do on Friday to improve my runs?"

Pacing was a little slow, couldn't catch my breath for the life of me... BUT I STILL DID IT. Despite my head telling me I couldn't the whole time. Its only Week 2, day 2... please tell me it gets easier mentally! No idea what was wrong with me this morning!!! If Friday isn't any better I may be repeating Week 2... I feel like such a wimp for saying that.

Rochester, you're my freaking C25K HERO! So awesome.
  • Miss Scarlett way to get out there and run even though you didn't feel like it!!! And yes, it does get a little bit easier, once you reach a certain point.

I came on here to gush. I just did W7D1 and couldn't figure out why I felt so unbelievably zapped for the whole run. My inner voice was saying some really negative stuff the whole time. Well, it turns out that I did 2 miles in 21:25!!! Yesterday I was huffing and puffing to get it done in 22:30. No wonder I was feeling so out of it, my pace was way faster! Anyway I had to share cuz I'm pretty excited. Now on to yoga!
  • I did W5 D2 today and am a bit worried about W5D3. I am going to give it my best shot and if I do not make it through I will redo W5D2 a few times then go for it again.

Miss Scarlet - You went out and you did it! That is so great. There are days that I feel that way, but usually I am actually pretty much in the moment and I am SHOCKED to say happy to be out.
It is no big deal if you feel you need to repeat weeks. I did week 1 for atleast 5 days before moving on to week 2.

Allowatt - Woooo hoooo, great job with W7D1!

W5D3 is not nearly as bad as it looks. If you pace yourself and have the right tunes/music/distractor (is that a word), you can definitely do it! If you don't quite make it, try til you can! It's a definite turning point in the program.
  • Rochester!!! I am SO proud of you for accomplishing W9D1!!! You're SO close to the finish line! That is truly fantastic.

I see a couple new people! Hooraaaaaay new people! Super glad to have you here, guys! This group is an amazing source of support, motivation, and inspiration... Not to mention laughs!

Another 30 minute run under my belt today! I ran *slightly* faster than my normal pace, and managed to run 2.15 miles in 30 minutes. Throw in the walking at the beginning and end, and I made it 2.62 miles! I'm really feeling great about everything I've been doing lately. Next week school starts back up again, so my Tuesdays and Thursdays are going to be long and whatnot... Not to mention I'm taking a step aerobics class! So assuming I keep up with running 3 days a week(and I definitely intend to!), I'll be doing that PLUS step aerobics in between the runs! I'm going to learn to treasure my weekends, I'm sure... Absolutely crazy, I tell ya!

I did it!!! It was actually easier than I thought it would be.

    Thank you for the encouragement.

WAY TO GO!!! That is so great! The next run will be easier :-)
  • I did day 2 of week 1 C25K! I'm pretty proud of myself. Didn't really feel like going out last night, but I'm glad I did. I always try to go out after dinner because it seems like that is the time I want to snack and have crazy cravings! What do you all do to kill the temptations? lol

Oh and I was also wondering if anyone has tried Jiliian's water cleanse recipe? Does it help? I already drink a lot of water and tried it yesterday...doesn't taste bad, but just wondering if any of you had any thoughts? Thanks....EVERYONE keep up the WONDERFUL WORK!
  • Just stopping by to offer encouragement. I had been running for years so never used the C25K program until recently to increase my speed. Stick with it, you are all doing great. My plan was to use C25K intervals for increasing my speed. Just to let you know it works for that too! I ran the 5K this morning in 23 minutes even & was at 36 minutes & 29 seconds for the 5 mile mark. The last 7 or 8 minutes were a struggle this morning, it was very humid but I was still pleased with the results.
  • Hi! I'm Leanne and I'm starting Sunday. :-)

I did part of c25K about two years ago and really enjoyed it. Man, did my waist shrink! I signed up for my first 5K on October 17th. Going to read back through the thread for some good podcast ideas.
