  • DH says he has difficulty swallowing some solid foods and felt like he was choking once Friday which makes him afraid to eat. We knew this was possible... it could be normal which will only be temporary for a few days or it could be something else. Please pray with me that it is just a normal situation which will go away in a day or two. You know they go into the neck from the front left side and have to move the vocal cords etc over so they can work so I'm sure it takes a while for it to adjust back to normal. He was blessed to be able to talk without much hoarseness which is why the doc said he goes in on the left side. Thanks guys. I so appreciate y'all's prayers.
  • Sorry been under weather, praying for you Gary and Rosebud, and all here. Hang in there, remember foot steps in the sand and Jesus loves you very much.
  • BOOTSIE ~ nice to hear from you; and thanks for that reminder -- I have always loved that poem/story "FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND", and often think of it whenever I need some extra encouragement. That story always reminds me of the verse ~ Isaiah 46:4 ~ "I will carry you ..." (and more). I was reading verses in Isaiah tonight; and thought how it really was a book of hope with so many promises to help us get through health issues and grief.

I have heard so many different possible symptoms from the chemo; and I may have some or very little. I thought that it was interesting they told me to pack a lunch to bring with me becuz I would be there a long time. Later on, I thought that must mean that they think that I'll be able to eat then. I will bring lots to drink too: water, juice, and gingerale, I think.

TRISH ~ that does make sense: if they went in through the throat, that it will take a few days for him to be able to talk clearly and eat normally. Maybe he should stick with creamy or soft foods like puddings, etc for a few days. When I was in the hospital, I had a hoarse voice and very sore throat from the tubes in my nose/throat. That did go away by the end of the first week. So sending up prayers that it's just a sore throat kind of thing for TONI too.

I know they tell you about all the possible side effects; and you hope & pray that there will be none, or minimal at the least. I am taking stuff with me to do (books, puzzles, and music) just in case I do get a bit nauseated -- some say keeping busy helps.

I'm trying to tweak my plan this week; slowly eating less so I can maintain my weight. Funny how they wanted me to eat more; and now I am gaining weight, they tell me to eat less. The DA said not everyone has weight-loss and nausea/vomiting issues, but that I may. They suggested that I start eating even MORE veggies and lay off any junkies.

So, I have a little conflicting advice going on here. I don't want to gain anymore either, so I think I need to figure out how much I can eat now that I don't have that giant tumor in there sharing my food ...

They also told me that I WILL lose my hair; so they fudged the first time, but were more forthright this second visit. She said that the first round is for observation and my hair will start falling out after the 2nd or 3rd session. I just hope that I don't have any anxiety episodes; but thank goodness they don't last long if I pray and do my breathing techniques which help a lot. These anxiety issues run in our family, so I am praying for healing for our whole family for that.

Sending up ^PRAYERS^ for you and yours, as always ...
  • Rosebud, I wish I could be there to hold your hand, but I am with you in spirit and praying for you . Praying, also for calmness and peace for your family.
  • I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, Rosebud.
  • Rosebud-I'll be saying prayers for you tomorrow. When you feel that little touch on your hand--- that is all of us there with you.

Gary--Also saying prayers for you that all goes well for you too. Remember you have all of us warriors there with you too.
  • My prayers are with you today Rosebud.

Still have my surgery scheduled for Monday afternoon. They sre really trying to get me strong enough to handle it.

Still waiting to get that "we're here" call from the maternity ward where I'm at from GRANDdaughter3!

    I love you all.

Gary, we have an army of prayer warriors in place , committing your surgery to God's hands, praying for wisdom for every member of your medical team and praying that your family will have peace at this time.

    Praying for you tomorrow too.
  • I know not everyone likes country music but I heard this song on Country Family Reunion last night and think that it is just such an awesome song. This is Ed Bruce singing "I Know" Not much else needed to say about it.....

  • Thank you for sharing that, Karen. I got goosebumps and a lump in my throat listening to that.
  • Karen - Thanks for the song. It is so wonderful to know that our Father knows how we feel.

Gary and Rosebud - Already have prayers going up for y'all tomorrow that God will give you both strength. Praying for Rosebud to have little or no side effects. And Gary for a successful surgery with quick recovery. Praying for this to be just a memory as you move on with a life serving the Master.

Bootsie - I was just wondering about you and here you are. So hope you are feeling better. Are you going to be getting the snow coming to TX in a few days?

Prayers continue for all. And I thank you for all of your prayers for us. I love you guys. I was thinking today how neat it is that althought we may never know each other here in the flesh that someday we will meet each other in Heaven. GOD IS SO GOOD!!!
  • Want to echo what's been said about prayers going up for Gary and Rosebud for tomorrow. You are both so loved and have been such blessings to us all that praying for you both is the least we can do. I hope you can both feel our Father's touch as He guides your physicians and heals your bodies.
  • THANKS SO MUCH, EVERYONE ~ you give me such great support and I can feel your love; so much so that it gives me such peace, even right now I can feel it. It was so needed as DH was very confused and troubled all last night -- don't think I got even one hour of sleep.

So I just sat up and prayed & praised almost all night long for peaceful sleep, comfort & calm; serenity & tranquility; clarity of thought; and of course, angel protection from harm for all of us. By morning, he was much better and right now he is fast asleep and we hope he has a good one.

I took my pills a little late, but will get them all in today in preparation for tomorrow and will also go to bed earlier tonight. I just wanted to come in and thank you all for your support at this time; it means more to me right now than you could ever imagine. You are the best ...

GARY ~ been sending up lots of prayers here and will continue to through tomorrow and beyond as well. I have a good idea of what you will go through tomorrow and will pray about that too -- that all will go well for the surgeons and you; plus peace for ANGIE and your family ...

ISAIAH 42:6 -- I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee ...

Finally got some bills sent out today. My sister and I made a really nice dinner tonight: baked chicken in homemade BBQ sauce with mash and steamed veggies (baby carrots and broccoli). It was great! So away I go to finish packing my carry-all bag (done really); and a small lunch for tomorrow, to make sure I have lots of liquids to drink and in case, I feel well enuff to eat after all -- sure hope so. Gotta be up real early.

Once again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRAYERS and encouraging words; and you know that you are all in my prayers as well ...
