  • Time to Get Started
    Hiya All!

I'm joining and my Day 1 will be this Monday, October 7th. I'm super excited. Today I am reading and starting to plan my meals

  • PS - Stay Strong chrgrl! I'm here and reading your posts
  • Great! I hope you will also consider posting your daily menus. It helps me to get ideas of new things to try!
  • Day 5:

B: 2 egg omelet with tomatoes, mushrooms, and spinach (this is the 1st omelet I have ever made successfully, thanks to Youtube!) with low carb ketchup
    coffee

S: plain greek yogurt with 1 packet Truvia and SF raspberry preserves
    apple

L: chicken veggie soup from book

S: cottage cheese with probiotics mixed in

Dinner will probably be a salad with either tuna or grilled chicken and leftover green beans that were steamed the other day.

I missed out on 1 fruit today if you don't count the SF raspberry preserves (which I typically don't). Have not been doing so great on water today, although yesterday I drank a TON.

confession: each day I have been having 1 of those single serving International Delight creamers in my coffee, with a packet of Truvia. This is not on plan; but I'm not willing to give it up unless the scale come Tuesday morning hasn't moved at all, which I don't think will be the case. Also, today I bought some green tea capsules because I just can't drink that stuff!
  • My first day is Monday and I am looking forward to it. I did atkins successfully for several years but unfortunatly I never really learned to correctly reintroduce foods and am hoping that while lc to a point that my body might respond to this. Also the 17 day cycle seems doable. I kept hitting a plateau on Atkins, would get frustrated and then eat more and more.
  • Ive made it to dinner on my first day and trying to control the habit of munching after work before dinner.

Ive had two small to average size fruit serving, 1/2 cup raspberries, small apple
    2 hard boiled eggs
    4 ounces turkey
3 green leaf lettuce leaves to make a wrap
1 sugar free low carb Greek yogurt
Ive had my 8 glasses of water

Dinner will be baked chicken a large bed of salad that is made up of kale, spinach, baby leaf lettuce, shredded broc, cucumbers, multicolor peppers, mushrooms
Possibly a steamed veggie as well
  • Day 7 (!):

B: 2 hard boiled eggs, small apple, coffee
S: plain greek yogurt with truvia and SF raspberry preserves
L: salad with spinach, grilled chicken, FF feta, olive oil, FF dressing
    grapes
S: cottage cheese with probiotics mixed in
D: baked tilapia with roasted asparagus

    weigh-in tomorrow morning!

mainecyn: the 1st few days it was really hard not to eat between dinner and bedtime, but now it doesn't seem so hard. i just brush my teeth early and drink lots of water.
  • I have the book but admit I'm still little confused but will just keep reading until I figure it out. I did Atkins for 4 years previously so I'm trying to break some other habits. I need to really figure out the difference between cycles etc. I want a snack before bed but not allowing it. Is that forbidden? I do remember reading not to eat carbs after 2 pm so I had my last fruit at 1 today.
  • Down 8 lbs after the 1st week! I will probably not weigh myself again until the end of the 1st cycle.

I don't think evening snacks are forbidden, it's just that I have already had my fruit by that time and my yogurt and cottage cheese and don't like to snack on veggies, lol.
  • That I understand, snacking on raw veggies don't do much for me late in the night. Protein would, plus the yogurt is more of a comfort and just feels good when I eat it, almost sinfully good and smooth.

I am still in the middle of trying to read the book and absorb all I can.

I am eating on target today

    1 yogurt
    1 apple
several ounces of turkey wrapped in large green lettuce leaves
    cucumber slice
    onion slices
red and orange pepper rings all on my sandwich wrap

Ive had my water as well.

I am wondering what these changes will mean for me in a week when I try stepping on the scale?

I went back and read a great deal online, and in this thread, about the 17 day diet, I had never heard of it before, didn't know that it had been on a couple of tv shows several years ago. I feel behind as everyone else has known about this a while. I found it by accident, stumbled onto the "diet". I hope it works for me.
  • B: small apple, coffee, and egg salad (kind of cheated there, I usually eat at the hospital and they didn't have HB eggs today, so I went with egg salad)
S: plain low fat greek yogurt with truvia and SF raspberry preserves
L: salad with tuna, spinach, tomatoes, FF feta, olive oil, and FF dressing
    grapes
S: cottage cheese with probiotics mixed in
D: grilled chicken and green beans with some olive oil drizzled on.

Was really craving sweets today but didn't cave in. I wonder when the cravings end?

Your meals sound great, mine always seem unappealing. I am still having the yogurt for snacks or breakfast, then my fruit during the day at work, generally a small apple, or something like it. I did have carrots at work today, I haven't been eating veggies except for dinner.

I still think I am over eating somewhere, at home after work. I have to admit I stepped on the scale this morning to see if I had gained any weight from the disastrous weekend I had. I hadn't gained, or lost.
  • B: coffee (i had a doc appt, was running late, didn't eat a real breakfast)
S: Dannon light 'n fit greek vanilla yogurt - man, this stuff is good!
L: omelet with ground turkey, mushrooms, and onions. I will admit I also threw some shredded cheese in, and it wasn't fat free, or even low fat. We're talking an ounce or less.
S: Dannon light 'n fit greek vanilla yogurt, large apple, another coffee.
D: chicken veggie soup from the book (it's good and filling; i add mushrooms because I love them and omit the celery (gross) and okra (because I always forget to buy it at the store; this time I also added about 2 tsp of garlic powder. I make mine in the crockpot instead of on the stove).

so i missed out on 1 fruit today; i am not sure the apple was large enough to count as 2 fruit servings.

tomorrow i am going to a bonfire and will likely not stay on plan, but i am at least going to try to avoid the breads (ie, hot dog buns) and the desserts.
  • not quite as successful at the bonfire as I'd hoped; I had 2 bunless plain hot dogs, a few bites of baked beans, a fun size Nestle crunch, and a big brownie.

oh well. last year I probably ate 3 times as much, and i DID avoid the bread!

having a HB egg, 1/2 grapefruit, and coffee this AM for breakfast and going on a hike later!
