hi there. so far this has been the easiest surgery i've ever had. the worst part was the wait beforehand. the doctor attached a "pain medicine ball" with a catheter next to the incision. it dispenses pain meds without my having to do anything. i have felt no pain at all from the surgery.

kathy, your injury is much worse than mine, but i'm wondering if a pain med ball might help you. my incision was superficial on top the foot. i don't know if the med ball would do the same for a severe trauma or not but it would be worth asking. i go to the doctor wed. right now i'm feeling great and would love to walk down the stairs. the shower down there is easier to maneuver in as well as my recliner and big screen tv/dvd player (and laundry) are there. i may venture down the stairs later. we'll see.

frouf, i was concerned that he didn't do the mri and cats earlier. last summer we did some sort of nuclear test that i thought had let him see everything. guess i was wrong. i do remember the techie telling me that everywhere on the screen that a light showed up--there was a foot problem. my feet lit up like christmas trees.

vickie, i am so sorry jim fell. that's scarey. no wonder you couldn't go back to sleep. hope all goes as well with jim as it has with me. the pre-stuff is the worst for me. the recupe has been fantastic. the injections are to lessen the inflammation and hopefully relieve the spur pain. he said i'd always have to wear orthodics because of the plantar fasciitis.

vickie, i'm typing this in a separate paragraph because it is highly important. the doctor said heel spur surgery is much more complicated and harder to recupe. that plus i'm not having pain due to mine are why he's not operating on my heel spurs right now. you might need to discuss heel spur surgery with your doctor. are you in a lot of pain from them? the way my doctor talked surgery shouldn't be done till about the last effort.

i am going to rejoin ww next friday. that will be my official weigh in day. i was thinking pain meds would have me knocked out and i would lose weight at least today but it doesn't look like it. (i'm not complaining. i'm glad i feel soooo good.)

melissa, congratulations on moving those scales. i'm happy for you. thanks for the tip about the sb cookies/crax.

saundra, i bought some SAS sandals. i don't know if i'll be able to wear them. i'm going to talk to the doctor. he has already told me i'm going to have to wear some support on my feet always. oh, well. i sure hope the SAS shoes work. i'm not wanting to wear these "granny cloppers" all summer.

kathy, everyone's right. you need to eat. the meds might burn your stomach. you don't need stomach ulcers, etc...

frouf, what a day you had with your eyes. i hope you can use your peepers now; plus, i hope there weren't any frouf fatalities.

kathy, i am sorry you're not coming to montana. we should be able to meet next winter. let us know what you decide for vacation. have you thought of hawaii?

coco, sounds like you're getting a lot of good exercise. i need to prune rosebushes. i have over 100 and they all need it. maybe in a week or so i'll get out there if recupe keeps going as well.

angela, our grands don't get spring break here but they get out of school a week earlier than other area schools.

kathy, it's none of my business but i think if judd gives shaun the boot, you need to back him 100% for all of your good--even shaun's. (now please don't get mad at me. i know this is none of my business but i love you and worry about you)

Sandra, as ticked as I am with Shaun, I would have no problem supporting whatever Judd wanted to do. I doubt it would come to that because as much as Judd threatens to do it, he would never do anything with such lasting consequences especially knowing the fragile state I'm in right now. Fortunately the subject didn't come up last night. And it's the weekend, so Judd will be around a lot to help me. Tonight is the monthly poker game with the guys at work but he's not going. I think he's going to try and play golf tomorrow but it'll only be a few hours and he'll set me up with food and drink before he goes. Monday is the doctor appointment and he still says he isn't going to the game. We hope by Tuesday, I'll get to move from the bed to the couch. Right now the doctor wants me staying in the bed only, not the recliner or couch or anywhere else. I am able to get the five feet to the bathroom and back with relative ease. It's impossible to walk without the crutches and I have a lot of cuts and scrapes on my arms that rub on the crutches, so that makes it a little painful.

Anyway, enough of my complaining. When you hear an orthopedic surgeon saying that's the worst ankle injury he's ever seen, it sorta gets your attention. Thank goodness they were able to call him in Saturday night for the surgery and I didn't have to wait or be moved to Dallas.

kathy, i'm wishing you the best of recoveries. you know how bossy i am so here's another suggestion--walker. that's much easier than crutches. i got mine for $18.50 for a month at a local supply house. i'd ship it to you if i could. i am using it, but not much.

my surgery was superficial. there wasn't much trauma at all. i go to the doctor wed but i know me. i'll be maneuvering stairs wayyyy before then. (prob tonight)

I don't think they'd let me use a walker yet, since I can't put the broken one on the ground. I'd have to hop while holding the walker and would probably kill myself as clumsy as I can sometimes be. Hopefully next week I'll be able to use the wheelchair and can get up out of bed. This is getting old!

i can imagine. do you have some dvd's you could watch on your puter?

Hey, what a good idea! I never thought of that! Judge shows are starting to be reruns, and I don't watch soap operas. The news is depressing, there's no DVD player on the TV in the bedroom but I forgot about the laptop. I'll check that out. Thanks for the idea!

i have a dell laptop and dvd's work on it. i was thinking that's what you have, too.

Judd said it should work but he also said we might try to move me to the couch tomorrow. That way I can have some different scenery and will also be able to yell at people when I need something.

I think I'm just starting to get really, really tired of this. Now he told me he's playing golf both Saturday and Sunday so I'll be home alone. Maybe I can have a really big pity party. I'll invite the dogs.

get you some chick flicks and enjoy yourself best you can. curtis is a bit snippy right now. i think he needs ice cream. he gets this way when he's dieting.

LOL! I know how he feels! Judd is stopping on his way home from the gym to get me some Mexican food. I asked for fajitas and that way I can eat the meat and peppers/onions but add my own FF sour cream and cheese. One good thing about not eating there is that I won't be having a margarita OR a big basket of chips and salsa.

Speaking of the margarita, I guess you guys realize I haven't had any beer (or anything else for that matter) all week. What a way to stop drinking, huh?

Sandra, I am so glad that things went so well for you. I don't even know what sprurs are, but thank goodness it is done. Now, just relax and recuperate.

Kathy, you've got a lot on your plate. Maybe we all should come to your house and hang out. Wouldn't that be great? There are so many good movies out there to rent. Go on to Blockbusters web sight and have a peak. Oh, and make sure that you have lots of food and drink for your weekend days alone. Gee, I'm bossy.

Vickie, did you have a fun day? It was an absolutely gorgious one here, we had a record high temperature and sunshine, I even wore sandals.

The WW morning was good, but there are so many forms and stats and it really was busy from 9 to 11. The gal I'm with is very nice and at least it was a good experience. I'll go back a couple of half days next week, and then see if I'm ready to go solo.

After hair (major cut and colour), I went and bought a pair of black dress pants. Mine are just too big and I need something other than jeans to wear. I was told that there is a good seamstress not far from home and if it won't be too expensive, I'll start having some of my clothes altered.

kathy, i could use some mexican food, too. we had chicken salad sandwiches and pistachio/pineapple pudding for dinner. my doctor called a few minutes ago. i have the all clear to go downstairs tonight. the shower stall down there is much easier to maneuver in than the tub upstairs. did i tell ya'll that we live on a mountainside. our upstairs is ground level when you drive up. the downstairs is where we "live" at night. it's quieter and we have the big screen tv. now that's important!!

what a way to give up margaritas and beer. you'll be off both till your off pain meds, i imagine. i can't have anything either.

the doctor said the pain ball should last for 4 days and that should get me over the rough period. i told him this was the easiest i'd ever had after surgery. he said that was the way it was supposed to be.

kathy, i know yours is much much worse due to the extent of your injuries. i wish we could get together to recupe.

saundra, your ww meeting sounds good. i envy your getting to work for them. just think how much that will help others as well as you to stay op.
