  • Quote: Well I'm back from the gym and I'm HAPPY to say that I've dropped my body fat % by 5 points...I went from 39.5 to 34.3..in just 4 weeks....I've lost 2 inchs from my chest, 2 from my waist, 1/2 from my hips and 1 from my thigh..now thats really got me pumped to keep going..

robsia-congrats on your loss for april..
    WOW...how inspiring!
  • ^^^ I agree, very inspiring!

A successful Day 3 for me with ~1200 calories and 30 minute walk.
  • Wow...I missed a day and look at all the chattin'! Welcome to the newbies...everyone here is awesome. I have learned so much...

Well I have not been going off of my plan ...but I have been horrible at writing it down and logging it in the computer. I usually eat the same types of food and have not gained any weight...but I do not want to fall off the proverbial . ..WAGON. So I will get back to writing it down!..

Did anyone happen to see the Oprah show on Monday! Dr Oz was on and wow that was really informative..I wish that I would have taped it! I forgot!

    Have a great day everyone!...hope it's a deficit kind of day!....Blyn
  • BlynC - I saw Oprah on Monday. I went home from work early due to a headache. My plan was to rest and hope to sleep it off. Of course, I turned on the tv and saw the preview for Oprah. Needless to say, no nap for me. Monday was my first official day of calorie counting and the timing of that show could not have been any better for me. It was amazing how they went thru that woman's kitchen and got rid of the unhealthy foods. Anyway, I was very motivated and it has helped keep me on track this week.

I've done great this week, but the weekend is coming. I hope that I can keep on track with the eating and get some exercise in as well. Knowing that I HAVE to check in with you ladies on Monday will be my motivator.
  • Kathy ..I know what you mean the weekends are harder for me too! We have a weekly card game with another couple on Saturday nights..I always eat light during the day and then not worry about what I eat that night. I try to remember that one meal or one night is not what made me fat!....good luck this weekend!... Blyn
  • Robsia - way to go on this month's loss, that's totally awesome! NICE deficit too!

Donna - wow, 5%, that is amazing. And all those inches, you must be so proud!

Fishwoman - nice calories and exercise, don't sweat the chips (or at least only sweat them off ) I am sure it will get easier

Tresor - I think 364 calories a day is doable, as long as you don't rely on those 3 lbs showing up exactly on time, I've noticed weight loss can be a week or two behind sometimes, even when the deficits add up. I love all the ratios in fitday as well, gives you other things to focus on than calories and the scale

Susan - least you are hanging in there through all this, hope you got in the weight lifting, I know it was on my to-do and I completely forgot about it, but there's always tonight

Valerie - nice deficit, you are so good at getting in that exercise!

ckatgo - I guess that's why I don't have too many planned 'free' days. I do count everything, no matter how miserable it is, and it usually makes me feel pretty bad afterwards too

TylerDurden - wtg on three days in a row!

BlynC - I know what you mean about getting off like that, sometimes I will neglect it for a few days and when I log it it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be, hope yours is the same

Deficit of a mere 226 for me yesterday, but at least it was a deficit. I should have worked out, but my calories, food and protein were all good so going to take it as a good day overall. Had a work lunch yesterday and I was very good and had soup and salad. I know soup and salad restaurant style tends not to be as low cal as if I had made it myself, but it was a good choice I think and a lunch I really had to attend. Have eaten mostly "natural" and "clean" foods now for 3 days and am feeling much better for it, just need to get in the exercise to make it perfect!
  • I can't seem to get on track..I seem to go off calories by at least 1-200 calories a day!!! Its crazy!!

I calorie zig zag..and man that may not work for me, because I want to stay off plan after the higher calorie days! I am going to give it a bit more then I may have to pick an amount of calories and just stay there...

YIKES...However this is only the first week for me....I need to be gentler on myself here...
  • I'm going to bed while the going is good. I have an 886 cal deficit for today! One good day in. For a change
  • Thanks Ladies..Yes I feel very proud..I cant stop telling people...Anyway I've gone out to eat the last 2 nights and it's too hard to but in fitday..I don't think I did that bad but I don't think I have a deficit either but tomorrow I will be back on track...I've been trying to finish up things for my daughters prom and graduation...boy is it alot of work...

Miles- glad to hear your on track with the eating now just get moving...

Wow everyone is doing such a great job...I love coming on this thread
  • Yesterday was another on-plan day for me, Day Four: ~1200 calories and 30 minutes on the exercycle.

So now we approach the weekend, which is always harder for me. I have two meals out on my schedule, both Mother's Day celebrations (1 for my mom and 1 for my mom-in-law). I have already looked at the menus online and pre-planned my meals and even logged them in my journal so hopefully I'll stay on track. I have my first weigh-in on Monday morning and I don't want a messy weekend to screw up all the effort I have put in so far!

Ckatgo: It sounds to me like you are doing fine, and maybeyou should relax on yourself a bit. 1-200 calories doesn't seem like wildly out-of-control, and as you said it's only been one week trying the zig-zag. Hopefully it will work out for you.

Blues4miles: way to go on the clean eating! I need to do more of that myself. I particularly need more veggies!

Tresor: like you I worry a bit about the weekends! But we can do it, right?

I wish I had seen the Oprah show ya'll are talking about, I'm sure it would have been motivating to watch!
  • Ckatgo - I know what you mean, I can't zigzag much either. I find my hunger/mind gets in a rhythmn and if I leave it alone and eat well for long enough it will be prepared to stay at that. Did you eat bad foods? If I have a little sugar, I just crave more, but if you ate well than at least that was 200 GOOD calories.

Susan - way to go on the deficit, one good day is another good start!

Donna - sounds like things are pretty hectic, two meals out won't hurt you much especially if it sounds you did okay. I think it's great about your gym results, I'd be telling everyone too!

TylerDurden - Way to go on the calories and exercise again, I know what you mean about the weekend being difficult. All of my weekends are a challenge, and yes even though I LOVE veggies they are always a struggle for me.

Deficit of about 240 yesterday, hurt a little by a few chocolate chip cookies (my own fault, completely) and still no activity. I've just been so tired lately, I know exercise would give me more energy but getting into the habit of it is always hard at first. The good news I had 36% protein yesterday, so I am feeling really good about that. Going to try not to go overboard this weekend and going to try to get some movement in. I am hoping to do a little shopping, so maybe I will burn a few calories strolling around clothes stores
  • Four days of calorie counting with FitDay and I'm already seeing results. YIPPEE!! Now for the challenge - WEEKEND! We're going out to dinner tonight so I'm planning my food choices for the day accordingly. We're supposed to have crappy weather this weekend but that will give me the time to be inside and get in some extra time on the treadmill and start working on my strength training routine that I need to incorporate with the improved eating habits. Two weeks ago, I would grab a box of Cheerios for breakfast and now I'm trying to be sure that I get protein in my breakfast. What a change. Good luck to everyone and have a great weekend.
  • Good Morning, All! Sounds like we are all gearing up for the weekend. Hope it is good for everyone!

Susan: Yeah! Great deficit...now for one more day! I go to bed too, its the safest thing to do sometimes!

Miles: Thanks for the encouragement and I did log everything and actually had a deficit each day...I knew I was eating well just not recording. Good job getting in the protein. I really struggle with that. Hope you have an active weekend and get rid of the tiredness! Exercise is such a pain in the (you know what)...

Tyler: Way to stay on plan and good luck with the weekend..I know that I struggle with them too and we have a big pot luck on Saturday. I can't even think of what I should make....hmmmm...

ckatgo: I too cannot seem to calorie zig zag successfully. I find I want to eat too much on the low calorie days. I do seem to zig a little some days a little over some under but when you average the week I am usually under.

I got the recording done and all caught up. I even logged a few hundred calories just for the things I forgot I ate and still had a deficit. Yesterday was a great day! 1024 deficit and I am helping my best friend start eating clean and we spent 2 hours at the grocery store shopping for good stuff! It was really fun shopping with a friend and we are going to keep each other accountable and encouraged! She really needs it and is not to savvy on the puter! otherwise I would tell her to come here for the best support!
  • Hi Everyone!

I zig zag my calories also. It's easy for me when I have my cheat meal out on saturday I'm high and try to stay lower the rest of the week. I do feel that being higher on Saturday keeps my system from getting to use to a certain amount of calories.

Wednesday: 1602 calories, 1034 deficit, 45 minutes Tae Bo
  • I'm soo stressed out right now...I broke down crying today and now my eyes are burning and I have a bad headache...I will be so glad whn this is all over...prom is tomorrow and at least I will have that one past...I worked all afternoon folding and stuffing invitations...almost done just need address labels...

I haven't been back to the gym since thurs...I'm going to go in a few..I could use the workout to relax...lol..sounds funny workout to relax but it really does help relieve stress...

blyn-sounds great to have a shopping buddy...that way you can't buy anything bad...you have someone to tell you NO...

Kathy-Glad your doing good with so far...I love using fitday...Hope your weekend goes good for you

Miles-great job having a deficit and high protein day after the cookies..I'm sure you'll have a great weekend..now just get moving and while your at it kick me in the butt too...

Tyler-congrats on make day 4..I know the first week is the hardest and your half way there..keep it up
