  • Good evening! I don't know where to start. This week has been a whirlwind. I'm on call again for work, and it sucks this week. Monday night I got paged at 1am, last night 3am and 5am. I've been up since the 3am call. It's so hard to go back to sleep. I was into work at 630, left at 4, and had to run to the vet to pick up meds for a cat. Yay! Too say the least, I am exhausted, I only slept 4 hrs. I hope to h*ll nobody pages me tonight, or they will probably get an earful. The worst part is, those calls really did not need to be made at those hours. UGH!

On the bright side, the slim-fast is going very well. It's actually a life-saver this week, so busy I don't really have time for a "real meal". Although last night I did have a chicken breast that was left-over in my fridge. Strange, now I feel guilty for cheating by eating chicken. Better than ice cream, I guess. I've been peaking at the scale, and it is working. But I'm holding off on any announcements until the 5 days are up! I will say, it has put a jump in my motivation! And, as it turns out, I like the shakes!

Well, I should go find a salad! I'm sure I'm rambling, and I can't tell if this makes sense or not. I bet I'll be in bed early tonight!

  • Hi ladies,

Marti - yay for you getting some capris. I love mine - about 8 pairs! Double YAY for James saying they are too big! Tell Jhanai I would've sent a card, too, but then I would want to send them to every JL's kids and that would be a never-ending project! Glad you are spending some quality time with your grandpa.

Cristi - Bleachers wasn't one of my favorite books by John Grisham only because I'm not a football fan. There was more to it than football, of course, and the writing is, as usual, really great. I'm so proud of your determination to lose, Cristi! When I first began WW, I made some of the veggie soup that is only 1 point per serving. It consists of tomato juice, ff chicken broth, and "free" veggies of your choice, such as green beans, cabbage, etc. That stuff really helped me in the beginning to feel fuller. Just a thought.

RosieKate - as much as I love Wal-mart, I don't like some of their practices. They are being sued for unequal pay for women, among other things. Where I live, though, there is hardly any other choice. Sadly, the smaller businesses have gone by the wayside. In the meantime, I go to Walmart and buy everything from pool shock to chicken breasts, lol.

Angie - Just Say No to the cookies, lol! Actually, I had a talk with my family when I started doing WW again, and they agreed to do their part in helping me stay OP. Plus, they don't have much choice since the cabinets are filled with healthy stuff only. Just ask Katie - she rolls her eyes when I tell her to have some fruit, lol. They indulge when they go to town without me.... I see stuff on the grocery receipts that never made it into the house such as candy bars, etc., lol.

Jen - around here an on-call nurse is called "whenever" and it's part of the job. Maybe you could try for a regular position somewhere? Glad Slim Fast is working for you.

Well today I didn't go shopping as I thought I might, but stayed home and did piddly jobs instead. Like mending, cleaning up the area in the kitchen by the phone, sorting through my make-up drawer, brushing the dogs, etc.

Neal and I used to play Yahtzee almost every evening in the summer, but have switched to 500 rummy instead. Gives us something to do besides watch reruns, lol. So far I'm the top winner, but I see fresh determination in his eyes, lol.

    Toodles,
  • Hi
Just a second to write something, really need to get busy for the second shift.
I can't teach Rachel to drive anymore because of insurance. Her father and Les both said that until she is 15 and has a permit to legally drive ( even though it is in a parking lot???) it wouldn't be such a good idea.Bummer.....

First the coupons and now this........bummer........can't have any fun. lol

Yes,Angie........I have done that on the copy machine before! lol - jk......what DID yo do?? YOU are on the dark path with no return,,,,,,,,,that is ok, because Ben & Jerry's is at the end.

Good Luck on the "NO Tanner Baking"......he sounds sweet.

Jen- I did Slim Fast for the weight I lost before- wish you the best!! I like Atkins shakes now.......though the Strawberry SF was always good. Atkins just isn't as sweet and gives you more protein. I think it is 1.97 a can.

What does WW say about popcorn Jana?? Couldn't you have some at a movie? btw- when are you and Cristi going to meet??
    and, and, and........ain't I nosy....lol

Wal Mart in Oregon sucks.......there, maybe that makes more sense....lol. RosieKate is right we have to go clear over to SE to get to a WMart. Target is just as nice and cleaner and really doesn't seem as crowded.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to James, what a sweet man in what he said about your jeans Marti.

    Ok, best get.

Figured out what property I am interviewing for......4 different sites, all small.....2- 30 unit ones and 3 - 10 unit ones and 1-18 unit one.....should be a breeze.....lol.
    Anyway, cross fingers!!!

  • Just a quick check in -
Angie - We are watching this season of Last Comic Standing, but I haven't seen last night's - was just too wiped out so we taped it. I'll let you know what i think about that episode later. What did you think of all the controversy in the Vegas finals? I didn't think Dan Naturman was all that, but I also didn't think Ant was either....I think they just want a combustible mix of personalities in the house - otherwise we would just be watching people rehearse their acts all day, I guess.

A good friend of mine has been a stand-up comedian locally and now performs with a late night cabaret with a nasty name I can't print for the delicate sensibilities......she's just a funny gal and comedy takes alot of smarts and hard work. They make it look easy....

Jana - I share your same concerns about Walmart business practices. Here in OR, they were sued for requiring people to work off the clock and had to fork over alot of back pay. The people who were being required to do this were really vulnerable people who would be the least likely to kick up a fuss, but they did it anyway and won. The Big W, I notice, generally doesn't position itself in big cities, they choose subrurban and rural areas, probably because it is easier to push out the local competition. But, you know, what are you gonna do? If a person's only choice is Walmart, then it's off to Walmart we go! I'm glad that online shopping can increase people's choices somewhat. I definitely believe in voting with my dollars!

I took DD to the soda fountain today...and still didn't get anything - wahoo! I'm trying to keep the thought of my bad B&J trip in my head to turn me off of ice cream. If I can keep it out of system long enough, pretty soon I'm thinking I won't crave it..... fingers crossed

  • Hey Susan - you posted same time as me - just wanted to say hey and good luck on your interview.....

  • Hello girls--

    Quick individuals!

Cristi--I'm am VERY proud of you and just know that you'll do well this time!! I will cheer you on the whole way!! I absolutely LOVE your attitude.....share it with me so I can get my butt in gear!!

RosieKate--Refresh my memory..what's VBS? Weather took a drastic change didn't it? Was it raining in Portland? It was in Cottage Grove. Not even a peak of blue sky today!!

Angie--Cookies! What's up with the guys wanting cookies? James bought some yesterday. The BIG kind!! Had one...now, to stay away. I may take another and eat it in pieces just to get my fill.

Jen--Hurray for the Slim-Fast working for you!! I always say I want to get slimfast but James tells me that I don't need it...to go walk instead! Men!

Jana--I love these Capri's...ready to get another pair. These are Jeans...I want some other kind...maybe some Khaki's.....

Susan--I'm going to have to agree with the men on teaching your girl to drive at 13. It could create lots of problems if you were caught. Legal age to start teaching is 15. (ok...so I'm a party pooper too!)

Hello to Shanna, Kathy, Sue, Kayecee, Kat, Katie, and who else am I missing?! Well hello to all the missing Jaded ones!!

Went to grandpa's and the man had left when I got into the house!! He was out back with his truck and I saw him leave. Didn't even see that I was there. So I left a note and told him that I would stop by tomorrow. Busy man.

I made some Lasagna tonight. I had my share, now the rest will be for James. Pasta is my downfall and I really need to limit it. AND the darn cookies!!

Ok gals..I will talk with you all in the morning!

    Marti

Sue big hugs to you and your family. I hope that all goes well for you all. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Just popping in really quick to say hi to everyone. I will try to come back later and finish catching up on everything. I really do try to keep up to date everyday, and then run out of time before I can post.

Little guy is over his mumps and chicken pox and it is so much nicer to have a happy guy.

Ant will have to go,,,he annoys me.
Jen, ah man girl...my thoughts are,,,if you are not bleeding thou the ears, nose or mouth, don't wake me.

Went and saw Van Helsing at the cheap theatre,,,thank goodness I didnt' pay big bucks to see that,,,,on the 3FC rating its a half egg white. And thats only that high cause seeing Hugh Jackman without a shirt was ok.
We have had some icky weather...cold raining then nice and warm then more cold and rainy with storms...ahhh to live in Alberta if you don't like the weather all you have to do is wait 5 minutes.
Took Brandon driving,,,Im drinking wine from a bottle now.

Well I should get to bed early, tomorrow is going to be a long day.
    Susan break a leg tomorrow!
    Angie
  • Good morning ladies,

Susan - yep, your men are right! Busted once again, heh? LOL! On WW I can have anything I want to eat... within my points. But if I spend them on stuff like movie popcorn, I wouldn't have enough left over for a healthy meal later, and I already know how that feels from past bad experience, lol. Cristi and I had to postpone our trip.. but thanks for asking! Good luck with your interview today.

RosieKate - for me, the cravings really did lessen quite a bit. And if I crave something not-so-healthy, then I try to work in a small amount of it, if it is worth the points. You are doing super with staying OP! Btw, the Walmarts all over the nation were involved in the overtime suit. My heart tells me to shop elsewhere, but my budget says go to Wally World!

Marti - the thing is, if I had legs like you, I wouldn't bother with many capris in the summer heat. I'd wear shorts. But my thighs have gobs of what some people call cellulite but I call "hail damage" lol! Glad your grandpa is a mover and a shaker!

Sue - as the others said, we'll keep your Dad and all of you in our prayers. Have a safe trip to PA and back.

Kathy - hiya! Miss Congeniality has been on TV a lot lately, and it made me think of you. Glad the little guy is better!

Angie - your weather sounds like ours, from one extreme to the other. Next driving lesson, drink the wine first, lol.

Shanna - don't make me come after you, missy! I see you have posted on the other threads so you can just get yout buns in here, lol.

Hi to Cristi, LibraryKate and the others.

I'm taking Madison shopping with me today. The last time I took her, she talked me into 3 pairs of shoes, and an equal amount for her twin. In my defense, I have really cut waaaaaaay down on what I buy for all the grandkids. Been buying smaller clothes for myself instead, lol.

We're having Amish chicken noodle soup today... mmmmm.

    Be good,
  • Jana: my buns are too huge to fit over on this thread.
  • Morning ladies!!!

James got up and left for work this morning.....I struggled to get up but I did!!

Jana--I don't think drinking wine before the driving practice would be a good idea! But it could help!! As for shorts, not for me. I hate this glob that has formed in the last year. I have never had this but now I do. And I need to work on it. Which is why I try to do as much leg workout as possible. So I'll stick with Capri's!!

Angie--Smurf Blue?? You ARE a colorful woman!! I'm telling you, everytime I pass this house up in Eugene, (the Orange house with the purple door that I had mentioned before) I think of you!

Shanna--Your buns are NOT to big to pop in here!! So come in for a little bit and say hello!!

Going to go wake up some....

    BBL

    Marti
  • Just a quick Hi ladies

Sue~thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Shanna~good to see you checking in.

Kathy~the same, good to see you checking in, and to hear the little guy is better.

Jana~have a fun day shopping with Madison.

Marti~ I just know I am going to do it this time. I am glad to see that your grandpa is keeping busy.

Jen~hope you got your much needed sleep.

Had no clue about the case against Wal-Mart till I read the paper yesterday and saw it on the news. Still will shop there though, it's clean, the people are nice and friendly and you can't beat the prices. We have a local grocery store here, Dillons, which is same as Kroger/Ralphs but their prices are so ridiculously high I only go there to get one or two things because it is closer than Wal-Mart. I won't pay the high prices they charge, which they have to because when Wal-Mart opened they lost half their business. Of course there is Food 4 Less-wouldn't walk in the door of that store. Had Albertsons but they went under.

Did a little shopping of my own this morning. Finally went to Michael's and got the stuff to make a wreath for the front door. Think I willl get that done today. Also, ran over to Kohl's really quick to get a flag like banner/welcome sign. They were actually having some good sales but I was just there for that. anyway, I need to get out back before it gets too hot and put some weed and feed on the yard and some seed in some bare spots. DS put weed and feed, which by the way did get rid of the weeds and the grass grew like crazy. But he didn't overlap when doing it and we have lines of light green and dark green, looks kind of funny. Should have wrote something in the yard with it. Okay, so this was supposed to be a quickie. Have a wonderful day everyone!
  • Good Morning!!!

So very sorry about your father Sue....many , many warm thoughts to him and his family.

Just love my own dad soooooo much. Breaks my heart...he is becoming more feeble and at a loss what to do with his time. Just remember him as strong and doing anything.......anyway, hope all goes well

Shanna......sorry your buns are too big!!! Squeeze in sideways!! lol Don't you just love laying on the bed and puling up the zipper on your pants?? I always did that growing up. My finger would get bloody ......
    Anyway, cheerful ain't I??? lol

    Going through B & J withdrawals!!!!!!

My interview is over!!! YAY- I don't know how I did, soooooooo nervous My supervisor helped me along and detailed all the training I have done.He looked at me and said " I am helping you"........lol, so sweet. The other supervisor kept winking at me.......lol. I saw him yesterday and he had managed these complexes himself , very nice man. So, now I wait.
They thought by Monday or maybe even tomorrow........or maybe even today.....they have some others to interview.
The HR lady said " if you get the position you know you will have to move?".......

YES!!!! That is what I want......*sigh...still nervous, probably too much Starbucks???

Gaby was sick last night so I didn;t get that much sleep. She had thrown up and was running a fever. HORRIBLE to not be able to mother her and take care of her.....I guess I could take sick leave?? hate to do that also........just torn.
    She is better today though.....

Les and I talked last night. He was sick also........super goofy--- he was making me laugh so much. He said to call him when I got home and tell him how Gaby was doing. So , I did. He is so sweet......

    Going to get busy!!

    ttfn
Thanks for the warm thoughts on my interview!! Appreciate it......
