Vickie, what wonderful news! I'm so happy for you both. I hope that you both can relax now, and start enjoying the summer.

We have officially started our summer break here, and had a great day with the girls yesterday. Again, like last year, we have a kind of schedule for our days. I find it makes things go so much more smoothly. We do our chores, then can do the fun things. I 've added this year a time for reading/school work, and a 15 minute clean-up/decluttering of the house.

We're still recovering from that stomach/digestive bug that has plagued us. Dh came home from work early yesterday because of it, and I'm still not on top of my game. Oh well, at least it's keeping me out of the leftover birthday cake!

I think we're headed to the zoo today (just a little free one featuring farm animals), and we'll watch part of a movie on mammals. For school time, I think I'll have my 8 year old do some acrostic poems with animal names, the 6 year old can write/dictate a short story about her favorite animal, and the 3 (almost 4) year old, we can talk about what letter each animal's name starts with. See how there's a theme for the day? I just don't want them aimlessly on the computer or watching movies all summer.

Things are nuts here with me.Finding it hard to get control again.I gained 1.4 last week and almost have it rid of,just need to focus the next few days before weigh in.
My mother and step are re-newing their vows and having a small ceremony and reception nothing fancy and i volunterred to make the wedding cake,small for about 25 people.after doing some research I've realized I do not know how to make a wedding cake LOL so I signed up for a class and to find out it was canceled cause I was the only one who signed up for it lol.So I could spend the money and practice practice and practice.Then I'm like by the time im done I would have spent the money on a small wedding cake anyways so I might as well just buy them one anyways.not to mention i dont need several practice cakes in my house! cause it would be a shame to throw them away,anyways thats my thinking lol

I've just been reading because I'm really not doing core anymore. I've found that if I eat what's core and don't track, I don't get in enough calories (pts) for the day. I think it's because I'm not a big protein fan and I can't do dairy, so I fill up on veggies and fruits and I can't maintain that for more than a week or two. So I've gone back to flex, but am trying to eat mainly core foods.

Things have been pretty busy here for the last month just like everyone else, but they should settle down now. I hope.

Went to WW last night and I was pretty happy, I lost 2 lbs which is a huge loss for me, I'm usually happy with .5 - 1.

Sandra - I like the target idea, "ricky" will get it fixed eventually I'm sure.

Vicki - Whew, that must be a huge load off your mind. Hope the talk thurs. clears up any unanswered questions.

Frouf - Don't think of one slip as loosing control, just as a mistake. Last week I didn't journal on Wed (first day of my week), normally that would make me not journal all week, but this time I just started on Thursday, and because I felt so proud of myself it helped keep me on track the rest of the week. We can do this just one baby step at a time.....

Angela - Will you be my mommy??? Sounds like you have such a good time with your girls.

Kathy - well his leaving should be a little less tension in the house. Good luck with those long days, that always makes me over eat, 'cause I'm tired and don't choose wisely when I get home.

Patty - have fun buying flowers.

Rhonda - Sounds like you had a fun trip.

Tech- I find this too that I do not eat enough calories.I tried flex last week but went crazy with it.I now track my food on *********** and it tells me what my calorie intake and what not is.I actually love it and its so easy and not so anceint looking as fitday. Excellant job with the weightloss!

Wow Chicks! I wish I did not eat enough calories. Dinner is my downfall. I don't eat much throughout the day but LOVE a large dinner.

The sprinkler system is repaired for about $400. Next is the flower bed removal and sod installation for about $650. That'll be all the yard work I can afford this year on my retirement income.

Jim and I have some errands to run. I have cramps but gotta get things done. Oh well. At least the temptation to stress eat is over.

Donna, I LOVE your picture. It's great to see you back here. You don't have to leave just because your not doing strictly Core. In my opinion anyway.....

Kathy, I forgot to answer your question. Jim feared he was a having a reoccurence of the tongue cancer that he had removed in March 2006. Since he isn't easily scared.....it made me be scared out of my wits. Our great ENT gave him penicilin for 10 days and sent him for a CT scan after feeling Jim's neck and noting that one of the saliva glands or lymph nodes were enlarged. The tongue apparently looked ok. He had said he was just being conservative but since we'd heard that before from another Doctor, we were afraid to trust it. As you now know, everything turned out ok as long as he doesn't see anything weird when he looks at the films himself later today.

kathy, i'm going to give you some advice here that i think is very very important. join a weight watchers class and go to the meetings and stay for the meetings. don't just weigh in. curtis will be the first to tell you how important they are. get the support and accountability that will help you get to and stay at your desired weight.

okay, that advice was for me, too. i know i have to do the above to be successful.

vickie, i'm so glad jim's report was good. now you two can get on with living. ain't it great!!!

frouf and kathy, i don't want you girls to be too hard on yourselves. kathy, take a bath if you want. you're a grown woman and don't need to be reprimanded--even by yourself. frouf, just dust yourself off. you're a beautiful woman. and as your quote says, YOU WERE SHAPED TO BECOME A VERY SPECIAL AND UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL


frouf, how sad for ray. i used to have a cat that was family. she disappeared back in 1997. i haven't had a pet since. curtis is allergic. i just rub his head when i need to pet something.

patti, we are keeping the new dryer. so far i'm loving the results of yesterday's turmoil. first time in years i have had the dryer finished about the same time the next load finishes washing.

angela, you have fantastic ideas. the girls are lucky.

tiki, practice cakes wouldn't last long around our house. you're smart to just buy the cake.

donna, congratulations on losing 2 lbs. you keep posting here. we need your input. i went months not really doing core but kept posting anyway. we are all "family" now. please stay with us. i love your photo. you're a doll!

I have a confession. I've always struggled with lunch on Core. Lately, I've decided that when I have no Core LO's, I'll eat a Lean Cuisine spa meal (the spa meals have brown rice, ww pasta, etc) and count a point or two for whatever sauce is in there. I was eating too much at lunch anyway and this seemed like a good plan for me. I think it's working. I loved the butternut squash one that I had today. I still eat Core the rest of the day but allow myself to eat these for lunch when I have no other options.

So see Donna.....not all of us are pure Core.

Hi all. Went to WW today -- not good. I gained again. UGH! Not sure what I need to do differently. Need to do some soul searching. I'm glad I went, Sandra, You are right. Going and staying is key. I felt much more motivated about things than if I just weighed in. I'm continuing to use the on line tools. Heck they're free so I might as well. My leader suggested also measuring for a while just to see how big I'm making my portions.

I know I can do this, I did it successfully for 10 months. I need to get back to it -- I do need to exercise more. I used to plop Sarah in the stroller and go off for long, long walks. Now that she past the stoller phase I don't go any more. I need to find something else.

Kathy, sorry to hear about the flood. Judd should not reprimand you -- and don't reprimand yourself. It was an accident and its over. Now move on! Hope all is well with your kids. Time to focus on you now.

I was sorry to hear about Ray's dog. One of my nieces is losing her cat she's had for about 17 years. It's tough to lose those pets.

What a long day I had. I'm too tired to even write but I've read all the posts and think we are a lucky group to have one another to chat to. I did not stay OP today, but I did push aside the bread and walked a lot. Some days that all I can do!

Good Morning Chicks! I've awakened today to the great intention to have some wonderfully sunny days. My sprinkler system is repaired.....don't ask how much......and it is running as I type. Jim and I are in acceptable health and the treadmill is scheduled to be repaired on Saturday. The pool is covered with the solar cover (the water was only 69 degrees yesterday) and it is supposed to be 90 and sunny today. That should help warm up the pool a little.

The scale is up alarmingly high and my throat still has that horrible weird feeling in it. I may follow up with the ENT after Jim gets his all clear. The next step for me was to be a CT scan. I don't choose to focus on that today.

I'm also going for my hair appointment today at 12:30. My hair is long and feels sloppy so the cut and color is certainly going to make me feel better.

I think I'll surprise Sandra and go start a menu for today.
