Alice, I am really glad you brought up PMD again. I am going to dig out my old copy. I was thinking of it all day yesterday and trying to remember the details. I am holding my own w/ my diet plan with the exception of being very hungry at night. Last night I went to bed and fell asleep but woke up 3 hrs. later with the feeling there was no way I would be able to go back to sleep w/out eating something. I found the smallest bowl I own and had some cereal. I need to figure something else out though! I tried eating my last meal right before bedtime last night and that didn't do the trick. I feel like if I could conquer it one night then the next night would be easier.

Alice, you sound the tiniest bit homesick for NH. I suspect early fall up there is fabulous.

I have been getting all this cool computer equipment the last couple weeks. A film scanner, a highend printer, and a laptop. I am learning some new photography techniques which I will learn more about at my workshops. I have homework to do before I get there and I have computer stuff taking over the dining room. Next week I am changing to high speed internet and will have airports so I can use the laptop anywhere in the house. It is all kind of fun and I am just keeping my head above the new technology waters!

Back to the diet Alice - let's just keep in mind that we are shrinking our stomachs again and that the hunger we are experiencing will dissipate as we get a little further along in our efforts.

Hi ledom,

I thought of PMD a while back and I have no idea where my material is. I do know it got packed, or I think it got packed for the move. I'm embarrassed to say that there are still boxes we haven't unpacked yet, and we've been here almost a year. Anyhoo, I did a search in Prevention, but it was nowhere to be found. Then I did a search on 3fc for our old posts and found the particulars of the diet that you posted on each new thread. It's good to shake things up a bit, I think.

AHHHH, I really do miss NH. I like FL, but would go back in a heart beat. What is left of my family is still up north and I miss the connection. The problem is DH loves it down here. I'm hoping that when we head to our old stomping grounds in Sept. he'll discover he misses it as much as I do and want to move back. When we moved to FL everyone kept telling me how much I'd hate the summer. Honestly, I don't mind it, both of us have adapted to the climate very nicely. I could do without the daily thunderstorms though.

All your new computer equipment sounds great. You'll have a good time learning everything, especially your new photography techniques, which sounds like a lot of fun. DH bought me an iPac. I'm not good at learning things from directions, I'm a hands-on learner. I told him to figure it all out and show me how to run it. If we ever go to a wireless connection I can send and receive e mail on it.

Have you read Pamela Peeke's BFL for Women? I picked up a copy of Women's World Magazine and her diet and exercise program was their "diet of the week". I have come to the realization that I have to do some strength training. I am considering buying her book, just for that alone.

Enjoy your day!

On being homesick - I thought so. I hope all works out to your desires.

I did a quick survey of the computer/library room last night and came up with the copy of "Prevention" that came out with the same diet only called the Prevention Healing Diet and read through it. It inspired me to bring back beans and to eat more vegetables. I like vegetables, I don't know why I don't eat more of them. I am wondering if eating a lot of vegetables would help me with my nighttime hunger pains as well as getting the extra vitamins and fiber.

Today is day 6 of being back on my exercise plan. And I do feel so much better and can tell my muscle tone has made a slight improvement. It does happen very fast if you are consistent. I haven't weighed. I just don't want to see what I weigh. I have mixed feelings about it - I know if I start to feel substantially lighter I'll want to know it. On the other hand, the thought of trying the pants-o-meter measure has a lot of appeal to me at the moment.

Good morning ledom,

Thank you for your good wishes. Yes, I hope everything works out to my desires also

How is the PMDing coming along? My point counting is coming along nicely. I haven't worked out that much because I've been here there and everywhere during the mornings. I find that if I don't exercise in the morning, I don't do it at all. I think the pant-o-meter is the best way to chart your progress. What if you weighed yourself once a month or so? I know stepping on the scale can determine whether you have a good day or not.

We have been in a stormy pattern these past few days. We had a thunder storm come through the other day where the lightning was a little too close for comfort. It made me a little nervous to say the least. Lacee does not like the storms down here. I had to go out yesterday morning and I think we had a storm at the house while I was away. I noticed it had rained when I got home, then Lacee met me at the door panting and was kind of frantic. When I went into our bedroom, I knew. I walked into our closet, my shoes had been moved, the bathroom rug was in the bedroom, and the other rugs were rolled up. The poor little thing.

You'll be heading to Montana pretty soon. When actually will you be going and how long will you be staying? I've only seen photos of Montanta and what I've seen, it's beautiful country. I'm getting excited about our trip north.

Hope your day is a good one.

Smile Good morning

Hey Alice - Poor Lacee, it's terrible to be afraid and not have your momma to hold you!

I am leaving early Friday morning! Must begin some serious packing today. I will be taking a lot of stuff as I'll be gone almost 3 weeks and must take a lot of photo supplies as well. I got some wonderful news this weekend. An old friend who is just about my favorite person in the world is going to come out and meet me during the weekend break between the 2 workshops. He lives in Eugene, OR and I haven't seen him in over 10 years though we keep in touch by phone. This news has added considerable sparkle to the whole endeavor. I am truly excited to see Montana - I agree that it sounds beautiful.

I have been doing good too. I have kept up with my exercise plan. On the weighing, I know I have to. I plan to weigh when I get back from my trip - I just don't want to be affected by it before hand.

I am typing from my new laptop with highspeed wireless cable this a.m. It is amazing stuff! I will be taking my laptop along and surely will be able to find some kind of internet server while I am gone in order to keep up with you. Still have a couple bugs to work out but slowly and surely I'll get everything figured out. I am concerned over changing my e-mail - hope I don't miss too many messages.

Keep up the good work Alice!

Thanks Alice - you take care as well. When I get back it will be time for you to travel!
I will be mindful of my diet while I am gone. I have packed my yoga mat and book and a pilates book and bands which I haven't tried yet for some on the road strength training.

Hey Guys-I'm in Sheridan, WY and just getting into the mountains good. It's supposed to get down to 35F here tonight! Just a brief cool down, the locals are surpized too. I believe it was 100 in AR today. I am having a great time even though I am driving a LOT. I drove over 1000 miles yesterday. All the way to Denver. This a.m. I decided to check it out a little before heading on north since I drove so far yesterday. I found an REI and a Whole Foods Market - both nonexistent in AR. I had FUN shopping. This afternoon listening to the radio I tuned into the Billings, MT Blues Festival on Yellowstone Public Radio. I am listening to it now on my laptop which I LOVE!

Just wanted to check in and say hi - I will arrive at my destination tomorrow and don't know yet if I'll have internet there. This may be it for awhile if I don't.

Take care Alice and LaDean. Judi, would love it if you could check in.

A good Monday morning to you,

ledom, it sounds like you've got quite a lot of driving under your belt so far. Did it get down to 35° ? I was watching the Weather Channel Sun. night and it looks like it's going to be in the 60's where you're going to be. That will be such a change in temp. as to what you're used to. Glad that you checked in. We have a Whole Foods down here that we go to occasionally, as it's quite a distance away. I've never heard of REI. Is that like a Whole Foods? That's good you're able to take some side trips. You can see a lot of interesting things that way. Drive safely and hope to hear from you.

LaDean, counting WW points is good because you can eat a variety of food in moderation. A belated HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and your DH. Glad that it was a good one.

LaDean, yes, Lacee does have a hard time breathing when we walk, especially if it's overly hot, in which case I won't take her. I usually take her for a short walk around the block in the winter when it's much cooler and it isn't very long before she starts panting. Our former Vet did tell us not to take her for long walks because she's such a little dog and they have to walk a lot faster to keep up with us humans. So, when I do take her, we go at her pace. I think the reason they do have a hard time breathing is because their noses are pushed in. Although, Lacee's nose isn't as pushed in as most Boston's. Does Beau snore?
