Just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. On this last one, I have to say that I've never been into misteries but decided to give this one a chance considering all the publicity is has gotten this last few months. The book was extremely entertaining with well develop characters. Looking forward to reading the other two of the Millenium trilogy...

I'm starting the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it has been on my 'To Read List' for ages, and my Swedish friend has been badgering me about reading it for nearly that long. If you haven't seen the movie (the Swedish/Danish one, I know that there is an American remake coming out, but those are never any good) I thought it was fantastic. It is very intense, but seeing as you've read the book, it shouldn't be too shocking. But it definitely is not a movie for the faint of heart.
I'm about wrapping up Blood Oath: I think it's pretty cool, but YMMV depending on whether you like books about zombies (this is NOT your Twilight- or Undead and- type vampire story, and zombies also figure very strongly in the plot). I think before I read Play Dead I'll read something else to cleanse my palate: I have Absolute Power by David Baldacci, and I've ordered Wicked: A Tale of Two Schools by Jilly Cooper (no relation to the book about the Oz witches or its Broadway musical)
I am currently reading the Dexter series, and waiting for 'Sizzling Sixteen' from the Stephanie Plum series (by Janet Evanovich) to be available at the library!
Insatiable by Meg Cabot is my latest book! I have been waiting for it to come out (it came out last week, but it's been crazy busy for me lately), she is my favorite author!
I'm reading 'The Historian' by Elizabeth Kostova. Vamp lovers should give it a try. I have all the Sookie Stackhouse books but have only read book one. I thought I'd read them as I watched each seaon of True Blood but found they don't really match up.
Just finished reading a few books by James Herbert. I have 'The Magic Cottage". Great somewhat scary book! Another writer I want to recommend is Christopher Moore. I've read almost all of his books. They are quirky and fun. Vamp lovers try 'Blood Sucking Fiends' and 'Bite Me", and then there's the book about a reaper called 'A Dirty Job".
I go to my local library almost every week so I read a lot. I also love the book sales they have. I have shelves of books to read!

I was so excited to go see this! I had DH read the book and then we went a couple months ago. It's not rated. They did that because had they rated it, it would have gotten an NC17. We took my 15 year old son with us. He loved it, though, and I doubt he was too traumatized!
I also just finished Water For Elephants, by Sara Gruen. I saw online that it is being made into a movie with Robert Pattinson. Very good story.
so excited to hear that there making it into a movie! I really loved the book. Robert Pattinson sound good for the part too.
As for me, im reading what i think is book 8 or 9 of the Sookie Stackhouse books "Dead and Gone" just started it last night and of course its fabulous.. ! I also LOVE trueblood i couldn't hardly wait for the third season to finally start. GO TEAM ERIC ( just some trueblood spirit)
My bf is a big fan of Greg Iles so I have been reading some of his books. I just started Turning Angel by him last night. I also still reading The Lovely Bones via my new MP3/e book reader thingy I got for my birthday
I just finished reading Justin Cronin's The Passage. It got wonderful wonderful advance reviews and it should be everything I like - vampires! the end of the world! post apocalyptic societies!
I wanted to love it, but it had a lot of precious metaphysical BS which is a huge turn off for me. I don't know what it says about me, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief for the government doing secret experiments and unleashing a horde of vampires on the populace, I'm not willing to accept a miracle child who can speak to animals and is some kinda special savior (not to mention the mystical nun!). And it's the first book of a trilogy!
I'm reading Shakespeare's Macbeth. Trying to get a familiarity with Shakespeare. But I'm waiting for another book to come in the mail; how to make love like a porn star; a cautionary tale, an auto biography of Jenna Jameson.

I've read all the currently released books in the Dexter series, and can't wait for the new one to come out. I also love the TV series.
Just started "Through Black Spruce" which is quite interesting. Author is Joseph Boyden, a Canadian author although he and his wife live in Louisiana right now where he teaches literature at the University of New Orleans.
Does anyone else belong to a book club? Mine is great and gets me reading books I might never have noticed before. We have eight of us, both men and women, and the age range is 34 to 77.
The Jilly Cooper book didn't arrive yet so I started on Absolute Power

I've been reading Unbowed by Wangari Maathai. It's her autobiography- she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 for her work in environmentalism. She is one amazing woman and is so inspiring- if everyone could just be a little more like her, our world would be a better place. She's also a wonderful storyteller!
He loved it, though, and I doubt he was too traumatized!
