i agree with photochicks that you should bring in something to wrap with everyone.

and i agree with HWGA that you can buy her a book - not too expensive and actually can be a kind of revenge ... you know ....if you give her a book called "how to win a friend" .... lolz . that's so obvious what you mean ^^ so it's cool.

You all have such funny ideas . Thank you for giving me smiles. But personally I would not give someone I'll have to work with later a rude gift. You never know - you might need favors from her later. I'd go with a token gift, she can hardly expect more from someone she hardly knows.

On the other hand, I'd take action to prevent baby showers during business meetings in the future. Aren't meetings supposed to be just that - meetings? They have nothing to do with the personal lives of the employees. I don't know the structure of your workplace, but there must be a spot where you can bring this up. Make it clear that it has nothing to do with his event personally, but that meetings are long enough as it is, and that you'd prefer if personal stuff would be scheduled for other occasions.

I would still get her something...but only something REALLY cheap. Like I'd go to the dollar tree and get something for $1. I have 2 reasons for this. 1) Even though we all like to say that people don't care about stuff like this, they do. And I wouldn't want people I work with judgeing me, thinking I was being a B not getting anything for this woman. 2) $1 is cheap...which means the gift will be of cheap quality. Cheap quality is exactly what this woman diserves for treating you so badly.

So yeah, get her something so you don't look like the stuck up one (just to shove it in her face), but get something cheap to stick it to her anyway in passive agressive manner.

haha.

Did I mention everybody already knows I'm a biotch? I'm not hiding anything from these people, they work with me everyday and know how I think. I'm not worried about what they think anyways, I just think this lady doesn't deserve a gift from me, and that its tacky to have a shower at our meeting. I don't think I have a high road, at least not in this situation. I like the condom idea. And, I can get those for free from our pharm. I'd give her parenting advice, but this is her fifth kid...advice would be a little too late at this point.
I told my boss how tacky I thought this all was. Because I can't keep my mouth shut. I have to say something. Her excuse for it was "well, we want to show our off site staff that they are still a part of the company and we care about them." I lol'd at that, such bull. So, my boss is going to be out of town on christmas vacay and told me she'd give me the gift she bought for her and I can take it to the meeting and wrap it and we won't put a "from" label on them anyways, so whatever. I think I'm going to use the "over the hill" wrapping paper left over from our office managers 50th birthday.
