Evening gals...

Remember me?? Don't even know the last time I have been on the boards- I know it has been awhile!!

Cottage I don't envy that snow, although I know the girls would LOVE it! (BTW... Abigail is going to be 7 next week- can you believe it??) I logged on tonight to find the Fireside Soup recipe-always makes me think of you!

Ruth Busy as ever my friend! Your community is so blessed to have you.

Kim How is west Texas?? It has gotten quite cold here in the metroplex the last few days. I had to break down and turn the heat on last night. My last electricity bill was only $125, so I was enjoying the no ac/no heat month.

Zeff I hear you on living frugally. My DH and I have struggled greatly the last 3 years or so, financially speaking, which in turn affected our marriage greatly. We are finally in a better place, but I actually am grateful for the struggles we went through, especially with the economy the way it is. We use cash only, spend very little....if we don't have the money for it,we don't do it. That mentality was born of necessity the last few years, but it is a good one!

Me- It has been a rough 6 months or so here. Rob's dad passed away the day after Father's Day, so it has affected us all deeply. Although my fil wasn't a "holiday" guy, I think the upcoming season is going to be tough. Understandably, his dad's death has hit Rob very hard. We didn't spend as much time with his parents as we should have and there is a lot of guilt there. Those of you that remember the drama- his sister (after 8 years) is still living there and drinking heavily. UGH!

Anyhow, I miss you all terribly! I did a Body for Life challenge over the summer as a present to me for my 40th birthday. I was in the best shape of my adult life when I turned 40 and have fallen apart since! I did discover that working out- cardio and weight training is the key for me. Just need to get in all back together.

Much, much to be thankful for..... that is for sure......

Kiko I was just thinking of you today and wondering how you were doing! I was thinking how we never did manage to meet in real life and it was such a shame when we are so close. I'm glad to hear that your marriage is doing better. I've gained quite a bit of weight over the last year or so and stopped working out. I'm trying to get into using the Wii Fit since I don't feel right about leaving an 11 year old alone while I go to the gym. I think he is ALMOST old enough that Bally will let him work out. (edited: I checked their website and he has to be 13 to work out with me so that's another year and a half, bummer)

I was feeling lonely and just a bit sorry for myself so I dressed up and went out to Texas Roadhouse for a steak and sweet potato. I feel better now (although I should have stayed away from the rolls).

I've missed you. I bet your girls are so big now.

Hi Kiko! So nice to read you again!
Sorry to hear about your FIL.
No, I haven't been rocking anything for a while, coasting more like. But I plan to be rocking again in the near future.
I am in for the weekend, sounds like fun.
How are the girls and everything at home?

Welcome back, Kiko. I hope the Road of Life smooths out for you now.

Cold again but sunny today and then the snow will hit! Today's my last day for outside stuff so I'd better get right at it after Church. I also need to lug in some wood - I forget that hated winter job! Anybody want to lend me a DH?

Hope your Sunday is happy and relaxed. Next week will be a hectic one for the American chickies. Stay strong!

Good morning My coffee and I are having a quiet moment together before the day gets going

It finally happened, not a lot but it's there. Guess I have to stop pretending it won't happen!

I wish I could find someone nearby to snow shoe with, but no luck so far. I visited the local gym yesterday. I have money left in my flex account that needs to be used by year end. Turns out that with a note from my doctor I can use it for a gym membership. I'm thinking about it just for the winter and just for the classes. I'm already bored with the treadmill!

Kiko - welcome back! I'm with you on the working out. When I stick to a regular routine I do great, when I slide the weight creeps back.

rdw1 - Glad to hear the meds are helping with the back. I've never been to Vegas but DD is with you - she absolutely loves going there and will book a trip with friends whenever she can.

Zeff - I'm a confirmed bargain shopper too. Things were really tight growing up and I think I will always be frugal. I do stockpile a bit, especially now. You would love it here - there are 3 stores across the river in NH that get things from the local giant food warehouse. I find unbelievable bargains all the time. They supply the co-ops too so I often get natural & organic stuff. I have 2 old fashioned metal cabinets loaded with dried beans, rice, salsa, herbal tea, PB, nuts, flours, etc. Most of my clothes come from either thrift stores or Label Shopper too.

Heather

Sophie - my Mom just went back to knitting last year. You all are making me want to get back to it, at least for easy things like hats & slippers. Hmmm, maybe I should give it a try. Years ago I worked with beads a lot. I still have most of my supplies thinking I will eventually get back to it but so far it hasn't happened. Now that my eyes are older it just might not happen.

Kim - Good on DH for stepping up and taking care of the chores. It will help you avoid the temptation to do things you shouldn't while recovering.

Barb - Sometimes a treat is just what we need

Schmoodle - You've got me looking around at storage space now! Apparently squash stores really well at about 50 degrees, which is the temp under beds. Hmmmmm

Okay, time to think about breakfast now that I'm almost through my second cup of coffee. Yesterday was so decadent and yummy and not a weekday breakfast. I might have to do it again

Stay warm Chicks!

Kiko - Nice to meet you!

Ruth - DH would do anything you needed for some of your delicious sounding baked goods. He's easy like that. I'll poke some holes in a box and send him overnight.

Cyndi - I think I would like it anywhere that had a bit more of an open mind to healthy eating. I can't tell you how many times people have scoffed at us for getting grilled seafood at a restaurant instead of fried...Oy. It's ridiculous. Things weren't tight for my family growing up but as soon as I got to college they were ultra tight! I think everyone should experience it at least once.

Also, squash under beds? You are too funny. I've kept my squash that I'm using for Thanksgiving outside.

--
We're supposed to be going to a friend's house this afternoon for a little get together and an early dinner. Hopefully because it is early, it won't turn into the drunken debauchery that it usually does.

Our cell phone contract with Sprint is finally up. I ordered new phones from ATT last night. I can't wait to have phones that actually work!

KIKO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back!!! We've missed you! I just said a prayer for you the other day after wondering how you'd been! So nice to see you!

Ugh, it's Sunday and I have to work. It's Tommy and my anniversary, too. We went to dinner last night and the 2 glasses of wine I drank went straight to my head this morning. I'm such a light-weight now that I don't drink anymore. But, at least I don't have to work this weekend.

Tommy started painting the duplex yesterday and is going to finish today while Little Guy is at a Harvest thing with his grandma. Then, this week, we're just going to randomly haul stuff over there and try to figure out where it'll go. That way, we don't have as much to do on Friday.

Well, need to get a move on and get cleaned up. Have a great day girls!

Zeff - it's 12 outside - the squash would like it less than I do!

We are thinking of taking the afternoon off and going to see Madagascar 2 Utterly unproductive but fun.

Good morning all!!!

Well, I didn't get back yesterday because things got much more hectic than I thought they would. Driving home on the freeway from running errand we were hit (t-boned) by a car that came from the fast lane into our lane. Did a 180 on the freeway, was surrounded by angels, because we were not hit again, nor did I hit anyone else, and landed facing the wrong way on the stopped freeway. I managed to drive to the shoulder safely. But now my new car is really in bad shape. AND we can't even start doing things to make it better until tomorrow, which REALLY SUCKS considering all that I have to do today.
But I must count my blessings Rich and I are just fine and we have great insurance, and it will all be figured out. It's just really frustrating and sad.
Anyhow, I've got to get moving this morning.....there's too much to do to sit around a wallow in self-pity. Have a good rest of the weekend, ladies!
BLESSINGS!!!!

I never did end up working out yesterday so this morning I am in my workout clothes and will get a good workout in before I shower. I can't do that often so this way I'll get the day off to a good start.

I stayed up late on IM and the phone and just didn't get moving early today. Brian should be home around noon so I have plenty of time.

Good morning,

Hmac- Oh my goodness- I am so glad to hear that you came out of the accident with no injuries and yes I believe the angels do surround you to protect you.

Kiko- So glad to have you back- We missed you, glad to hear that you life is getting back together.

Barb- I am sure you will be glad to have Brian back today, have a good day.

Everyone else have a good day.

As for me- yesterday got the whole house cleaned up so good to go for Thanksgiving- still finishing up laundry (does it every get finished?). Today we are off to Church and then who knows.

Have a great day

hmac - I am so thankful that you are both okay. Cars can be replaced but not people. Hopefully you can get into a rental tomorrow.

pearl - I don't think laundry ever ends. Oh, I hear the dryer buzzing. Got to go.

Back from Church and think I may have been excommunicated! Disney went with me and actually pooped on the floor near the door! Shock and awe! She has never done that anywhere before and had to pick the Church. I need to put more money on the plate! I guess I missed the signal.

Once I recover from my shock, I'll get at the outside work.

Just read back - Heather! I am so glad your angels were with you and you are not hurt. Cars can be easily fixed, bodies can't!

By the way, if you are already on page 3, check out the "Too Many Pages" sticky.
