Wow thanks . . . those recipes sound good, really good and I'll definitely be giving them a try.
I my WiiFit . . . actually I like the Wii Sports that comes with the console too and I've also got Wii Play (some of which is fairly interactive, but not all). But WiiFit is really worth the extra $100. Actually gives you a pretty good workout and analyzes your form doing the routines and gives you pointers. Also weighs you and calculates your BMI. It's cute the first time you use it and you pick your Mii, as soon as it determines where you are in the fitness/fatness scale, it adds an appropriate number of pounds to your Mii -- not flattering, but realistic.
I definitely agree . . . always read the book before you see the movie. Makes for a much more enjoyable combination.
So glad that people finally showed up . . . . . . BTW, have you been reading my general information type posts? I'd like to hear your input wither in the original threads or in here.
Think this is going to be a reading day for me -- just got a couple of new GI/GL related books. Planning a little series of "My Favourite GI/GL Reading Materials" starting next week. None of us should ever stop learning new stuff -- well, IMO, anyway.
Other than that, our weather is cool and windy but sunny and since it is Friday the 13th, who could ask for anything more. Well, I could since both my weight and my blood sugar level went in the wrong (upward) direction this morning. This too will pass. Hopefully soon.
Hope everybody has a fun day on their horizon . . . See you all soon . . .
Not much to report. I weighed in this am and I am back to 170.5 so not to shabby considering all the crap i ate last weekend. This weekend is planned to be good.
I have my lil munchkins prek graduation this am so i had a lot of errend running to do for that..but now that all set so Im just taking a min to relax.
meowee-I agree you can never learn to much stuff. Do share the good info with us. I did read the articals you posted in the other sections. But i'll admit I often do not check the main bored I just like from my email when someone postes a new reply in here so if you do post something new could you just mention it here to look. Im sorry Im lazy..or better yet time pressed.
Peggy-I am so sorry i forogt to say hi to you in the other reply I wrote. My biggest appologies to you and anyone else I missed.
Good Evening to everyone!
The weekend is here and we will be making a overnight trip to TN tomorrow so I can go to church with my Dad. We won't go all the way to our cabin b/c it is 2 hours to the church from there. Another reason is there will be family there from out of state, (the 49 yr old father of a 15 and a 17 yr old boy, passed away yesterday after a six month illness) and they will stay a few days after the funeral. I feel for these young men who just lost their father and so close to Father's Day has to make it harder. Makes me thankful I still have my Dad.
I don't think I mentioned it here but our upstairs air went out while we were gone. I could not believe it was 113 degrees in my bedroom! All is ok now but it took almost 12 hours for it to get cool up there after the repair. I told Kenneth this ought to give some insight on how it is for our troops.
I have been checking my bgl during the night and I have had several at 103-115 so I guess not eating the bedtime snack was the problem. Any suggestions on what to eat when you are plain not hungry?
GYM~~Nice to hear you had a good B'day and I did not feel slighted at all by not being addressed directly, sometimes I goof like that too! It was just good seeing you here! Maybe Meowee will post the link here for you to the other board...I read anything I can find she has posted and I always learn something. I have to go get supper started! Have a nice weekend everyone!
Hi PEGGY . . . those 103 to 115 are pretty good readings, but depending on the timing you could go quite low in another two or three hours. Good snacks for bedtime would be just about anthing involving some carbs and some protein. About the easiest and least overwhelming when you are not hungry would be some LF/FF and NSA yogurt or even the good old standby glass of LF/FF milk (warm or otherwise ) Good balance between carbs and protein.
As usual, my life is crazy. My husband was laid off Monday morning, so we are back to watching every penny and waiting for him to find a job. My daughter who lives with us accepted a full time job as an office manager for a dentist this morning. The pay is excellent, and she is pretty excited. Her husband has a job at Home Depot and is doing well, so they will probably be moving into their own place soon. Yay!
I am doing fairly well with my SB and exercise...and the weight is creeping down.
Meowee~~I have both on hand so I will try it tonight! Thanks!
Ellen~~So good to hear from you! I am sorry to hear about the layoff, having been there and back many times through the years, I know how hard it is and STRESSFUL! I hope something opens up soon for him. My son started a new job 6 months ago and was doing so well then had 3 days out in one week due to hospital procedures and he was "let go" too. Had not missed another single day either. The news for your daughter was great though1
Morning and have a nice weekend to all.

So great to see you ELLEN . . . but sorry things are a bit stressful for you again . . . . . . If DD and SIL move out, will you still be looking after Kaeleb?
Hello, I know its late but had a busy day. Not much happening this evening. I cooked a roast in the crockpot and it was so good and tender. And theres plenty left for sandwiches. I think Monday evening I'll try to start walking out at the campground. I would have to start out slow but could work up to a nice walk. I'll see how I feel Monday evening.
Ellen- Its so good to see you posting. I'm sorry Tom is laid off. Good for your daughter getting a job. And I'm glad you're still on SB. I've been watching Etsy to see if you've put up any new pottery.
Peggy- Have a good trip. Enjoy your Dad.
Gym- Good going on your weight.
Meowee- Hope your blood sugar is better in the morning. Glad you're reading lots of good stuff so you can teach us.....
Good Afternoon . . . . . . and, yes, I almost typed 'morning'.
Cool and raining for us today, but at least the wind has calmed down a lot. Decided I'd do a little 5K on the gazelle today -- so far, one mile down and 2 (and a little bit) to go. Hope some of the rest of you get to be outside in comfy tempertures and lots of sunshine.
BTW -- I do recommend the Gazelle for anyone with arthritic knees like mine. Not only no impact (like you'd have with a treadmill) but also no knee-bending (like you get with an eliptical).
Learned my lesson about that big bag of precut sweet potatoes last night -- started finding a couple that were getting a bit yucky so I picked through them all and then boiled up and mashed all the good ones and put them into the fridge. Think I'll try that recipe with the onions that's done in the frying pan tonight. From now on I'll buy real potatoes and do my own cutting up thank you. Must have thrown out about 1/4 of the original 3 pounds that were in the bag.
Hello and happy Sat. all... Just had lunch which was a wonderful roast sand. on pumpernickle bread with a V8 juice. Yum..... I've been thinking about how to change things in my life to be more healthy. I've let my eating and no exercise get out of control. I'm hopeing for a better week.
Meowee- Darn I've been wanting to find frozen sweet potato fries. That doesn't sound to promiseing. I have a treadmill so no gazelle for me. I was lucky my niece gave me a beautiful one. If I'd only use it.
I couldn't sleep so I just got up. I'll be a grump all day today I'm sure!
Nothing new around here.....stil HOT, HUMID and NOT ENOUGH RAIN!!!!
Wanted to give y'all the movie picks for the weekend:
THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL
THE AIR THAT I BREATHE
THE WALKER
THE BUCKET LIST
I've got some straightening up to do today, and always some laundry. I'll be busy (hopefully).
Went to the grocery yesterday....I'm going to slow cook some pork ribs and turnips along with a big pot of fresh kale. Monday, I'm grilling up some chicken for my lunch this coming week.
Good morning all. This is going to be a very short post, as my daughter needs me 24/7 since the surgery on Wed. My surgery went well and have had almost no pain. I know somebody up there is watching over me because there is no way I could have watched my daughter and had pain myself. Her doctor repaired her ACL and one meniscus tear, the other tear will heal on its own. She will most likely miss her graduation this Wed. Hope all is well with everyone. I haven't had time to get on the scale but I have been on plan pretty much, so I'm sure I haven't gained any weight. Hopefully I've lost a pound or 2.
Talk to you when things quiet down a bit.
Chris
Good Morning . . . and Happy Father's Day, too . . .
Our official forecast calls for mostly sunny, but you definitely cannot tell by looking. Guess our rain yesterday was a little too localized. Unfortunate, because today it's difficult to even guess at the weather by looking outside. There is a very large out-of-control brush fire raging just this side of Halifax (about two hours from here, luckily) and the smoke is definitely blowing this way. About 5000 people have been evacuated and so far there is only property damage but they just cannot seem to get control of the fire. Think I'll be sticking to home again today . . . not a good day to be out and about.
Hope everybody else has a great day on the go . . . keep things moving and shaking just as much as you can . . .
Morning all. Happy Father's Day to all you Father's out there. We're going out of town to Lowe's today and to mexican food. Thats what Steve wants to do. Yesterday was pretty good eating for dinner I had a pork steak and and a baked sweet potato on the fire. Man is that so good. It just melts in your mouth. We sat out by the firepit to for awhile. So it was a great evening.
Bob- Maybe you'll need to take a little nap today. You know I've never cooked or eaten kale. I would love to know what it tastes like. Your dinner sounds so yummy. I love the idea of grilling chicken breasts for the week.
Chris- I hope you and your daughter heal fast. You've got your work cut out for you. Take it easy.
Meowee- Good thing that fire is a little ways from you. Stay safe. Guess its going to be sunny and hot here.
