    B(2) SB1 Challenge- Day 7
C(3) The Firm Challenge- Day 7

RED you are congratulations on completing both of your challenges!
  • Hello Hello! I was down in LA for 4 days, so I haven't posted. I thought I could swing the challenge if I used my pause days, but we didn't get back until midnight last night. I had been planning on stepping when we got home, but no way. So back to day 1 for me. I also missed friday weigh in, but it looks like no change.
It's nice to hear your white cat story, Red. It is funny, because cats usually find me, but now I am faced with having to go out and to find the cat!! I'm sure there will be plenty at the pound I'd like to clean up the house a bit more and then bring home a kitty by the end of the week. Congrats on the successful challenge!!!

I'm thinking about getting a new exercise video...any suggestions out there?
  • OK. I am on day 4 of no unhealthy junk food for work. I did have some candy yesterday and today, but only bought single serving sizes each time. so, at this point I will still consider that a positive. I haven't given in to binges, which is also good. will be starting a second challenge, of no caffeine, on Tuesday.

I am still feeling really out of sorts. I am very impatient and getting ANGRY at everything. I don't know why. I really, really have to get over that.

Well, off to clean, and do the yoga tape I didn't get to this morning. Take care all.
  • a test of nerves, and more...
Good morning, all. Thank you for the congratulations! The cat is driving me nuts as I have so much to do and she keeps crying. I can't let her out and unless she's free to roam around she won't shut up. This is really not helping things, but oh well, that's all part of it....at least it means she's feeling a whole lot better.

Apple -- Thank you and glad to see you back. I'm glad you are going out to rescue a new cat. There will be more than enough cats at the pound for you! Too bad about the challenge but also glad to see you're right back IN STEP!!

stage -- Thank you! You're moving right along, aren't you. One whole week down on all three challenges! Impressive!

carla -- I hear you on the snapping out of the blues. It's not so much the blues though, really. It's just being in dire, dire straits with no work coming in. The not wanting to do the work I have is because it's a drop in the bucket and that is what is killing me, knowing that. Still, it would help to get it done. It's hard with a cat crying constantly though...you don't maybe know what it is to live in one tiny room. But, I will try to rally my by-no-means shabby resources of inner strength and ride that damn horse! Oh, and sorry, no goose down pillows around here...how about the traditional Japanese chunk of wood to put behind your neck as you lie there on your back? No? It'll grow on you. And you know, I wouldn't mind a "horde of amply proportioned chicks from around the world on my doorstep." It gets sooo boring here with all the tiny people. Even the chubby ones are tiny and don't really look chubby. I mean, I'm small, but I'm tired of being the biggest among them. I'm just tired of seeing the same old thing ALL the time!

jolly -- Good going on the no junk food at work Day 4! I take it the candy was NOT at work, right? Yeah, well, the anger is something we all deal with at times. Do lots of leg stretches, especially for the hamstrings when you're doing your yoga. Apparently, this is where anger is retained in the body.. And a word from the knowing....if you're going to cut back on caffeine, DON'T go cold turkey. You will be in some state and if you're think you're angry now you will be tearing down the walls and then crying in a heap all at once if you go off the stuff cold...that is, if you've been a BIG consumer of it. Cut back gradually. If you've been getting a ton of caffeine, your body is dependent on it and it will be a major shock to the system. It totally changes your hormonal makeup since it directly affects one of the biggest hormone producers in the body, the adrenal glands. Be careful.

    curly -- Thanks!

Shad -- Thanks to you too! I'm a "ripper," am I? Cool! Congrats on getting to Day 6!

Okay, CBETA, chai, Sushi, marble, Leisam, Zoe, lael, Silly, others, that's as far as I go. This takes so much time and I don't have it! You all keep up your good work!
  • day 12....

    30 minutes on the gazelle
and a 5 mile walk at 5:00 am (why am i awake at 5 am on a sunday?)
  • You tell me, curly. Why are you awake? I'd say it was to do your challenge and savor that delectable taste of accomplishment!
  • ummm the walking isnt even my challenge... lol
  • Completed Day 6 for abs & thighs exercises and Day 11 for no sweets & ten min on stationary bike yesterday (Jan 9th).

How come it's only Day 6 and Day 11...? I feel like I've been doing those for months!!!

  • Day 10 - water challenge
    Day 8 - no wine/chocolate
    Day 8* - exercise

Today's exercise goes in my record book with an asterisk: I decided to go skating on the canal near my house; the ice was supposed to be good; in fact it was full of holes and bumps and cracks, so my total skate time was only 10 minutes. Since it felt like a lot longer, I'm counting it. (I haven't done much skating in the last three years, too busy looking for my lost mojo. Now I'm all slow and unsteady like a beginner, skated along pathetically for about 5 minutes to where the surface got even worse, turned around and skated back to the closest stairs to get off the canal. It was exhausting, but I only fell once, no damage done.) I hope the weather changes - we need cold and no sleet or snow so the ice will get nice and hard and the crews can fix up the surface. They actually go out there at night, make holes in the ice with an auger, and pump up water that they spray on the ice to make it smooth and perfect.

Curly, I think it must be the overachiever in you that wants to get up before dawn and walk a marathon in the cold and dark. Show-off!

Red! How's about a cellphone picture of your new kitten? Maybe with a patch over the bad eye if she's shy about how it looks, or showing only her perfect profile? Maybe if we run out of things to talk about (not in this lifetime, I suspect) we can have a "name Red's new cat" contest?

Apple, what a shame you're not living down the street from Red, as her little foster cat might be just what you're looking for... but as she says, the shelter will be full of deserving felines. The hard part will be choosing just one. Good luck finding a perfect match.
  • I like to take this challenge too. Ive been a member for 3 days and got alot of great advice. My 21 day challenge are no junk food and sweets and no resturants. I like to tell everybody good look.
  • Day of the DIY disasters
Day 7 is done. Food was pretty good. 4 bottles of water were down before 3pm. I do wish water tasted like wine! Don't get me wrong I like water, but hey a bit of flavour never hurt anyone.

    Arrrrrrrrghhhh ............

I started out okay by getting out there and sheeting up the furniture and fittings in the kitchen, dining room and lounge (in my wee house they are almost all one room) and getting all the stuff ready, plugged in and set up. Where's the sanding discs? Hunt high, hunt low, can't find 'em. Get in the car and go buy some more.

Get back put the disc on the sander, begin to sand. Disc flies off sander. Get down the ladder, put it back on, get up the ladder and begin to sand. Not long after the disc flies off the sander. Get down the ladder, get new disc, put it on, get back up the ladder, turn on the sander, sand approximately 2 minutes and the disc flies off the sander. Hmmmm, grrrrr, hmmm. Get in car, go to Hardware Heaven look for new sanding pad. Nope, says the bloke, don't stock 'em - yer might try Blackwoods. Where are they? Dunno mate, ask at the counter, they'll be able to tell ya. Ask at the counter, nobody knows and no-one can find a phone book. Come home, look up the white pages and then have a brilliant idea - look at deWalts website. Well it is easy if you spell it right and don't put a space between the words. Nearest deWalts store is in Hamilton out by the airport. 40 minutes drive down the tollway. idea, ring the contact number on the website. Hello, I'm looking for a sanding pad for a deWalt DW4162-au 115mm but I live way down on the southside, can you tell me who would stock them down here. They don't come in 115 luv! Yes they do, I'm looking at one. No they don't! Don't wish to be rude but this one is a 115. No it is not. Okay, I'll tell it it has a gender problem when I get off the phone, do you know where I can get one? Try Glenfords or Blackwoods. Okay, thanks.

Ring Blackwoods, they don't have one, but they will try to get one for me. Okay. Ring Glenford, Slacks Creek branch don't have one, but there is one at Archerfield. That'll do, thanks. Get in the car go up to Archerfield, get the pad - $36.00 thanks.

Come home, take the old pad off, fit the new pad. Fit the sanding disc - now smaller than the pad because the 115mm doesn't exist right? Get up the ladder and start the sander. Sanding disc flies off the pad after a few minutes. #$%^&%%$#$##%%#$
Fit the sanding disc again, this time putting it a bit off centre and ensuring it fits on at least one edge, get up the ladder and try again.

Yippee - it works. It works. IT WORKS. An hour later, the sander stops. It just stops! It won't go. I think it has burnt itself out. My dear little sander is dead and we have been through so much together. I'm in mourning. Guess tomorrows little jaunt is to go get ANOTHER sander! I still have the mouse sander but it is not big enough to do this job. I didn't try it. I swept up, cleaned up, had a shower, got the cat's dinner and then had mine.

I don't think it is my day.
  • unchallenged...
Hello all. I am home after a hellish day. I was a super ***** at work this morning but I had a ton of reasons and guys talking about my "mood" like I'm just moody ticks me even more.... It's never, "heh, what's wrong. Is there anything I can do to help?" No, it's just, "in a bad mood today, huh?" arrgggh. Sound like Shad here. Amidst all the hassles going searching for places to borrow money from there was the worrying about the cat. Hoping the place hadn't burned down because I left the heater on for her. She was fine. Now on my lap. She just wants to be held. I'd take a picture of her but don't have a cell phone with a camera or a digital camera. I'll get something soon. The hair around the left eye is all gone as she was scratching at it I guess. So, even though the swelling is down it doesn't look nice and when she opens the eye it is white with a yellow film on it that the vet says will fall off. The white I suppose will stay but I don't know how much the eyeball will shrink...ok, sorry for the detail those who don't want to hear it....

Well, I'm still challenge-less..sound like carla used to now...challenge-less..unchallenged... but very challenged!

Shad -- What a story! You poor thing. I am sorry for your sander. Hope you can get a new one soon. But, heh, look at that challenge. A whole week down!

wholelotmomma -- A whole lot of momma! Too funny!! Great name. Sounds like you have a great challenge though quite a hard one. No junk! No sweets! No restaurants! Wow. Are those three separate challenges? Levels? Read back over this thread, momma and see how people had challenges with multiple factors. Most people these days split them up into separate challenges so if they screw up on one part they don't have to take a pause day or start over. Good luck!

carla -- You are doing so well with your challenges. No wine and chocolate in 8 days? Oh, right, I was just going to say..wasn't there a party..pause day, right? Hmm. Good thing there were no invites out for beers tonight. Poor little white cat would have been so lonely. I was going to try to get two guys to each buy me a beer, but then decided, what the heck, the beer-drinking has GOT to stop. All those calories, eh? ...Little white one washing up. She's very soft, not like my other cats. Her hair is short but the vet thought she may have some Persian in her. She's looking much cleaner already though there's some gunk in her tail, like tar or something and there's a scab on her face and like I said, the hair is all gone around her left eye, the bad one. Also, the fur is gone on part of her left paw and there are some old holes in it. Looks like she was bit or hooked. Probably the same time as the eye got it. There are a lot of cats where she was and they have to fight for food. She would have been no match, but she's push, probably why she survive but got what she did. It's no wonder. I let her out of the cage and she goes running up to my cats. The old guy, Shachi, gave her a whack before I could get to her. Mu, his sister, runs off hissing at anything. That's what I'm so afraid of, her getting the one good eye injured. Nozomi, the younger one, has been good. She's the cool one I posted a picture of. They would make a good pair. All black and all white, both with long tails. Nozomi I found starving in a parklet near here. She was an affectionate thing too but never wants to be held, just wants to be by my side and sleeping in the crook of my arm all the time. As for a name, I have ample ideas. I am just putting off naming her because that means keeping her and really don't see how I can. We'll see. Now, Nozomi just jumped down off the computer and walked right past white one on my lap and didn't say a thing. White one just mewed a bit....keeping you updated.

I'm feeling better tonight. A good shouting at the coworkers (which is what I did this morning) also feels good, then bad, then okay...in any case, it's better than sitting around crying or blue...speaking of which, so, did you find your mojo out there on the ice today? If you find it, can you look for mine too? Gosh, I would be scared to skate on a canal or lake. That's cool that they do that to fix the ice though.

chai -- Thanks! And great going on the challenge! You're rockin'!!

stage -- Gosh, you too, eh? Don't think it's PMS with me, then I don't have any immediate reasons, just everything ticks me bad..today I had reasons but I was just not giving people the quiet front. So, were you able to notch another day on your challenges despite "hanging out in your room?" or did you come out for a bit?

Sushi -- Good going. I know how you feel. Some of my challenges crept by so slowly I thought the clock had stopped. I think it depends on the type. When you're doing something that you have to keep vigilant all day about, it makes things go slowly. Don't think about them too much...just enough to not forget them.

curly -- ok, ok, curly, so don't keep us in suspense!! Just why WERE you up at 5 a.m. on a Sunday?
  • im not sure myself... lol
