POP! Woohoo!!

Ok so maybe I wasn't POP all weekend, but I weighed in officially at 137 today, which is a lot better than the 139-140 I'd been bouncing back up to on Mondays. I also learned something: namely, I should have joined the no Halloween candy thread bc man oh man I cannot control myself around fun-size butterfingers. I thought I could, but I can't, so I will be staying away from the Halloween candy from now on. I didn't track my calories bc I was at my bf's and he was cooking, and there's just too much margin for error, but I think I canceled out most of the damage by walking a lot on Saturday and going on a 4hr hike on Sunday (irisand yoyo-it was great, thanks!).

I need to clean up my diet. While I am managing to stay around 1500 calories, a lot of those calories are junk, and I need to get the good stuff back into my fridge/pantry. That is the challenge for this week. I started tonight by treating myself to sushi (sans sauce or tempura flakes or any of the insidious stuff) with lots of fish and veggies. Tomorrow I pledge to eat a salad.

Thanks for the pep talk midwife!

!!!!!!!! POP!!!!!!!!!!

I was POP this weekend, and thanks to that and TOM having passed, I am nudging the ticker down a pound! Woohoo!

Sadly, I don't seem to be making any progress on my waist/hip ratio. My eating and exercise are pretty good. Unfortunately, I tend to wake after 5 hours of sleep (often less) and can't get back to sleep. I'm trying valerian now, but so far it doesn't seem to be helping.

Let's get/stay POP everyone!!!

OKAY....my hands are in the middle. POP!

Oh boy, I just can't seem to get it together. I haven't had a POP since "D-DAY" (the sugar buster binge). The scale was up a few yesterday morning and it didn't stop me from baking cookies. Today the extra cookies are going over to our neighbors. They are big time farmers with 1000's of acres to harvest yet and Momma farmer always welcomes food for the men. (Hey, at least they are "healthy" cookies, Pumpkin, oats, raisins and pecans ).

So today I have made a vow. NO treats, NO cheats, No slips, NO slides, NO NOTHING except POP until Halloween night. I need 10 days of POP to get me over the sugar thing. I have a ton of work to do outside, so over the course of the next 10 days, every garden, (flower & Veggie) will be winterize, and tilled, the lawn will be mowed for it's last time, leaves will be raked, and the chicken house will be scraped and painted. THIS IS MY SOLOMN VOW. So, if you don't hear from me for awhile it's because I'm working my fingers to the bone and going though sugar detox.

ETA: You know it's really bad when you hope you get the stomach flu going around so you can't stand the sight or smell of food for 24 hours! (Okay, I admit, I'm demented!)

POP!!!

Accountability for Monday:
Snacks: no, I ended up having some toast after dinner since I was still hungry.
Workouts: Check, did a run.
HIIT: Check.
Calories: would have been on track if I hadn't had the toast, but the toast bumped me up to 1550.

Lori - you can do it! No cheating!

Yoyo, I hope something helps with the sleep! Do you drink caffeine? I find that if I have caffeine after noon I can't sleep well. I posted about it on the chat thread already but I haven't been sleeping well lately either because my dog keeps waking me up in the middle of the night, sometimes multiple times during the night!

Forest - so far I'm doing okay with my pledge to only eat halloween candy on halloween night. I'm planning Halloween night to be a major cheat meal splurge since we're having a party with our cooking club. The trick is going to be avoiding the candy *after* Halloween.

Megan - glad you had a good weekend with the BF! Isn't it nice to sometimes have a weekend with nothing to do?

My DH is the best. He packed my lunch for me this morning, and in addition to the tupperware with some rice and beef tagine and my apples, he stuck in a note that said "100g rice, 184g tagine." Now I can calculate how many calories are in my lunch! What a sweetie.

OK, I've got some bragging rights here. Just got back from 10 days' vacation in the San Francisco Bay Area. Did lots of sightseeing, day trips, an overnight to Mendocino. I did not have a scale, no access to a gym. I did not count a single calorie. I ate filet mignon, duck, Mexican food, ice cream, etc. etc. We did a lot of walking and that was about it. HOWEVER, I remained mindful of what I was doing.

The outcome: I did not gain anything. I am the same weight as when I left, possibly even down slightly. In fact, tomorrow the scale may be down more since I'm pretty bloated from the long flights yesterday.

Did I gorge on stupid candy? No.
Did I eat until I couldn't move? No.
Did I allow myself to get overly hungry and then use it as an excuse? No.
Did I tell myself it was OK to eat mindlessly? No.
Did I listen to that "Oh, what the heck" voice? No.
Did I feel guilty because of what I ate? No.

Did I enjoy everything I ate? YES.
Did I savor every bite? YES.
Did I keep in mind that some foods are better for me to eat than others? YES.
Did I remain aware of my choices at all times? YES.

OK, that's my story for today.

Jay

Jay you are my hero! I hope that some day I will be able to view my life in a way other than feast or famine. My all or none mentality has got to go! Welcome home and way to go!

Me too, me too! The sugar/carb thing can throw me for a terrible loop, which is why it is actually easier for me to avoid those things completely than to try to have "just a little". I've sworn off all of that stuff since Labor Day, until I reach my goal, or until Thanksgiving day, whichever comes first. We have a fancy dinner-out buffet "thing" on Thanksgiving Day with the in-laws, and I doubt I can stay totally on plan for that. But, hopefully I'll reach goal by then and go back to maintenance-mode!

I've had this thought pass through my mind on occasion...

Jessica, that's so sweet that your DH labeled your lunch!

So I am somehow, magically... 130.5 lbs!!!? Not sure how but
