  • Quote: I did W3D1 today and oh my god... I just can't even fathom moving on from this week! It was so hard. I did get through all the jogging sessions, but I was not feeling well when I got home. Maybe it's just that it was 85 degrees. I'll try W3D2 later on in the evening when the sun is going down. I was really upset to see that my pace and distance were significantly reduced on this run.
Gulp - I am starting this today. I should be prepared for some pain I guess Glad you made it though, give me some hope!
  • Hello all! I had a nice 4k run today! Finished it in 37 minutes and i feel good and ready to start my day now. Its useless to say that i am amazed at how my body is capable to do that after only 6 weeks of training!
    Today was w7d1 btw
  • Good job basementcat!

    Silverfire: How did W3D1 go?
  • Holy Beejeebus! I made it.... Barely! I will admit that I had to quit the cool down walk a couple minutes early as... um... apparently jogging really gets my plumbing moving!
  • Silverfire: LOL! And good job!

I just finished W8D1 and I really wanted to give up halfway through! But I'm so glad I stuck with it! It looks like my total for the whole workout was 4.96 km! That includes warmup and cool down so it was 38 minutes total. Since my goal for the 5K is to run it under 40 minutes, I'm very happy!
  • Hi everyone!! Love to read all the updates from my fellow runners!

I switched over to Couch to 10k as I like having a program and schedule to follow since I'm done with the c25k.

    Last week I did c25k Week 9 for 3 days so it's running 30 minutes and I did 3.8mph.

This week I started the 10k and did Week 8 which is running 28 minutes. I figured I'd try to up my speed so I did 4.2mph for the 28 minutes. OMG I thought I was going to die. It felt like I went from low speed running to high speed running! I thought my legs were going to be like a cartoon character and just start spinning full circle LOL!!!

I think I might go back to 3.8mph as I'm more comfortable with that but at least the time and distance will improve over the next coming weeks.

Phew, so glad today is done. But I have to get back on schedule so I'm running tomorrow too! Better get a good night's sleep tonight!
  • Just finished W3D1 this morning. It wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be! I was looking ahead to W5D3 and running 20 minutes?? Jumping from running 8 minutes to 20 minutes?? I couldn't breathe, haha. This is crazy!
  • Hey guys just did W3D2 and I'm feeling GREAT this time! I waited until the sun was setting to go out so it was a bit cooler - scratch that - less hot outside. The second 3 mins kills me every time though. I had my best pace but I slowed down significantly on the last two jogs. Ah well. I'll get there. I don't know if I would've been able to keep this up without this forum!
  • I put w5d1 in the books tonight. It was tougher than I expected, but not horrible by any means. I'm jealous of all of you who are on later weeks and kicking out these amazingly long-sounding runs, but I know I'll get there!
  • Today was my first run that I stopped and had to leave my treadmill behind. I ran yesterday to make up my Monday run so to get back on schedule I ran today too. I only made it 26 minutes of 38 (W8D2 of Couch to 10K). I was so hot, sore from yesterday, and just didn't feel like myself. I only had 7 minutes left to run and the 5 minute cool down but I physically couldn't do it.

I considered going back to finish it now but I don't think that will matter. I think I'll try again tomorrow and see where I get.

    Boo. I'm so bummed.

Hope you are all doing well.
  • Hi all - I feel like I've been MIA. This weekend we went camping and I took a mini break from exercise and counting calories. And it couldn't have come at a better time. I've been needing a bit of a reboot, because the scale has been getting me down and I've been struggling to make a shift from a weight loss to a training mentality, which I desperately need.

So, this week I am starting down that road and I will begin obstaining from all weight loss challenges. In fact, I'm just going to train for my Triathlon at the end of July and not weigh in until after that at the earliest (GASP!) Here's hoping I can resist the temptation.

SO...back to the subject matter of the thread, haha. Yesterday I finished the C252 W3D3. Today I will be starting W4. Nervous and excited at the same time. Yesterday I ran outside for the first time, and it was definitely different. Good because there was a lot of scenery, bad because I always seemed to be going up hill when I was running. But I made it! And that is the important thing.

Everybody keep it up! Haven't gotten to read everyone's posts, but I must say elvislover...you may be bummed, and I can understand. But you definitely sound like all these runners I'm reading about in my books, where they push push push, and then have to learn to listen to their body to rest sometimes and maybe not go full capacity. I mean that as a compliment because they are so inspirational and so are you! Keep it up
  • Today was a non-running day but I wanted to do something so I tried the Nike training club app. Omg! Have any of you ever tried it? I tried one of the "toning" 30 minutes workout and it was so hard! I was sweating bullets after just a few minutes! I really recommend it if you want to add more exercise into your life!
  • Great job fellow runners (haha! yup we're runners)!

elvislover, no worries. Suck it up and try again in a couple of days. Just like 100mother said, no shame in it!

I did W5D2 today and it felt pretty good. I didn't stop on either run sessions. I'm really freaking about Friday's run though. I just don't know if I can run for 20 minutes! Imma try it though!

    Keep on moving friends!
  • Thanks ladies. I was just so disappointed. But I was too out of sorts to keep going so I thought the safest thing to do was stop. I have been running the 30 minutes straight for a few weeks now so I know I can do it.

    There is always tomorrow.

Angelic: Are you freakin' crazy LOL?! That sounds so hard!!

Mamabear: You can do it, I just know it!! It actually wasn't as bad the first time as I thought it was going to be. And I can't wait to read about your success!!

Thank you 100mother, I can't believe how much you do!! I feel like a slacker when I read your posts! Glad you had a nice weekend!
  • So, I was feeling kind of yucky about my run yesterday. Man it HURT! I was kind of bummed by how slow I was going and how much it hurt, even though I powered through I felt like maybe I wouldn't be able to do more.

And then, I was just replying to another post about what exercise I did...and it HIT me.

Yesterday, before my C25K I did a P90 workout and I did a pretty hard spin session for 30 minutes....and then I did and completed C25K!!!

No wonder I hurt so bad! Haha, I seriously feel like a ditz right now that I didn't realize that. AND, it really boosts my confidence that I could complete my C25K after working my butt off doing other things.

That means...I can definitely do a Triathlon, hehe.
