  • Hi Ladies:

I am still around. I am working ona big prject at work. I am still working out every day except Sundays and I feel great. I made up my mind that I deserved an hour a day for myself not matter what . That's why I switched to the gym. My blood sugars have been great. Mt eating had been good espically since I started writing everything down so when I go back to the dietician in September. LOL Amazing what a few changed will do.

Solly- Glad you enjoyed your trip and got a great night os sleep last night.

Toni- I hope you find the car you want soon.

Ellen- I hope you are able to get some sleep tonight.

Crsytle- I hope you are not lost in your garden.LOL

Well I have to go. Have agreat day all.
  • Yum just had a strawberry, banana smoothie. Sure hit the spot.

Mercee- Thats great you working out everyday and getting fit and strong. You're a very good example of doing it right.

    Crystle- Where are you?????
  • Howdy
Sorry I am absent but we are on vacation. Eating has been pitiful but I'm still having a good time. The scales are back up but not gonna change my ticker until next week because I'm gonna try to be better for the rest of vacation and see what happens.

((Everybody)) Thinking of ya'll. Especially when I do bad.

    Love and hugs,
    Crystle
  • Morning ladies:

I was really tired yesterday but I made it to the gym anyway and I felt better. I am still really busy at work and will be for the next 2 weeks. I will get in here as often as possible.

    Toni- Your smoothie sounds great.

Crystle- Enjoy your vacation and we will catch up with you when you get back.

    Have a great day everyone.
  • Oh my gosh we were blessed with some wonderful rain this morning. After two days of over 100 degree weather. Eating was great yesterday. And I even kept from snacking last night. Think I'll make tilipia fish for dinner. Maybe a small salad it.

Crystle- Enjoy your vacation. Are you just hanging around the house?

Mercee- You are really doing good with the working out. Have a great day and don't work to hard.
  • Ellen, hope you got that extra expresso or got a nap on a raft in the pool. Sweet dreams tonight.

Toni, I'm eating late will contribute to your gain. Try again tomorrow.

Mercee, Good job on the gym. I think my gym days are over. Hope your project goes smoothly.

Crystle, enjoy your vacation. I am sure your school will be starting soon.

Just got back from the surgeon's office. We are going ahead with the neck surgery. He showed my Dh my spine and it makes a backward "C" instead of being straight. Now I just have to wait until they can schedule it. It wants to do it right away. I hope it doesn't interfere with my sleep study and another test I have to have done.

    Talk to you later.
  • Just talked to my brother in the hospital and he just had surgery on his spine. They removed a disk and did a fushion. He's already up walking and doing great.

Solly- Hope your neck surgery goes well and they can get it over with fast.

    Ellen- congrads on the car.
  • Good evening
I had a terrible but delicious lunch of fried chicken gizzards but I had a fantastic dinner. I had some veggie tacos that totally wowed me and that is saying a lot. We sauteed some carrot strips, onions and mushrooms in olive oil. I put that on corn tortillas with guacamole cream (avocado, lowfat sour cream, garlic, lime juice and Louisiana hot sauce and salt) along with that salsa, lettuce tomato, small amount of refried beans and cheese. Did not miss the meat at all and it has held me for over four hours now and I am not slightly hungry. It really made me feel good to get back on track.

We haven't left town but we have been out and about while on vacation. We even accomplished a few chores.

Some goals that I am working toward are: less artificial sweetners and foods with additives. Not there all the way but I am drinking my iced tea plain now. Not gonna give up my sweet coffee milk so I'll probably switch to sugar but not yet. I have to get the calories down in other areas first. I'm hoping eating fresher will help my metabolism. Plus I just think it is healthier. Once vacation is over I plan on getting back to my walking also. It really made me feel better about myself even though I didn't lose any weight.

Toni..so glad your brother is healing so quickly. I pray he continues to do well. WTG staying away from the late night snacking. I'm with you on this heat..yuck.

Solly..praying that everything falls into place and the neck surgery doesn't interfere with the sleep test. I'm curious, when you get the neck fixed will it change your results since it is in the wrong position now? Your time away sounded wonderful. How is that precious grand baby of yours? Remind me how old please.

Ellen...so happy for you about your new car. I hope you just love it.

Getting sleepy. Since we have been on vacation we have gotten up EARLY every day...ugh..LOL

    Love and hugs,
    Crystle
  • Morning! We brought the new car home last night and now I have some errands to run...like getting an extra key made, and stuff. I like it. It drives nicely. My old Camry had a tiltable wheel with more range than this one. I feel sandwiched behind the wheel. It tilts, but not enough to move it higher to where I like it. I am going to play with it some today and see if I can move it more. Other than that, its a pretty sweet ride. Much better shape than my 1990 Camry, which Tom will drive now.

Something I ate yesterday has really disrupted my GI tract. I should have taken Beano or something! With it came bloating and I still feel that some this morning. I hope it clears up soon. I am blaming it on the Chinese food we got Wednesday night. I got a veggie Moo Shu, which was delicious, but I think much higher fats than I am used to.

I did some research on a hunch I had after reading another book on new approaches to diet for diabetics. The new book recommends limiting animal products and saturated fats, but is not as strict as the first book I read. Come to find out the doctor who wrote the first book, where it tells you to have NO animal products AT ALL, but his explanation for why no non fat dairy was a bit lame, is very closely related to PETA. Some reports questioned his motives, and research supporting a strict vegan diet for diabetes. This interests me, as I have had good results, but not the dramatic results he promised in the book. So, with that in mind, I am contemplating adding non fat dairy to my diet to get more protein. I am hoping it will help me cut down on the amount of soy I am eating, which I KNOW is not good for my thyroid condition.

Ok, off to start my day. My espresso mug is empty. Thanks for having coffee with me!

    Have a great weekend!
  • Wanted to do replies:

MERCEE: You are so faithful to your walking and working out! So inspiring! Makes me feel like I ought to go get dressed, slip my shoes on and go! My latest excuse is the temperatures are brutal...90 at 10 last night, 80 at 7 this morning! I hope the big project at work goes well....

TONI: Its been really hot here too! Yesterday, on the way home with the new car, (it has a temperature thingie!) it was 98 out! That was at 6pm! I am SO ready for the heat wave to break and it to cool off!

COUNTRY: Can you send me your recipe for the veggie tacos? They sound yummers! Good for you getting the artificial sweetners out. I don't miss them at all! I used to have a two diet coke a day habit, and now, if I have one, it tastes nasty to me! I can be happy with water or plain tea. Especially if I get some of the cool flavored teas. Try Celestial Seasonings cold brew blueberry. Its really good! And fast!

SOLLY: Am keeping you in my prayers with all you have going on. I hope you can get the sleep study done and get used to a cpap machine quickly. It will help you recover from the neck surgery I am sure. When you don't have enough oxygen in your blood, your cells and metabolism don't function at optimal levels. The cpap will help that. That is why I have lost 22 pounds since I started using mine, and with no change in diet. What other tests are you having to do?
  • Good morning ladies, I am not used to workin on Friday's so this is a bummer. Guess I will be here 5 days for awhile until all this stuff is settled as I don't want to use all my vacation until I figure all this out. Still waiting on the office to call and schedule the surgery.

We have a wedding Sat night and I am so perplexed on what to wear especially with this weather. Plus, nothing fits. I am so disgusted with myself.

Toni, your's brother's suregery sounds similar to what I am having done and what they want to do with my back. I wish him a fast and successful healing.
With my neck they will fuse 2 discs together and put a cage around them. Somthing about filling the cage with my bone marrow (don't know how they do that). They cut through the front of the neck. I think I will have a rod, plate and some crews. Sounds fun doesn't it????

Crystle, you tacos sound wonderful. My DD also gets mushroom quesadillias so I will like to know how to make something like that. The baby is fine. He will be 13 months on Sunday. Boy has that time gone fast. I have enjoyed seeing pics of your gradbaby on FB. What a cutie.

Ellen, I am so glad you got your car. I can't imagine dealing with only 1 car. Hope your tummy gets better soon.

Mercee, hope your project is going well. Don't wear yourself out.

Have a great weekend everyone. I am going to talk to my DD this weekend about getting back on track at least with our eating. She can go to the gym but I shouldn't and I could walk if it would ever cool off.
  • Good morning everyone. All this talk about walking is making me wish I could get out and walk. But the weather would keep me from it. The humidity is so bad. We grilled hot dogs last night and they didn't hit the spot. For some reason they tasted salty and icky.... Hope I can find something better for dinner tonight.

Crystle- I love your new picture on the avatar. Your hair looks beautiful. Wow I love fried gizzards. I haven't had them in years. My goodness I would also love those veggie tacos. Yum Yum.... I drink my ice tea plain. And lately have been having lots of it.

Ellen- How fun to have a new car. Sorry you got a hold of something wrong to eat. One more month of this hot weather and then we can really walk.

Solly- Its good to see you on here on a Friday. But wish you typing from home having a nice relaxing day. They put screws in the right side of my brothers spine. Hope he heals quickly and does better. I can't believe he gets to go home today. I have my nieces wedding to go to in Colorado the end of this month and can't find a thing to wear. And can't afford to buy anything. I wish I would have got more weight off this summer.

Well better go cook breakfast I'm sure Steve is starving. LOL
  • Howdy
I am so excited. I'm getting DSL next week. Hope that will make being online more productive and way less time consuming. You can't imagine how long it takes me sometimes to get a page to load. Signing up again at Spark People now that the computer should cooperate. I am Crystle_Again if any of ya'll are there. I'd love to find ya.

Ellen...there is really no recipe. It was all the things above minus the beans. I forgot I didn't eat the beans. I just seasoned with fajita seasoning.

    Toni..thank you.

Solly..sorry you are stuck at work today.

    Mercee...hope all is well today.

    ((Everybody))

    God bless,
    Crystle
  • A quick drive by to say hello to everyone. I am still busy at work and will be for about 2 weeks. I am still working out 6 days a week and I refuse to give that up. I am worth 1 hour everyday for myself. (This is my new mantra) LOL. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will stop in regularly. You guys are the best.
  • Hi everyone. Hope you're enjoying your Saturday.

Crystle- Boy DSL will help so much. Ours is a slow one and its still better than dial up.

    Mercee- Don't work to hard.

    Morning Ellen and Solly.
