Carol Sue I don't seem to have the rash any more. I've kind of learned to balance the carbs. The last time I experienced the rash has been some time back and it seemed to have been caused by too much sugar. I don't usually eat much actual sugar and I don't eat enough of other starchy carbs to hurt me. I plan to try to keep all carbs between 3 to 5 servings like the Low carb for dummies book recommended. I don't really count the veggie carbs, but I will count the starchy carbs to keep them under 75 carbs a day. Although I don't intend to be eating that many in one day.
I read about gluten a number of years but I don't seem to fit the profile and I think it is because most of the starchy foods I do eat are multigrain. I don't eat a lot of white stuff although I do eat some. Example, I really enjoy crackers with my salads. Hopefully the oil and vinegar for dressing takes care of that as well as any others I may eat.
Thank you for thinking of me though. Also thank you for the info on keto rash as I have had that when I ate VLC, but I thought it was from too much fat another reason I don't eat high fat. I do believe that I need to keep fat, protein and carbs in moderation not high.
You were talking about your Mama cooking meat, veggie and a starch. I think that was how our parents were taught to cook back then. They kind of followed the 4 food groups back then. We were pretty healthy and I often wonder if we actually caused our health problems when we moved away from that and started more of one group than the old balanced way of eating. Plus people didn't eat a lot of snacks back then or at least we didn't.
I used to buy the Slim Jim's sausage sticks too. I bought an off brand because they were cheaper. I should have bought what I like since all of them are greasy.
I cook breakfast sausage the way I cook my bacon. I cook it in the microwave and when I get ready to eat it, the fat has been cooked out of it. I have a hard time eating bacon cooked any other way.
I either have a virus today or a reaction to the spicy sausage. I didn't realize it was so spicy. I might have to ditch it unless I can figure out a way to eat it that will make it milder. I will buy a mild version if I buy any more of it. I didn't go to see Daddy just in case it is a virus. One thing about it, I should have a good weight loss tomorrow. LOL I'm still going to have the meal I planned for dinner although I may ditch the salad and make myself a veggie soup to go with my cod fish instead.
That is another reason I decided not to do CAD and just count calories. Although I do love salads, I get really burnout on them sometime. This way I can eat other veggies even a soup instead sometime and still keep carbs and calories low.
