  • Good morning everyone!
I am off to have breakfast and then to do my strength training. After taking Jasmine to school, my son and I ran to the car wash. We decided to burn a few more calories and go to the one where you pop the quarters in and wash it yourself with the big brushes and "squirt guns". (What my 4 year old son called them. ) Then we swept out the car.
It was cheaper than using a drive through car wash, and we got a little more movement in. Every little choice makes a difference in our bodies. Be active!!!
  • Hello everyone and welcome newbies! I am just checking in. I am still doing okay as far as my clothes ck. haven't done the scale lately. But maybe on friday before going off to camp again. We are sure trying to make the most out of our lovely summer. We hear that this winter is going to be really snowy here. So I am keeping some vac. days for that if I need them. I am packing some fruit salad and fresh homemade salsa for this weekend with some baked pita shells cut into triangles for chips. Hope everyone is doing well gotta go off to work! Just wanted to ck in. Oh I seem to have adjusted to smaller portions. I noticed that I am filling up quicker these days and actually taking less or using a smaller dish etc.. That is progress for me thats for sure. Less pasta more protein and veggies.
Holly I took your advice and shook it up a bit! Thanks
  • cacmsc-
The smaller dish thing is something I do a LOT at home. I still have that thing with wanting a "full" plate, so if we are having pasta, or something like that I use a salad plate instead of a dinner plate. I also have a set of dessert bowls that are a bit smaller than the regular bowls that are with my set of dishes, so I often use the salad plate and the dessert bowl together for dinner-for my entree and then the fruit or veggie that I have for the side dish.

Things are going pretty well here-but I have been AMAZINGLY busy-doing little house repairs, seamstressing jobs (getting into my busy season!!!), and with dancing, and Jasmine now in school again. September we have a lot of performances-so we have been doing a lot of rehearsing.

Happy to say that the exercise has been going well though. Yesterday I went to the walkway and Jason and the kids did 2 1/2 mile walk with me. When we have the kids with us, Raiden usually goes in the stroller and we let him out to walk the last 1/4-1/2 mile, and Jasmine obviously walks the entire way. When we do a family walk, we usually go 1 1/2 miles because Jasmine is only 6, but she wanted to go further last night. Good for her. I also did strength training yesterday. Today is cardio day, and I plan on doing some walking, as well as getting some dancing in as well to stay conditioned for the busy season.

I have my day pretty packed-sewing this morning after Jasmine goes to school-I am finishing up a costume this week! I need to get it shipped out tomorrow afternoon. Tonight is also grocery store night, and I have a million little chores and such around here.

  • Hey ladies,
How is everyone doing? You have all been quiet all week, I hope that isn't because you have gotten off track!
It is about 6:15 am, and I am getting ready for my day. I have had my coffee, and I will be getting the kids up soon so that I can get Jasmine ready for school.
I have been doing well, although my exercise was only 20 minutes yesterday-I was running around all day. Today I will surely make up for it though, because I will do my regular cardio during the day, and I have to vend this evening for the beginner classes, and I will stay and dance/help with the class. For 2 hours.
I have to get my vending items ready this morning, mail out some birthday cards, and do some other errands as well.

DragonCon is this weekend, and I am hoping to have some pictures of the most recent costume job I have been working on for the past few months to show you all after the weekend. It took a VERY long time to complete.

Ladies, get your buns back in here-I need some support!

  • Hello everyone, I think I fit in here, LOL. I've been keeping track in a journal since 8/8, and have been working on losing weight since August first. I had lost weight, and fit in a size 8 when I moved to Ohio. Then I expanded. My goal is 150 which is my "winter Weight" before kids. I've been keeping my calories between 1300 and 1400 calories. Aerobic (power walking) three to five days a week, and some small weight. I also work on abs every other day.

I hope to get to know ya'll better.
  • Yes, all's been quiet here
Aphil, thanks for the post. I was noticing the same thing, and realizig I was part of the silence problem. I thought maybe I had missed a post and the automatic e-mail notifier wasn't working this week. And there you were!

I missed 3 days of walking already this week and its 81 out already so I'll be brief. And a couple of pounds are showing up too. This sounds meager but it is true that my 2 or 3 lb fluctuation is still at a lever 15 lbs less than my top, so I know that terrible high is well in the past (although could get back there if I don't keep taking the action).

And I've been going to bed 12:30 - 1:30, the point I stop actually watching the calories.

Angela, this is a terrific group, welcome. I look forward to your posts.

It is great to have a support group and be honest about what I'm doing about my eating habits. Then I get to hear that others are working at it too.
  • Angela welcome aboard. The site seems to be a be quiet right now but people are hopefully just on vacation etc.. end of the summer stuff. This site will help provide you with friendship and support needed along the way.......
Aphil thanks for you input. I also have littel antique bowls I keep for desserts etc. for portion control. I do notice that this summer I have maintained my wt. well. But need to now make some changes to loss some more. I am currently at 171 that is still up 2lbs. from my lowest pt. in years. But I have toned up to. My clothes are loose and to the eye I have lost. My size 10's are getting loose. That is the smallest in many years! I must be doing somethings right! I am going to change my calories starting tues. to 1300-1400 for most days unless its a special event we are going to. I am trying to loose 10lbs. by christmas...... Then exercising at the gym will be a scheduled thing for me. I think I am even going to get the bike out and take some rides we'll see how that goes. Any extra ideas please post them I am up for all the info. I can gather. I am 5 7" and bigger boned than most ladies. Lets say I am not petite in anyway!
Elyse nice to hear from you! Your making changes and that is so important then they become routine and so natural. It all takes time that is for sure. If we rush things to much they back fire! Slow is better and then maintaining....
  • Good Morning Everyone!

I think I'm getting the hang of the fit journal. I really love how it tells where everything goes!

I walked three miles yesterday (hills). and based on my fit journal took in 1313 calories. I also worked last night (PT retail) for 5 hours so this am, my legs are aching! I think I need to get an ab video. Right now I'm doing 9 diferent types of abs for twenty reps, but I'm not sure if they are good together. (I follow "the perfect abs" from my Husbands Muscle and fitness magazine, then add a few more lower ab exercises. "BELLY FAT BELLY FAT go AWAY!" I do my abs every other day.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day,
  • Ab work is excellent for toning up muscle in the belly, but remember, it strengthens, shapes, and firms the adominal muscles. If you still have fat there though, the hard work you are doing will not be as noticeable. The fat layer has to be reduced by losing weight, and I recommend adding cardio to your exercise routine as well, to reduce your body fat.
  • 40 lbs lost as of this morning!!!! I'm so excited. I haven't weighed this much since 1997. Oh my.....that's 9 years ago. Just wanted to share.

ETA My BMI is now merely overweight as opposed to obese Whoo hoo!!!
  • Hi everyone! Now this is an awesome thread!! I think it is perfect for me. Looks like it is a perfect site for everyone! It is huge!! I love it.

I am new to calorie counting. However, I am a calorie counter now. With the help of many different people on these boards I have learned a lot in the past week about calorie counting, healthier choices for food, and exercising again. Such wonderful people! So caring... spending so much time to help others in need... even strangers! You can't find a friendly or more helpful site anywhere!

Anyway, I started counting my calories last week. My weigh in days are on Thursday mornings. So I think it was that night or the next (Friday) day I started counting calories. I found that the foods I was eating were basically worthless! So I bought better choices when I was able to go shopping. Which was Monday. So I got a late start this week on healthier food choices.

However, due to everyone that helped me figure out calorie counting... I also figured out that exercise would help me! I have been exercising every day since! Even Sunday... which I never did before lol. I do Leslie Sansone's WATP videos. I love them!

Don't pay attention to my current weight and gain though. Again, I didn't have very healthy food choices when I started counting calories so it is messed up. Plus I started TOM as well, which does not help at all! This week I have been eating much better and exercising.. so one day a difference will be seen on the scale. But I am feeling much better!

If you would like to know more about me please check out my personal web site: http://www.freewebs.com/tracym04/.

SUSANB.... thank you so much for directing me over here!
  • Instead of starting a new thread for this week, I thought I'd hop on over here.
