  • Hi, all. Melissa, sorry you are stressed. Just keep that vacation in mind and soon it will be here.
Loofah - I take 500 mg. Glucophage 2x daily. I have to take the brand because the side effects of the generic are horrible for me. I get some intestinal gas with Glucophage but its tolerable. What kinds of symptoms are you having?
Rosey - sorry about your blood pressure. I have it too and take medication for it. I take it before I go to bed because that's when I think it's the highest. Don't notice any side effects. What kind of medication are you taking? I have a wrist blood pressure cuff. Mine reads lower than I think it should too. I did take it to my doctor and he checked it against his and it worked for him.
Well, I didn't do very well eating wise this weekend. I can do okay during the week but then I undo everything on the weekend. Got to get better motivated. Tired of losing and gaining the same 10 lbs.
  • I am on Metformin, 3 a day. 1500 mg a day.
  • just wind and *ahem* runnies

It used to be worse when I was last on but then I realised I was lactose intolerant So stopping the lactose did wonders.

It doesn't make me feel wired sorry

I have had a stressful few days - the company that runs my weightloss message board server (Ezboard) was hacked and we lost thousands of posts and it has been a real mess
  • I am so sorry
I am so very sorry I have not been here latley. I have been very busy latley. I though I would let ya all know I was still alive. and kicking. Hope everyone is doing fine and doing great. Angie
  • Hi everyone,
I'm new to this board (though I registered a zillion days ago). I was diagnosed with diabetes about 10 days ago so I'm looking everywhere for support and information. All these years of dieting, and now I don't know what I'm doing. . . Hope to see the dietician soon. In the meantime. . . hello!!!!!!!
  • Diabetes
I was diagnosed about 18 months ago and I think that the most important thing I did was swear off sugar completely. One bite sets me off on a binge, and I know that I just can't have it. Many people (including a dietician) have said to me, "Oh, you can just have a little sugar." My answer to that is that, no, I can't have just a little sugar. I have never been able to have just a little sugar. That's just me, but I find it easier not to have it at all than to try and have a little and stop. I was taking Avandamet until they stopped making it, now I have to take the two separate prescriptions.
  • Morning everyone..its gorgeous out today..hello to army girl and joyful.. im rosey from alaska..have had type 2 for about 7 yrs now..i would be happy to share info with you.. remember tho we are all diff and what works for me might not for you..rosetta have not heard from u lately are u ok?? ive been sick the last 2 days this new meds change is a bummer and spent alot of time in the bathroom i feel better today tho..we had the dd and her family here yesterday.. they went beach walking and looking for spirit stones..we had a bq when they got back.. i had tea and dry toast ..have a great day everyone (((((((((hugs))))))))) rosey
  • Hi, all. Rosey, I'm okay. Just didn't have much to say. Still off plan. Grr. Am having trouble getting myself moving. Need to start walking. I no longer have the orthopedic problems as excuses but I've gotten so lazy and fat that it's difficult for me to move. I hope you're doing better with the meds. What are spirit stones?
Connie and army girl -- welcome to our thread. I've been diabetic for 10 years or so. right now I'm in pretty good control with meds. Could do better with my diet tho. We are all struggling. Just keep posting and we will support each other.
Angie and Loofah - good to hear from you.
  • Hi rosetta..glad to here from u..spirit stones are found in only a few places usually where a glacier has past eons ago..they are really called concreations..they are bubble shaped rocks or look like bubbles stuck together.they come in all shapes and sizes but all have that bubble hooked together look.. rounded shapes..every one sees something diff in them ..like mother and child ot turtles etc.. the natives call them spirit stones..we have found a few and the grdd wanted one..the ones we found look like fat turtles.. kinda neat and a good way to spend the day..sorry you are strugling can i help at all? the increase in glucopahge and one night of eating deep fried foods kept me in the bathrm for hrs..since i had my gall bladder out i dont process fats to well and the meds do the same..the new b/p meds are working and my skin on my face looks deflated..gees i hate getting older but the b/p is sure lower.. anyways hello to all (((((((hugs)))))) rosey
  • Hello y'all,
Hope everyone is doing well. Hope you are feeling better Rosey. I have gained 5 pounds which really sucks. We are going to be moving back to our home town so I think the stress may be getting to me. Some good news I am getting a gym membership when we go home. There are no good gyms here so I am really happy abou that.

    Melissa
  • my sugars are good the last few days. connie watch the food you eat that have lots of sugar. drink lots of wateer and glen
  • Hi Rosey - Those spirit stones sound great. Hope you and dgd find some. I have the same reaction when I take an increased dosage of Glucophage. I had my gallbladder out but don't seem to have too much trouble with fat anymore. In fact, I can now eat all the fried stuff I couldn't eat in the ten years before I had the surgery. However, except for bacon and occasional onion rings, I don't indulge too much. Well, after posting yesterday, I made myself go for the walk I've been trying to do. Walked about 12 blocks in 30 minutes. Was huffing and puffing and hard to move because of the fat but I did it! Will try to repeat it again tonight and maybe I will be able to walk the 23 blocks I used to do.
Melissa - Moving can be very stressful. Try not to take it out on yourself.
Glen - glad your sugars are better.
Oh Rosey - I know about getting older. I was watching a 60s rock N Roll reunion on PBS and I could hardly believe how some of those old rockers --many of whom I hadn't seen since the 60s -- had aged. Wouldn't recognize them at all.
  • Hi all!
Been busy downstairs lately and not in the office much.

Went to my doctor and he is fine with my doing diet and herbal supliments.
I had him check all the ingredients to be sure I wasn't getting toxic levels of certain vitamins-so i feel good about that.
Feel fine except when I sabatoge myself usually because of stress. Read a helpful line:
What was eating you before you started eating?

Rosetta-can identify with 60's music( class of '64)
Malissa-you'll get it back off-when I'm stressed I gain about 3 lbs and it leaves pretty quick.
Glen-great about the good sugars - mine are mid range right now and if they get above 300 and don't come down enough, then I will take a pill- especially if I'm low on the cabbage family foods that help bring it down.
Don't have to take a pill often and usually my stress eating put it high. Last time it was leftover cake from Memorial Day family cookout.

Hi Rosey-stones sound neat. Understand about the gallbladder. Glad you feel better.
Need to get cracking on the Do stetching and a little walking-too hot lately-90's.
Well better get some work done. Have a great day.
