  • I usually ride my stationary bike about an hour a day everyday. On cheat days I only ride 30 mins, I just don't feel right when I don't ride it now. Too bad the mileage reader is broken. But I assume I am riding over 3 miles a day atleast. I would like to start running or even walking but it's so cold out, and the cold makes me so itchy. So I will continue with this challenge in mind!
  • If you go to a fitness site like fitnesspal.com you can log in you bike riding, and a lot of other activities and it will figure for you your miles. Hope that helps
  • I kicked off my journey of 1000 miles with 4.1 miles on the treadmill at the fitness club. It was about as crowded as I've ever seen it. I guess everyone has their resolutions.
  • I'm in!
  • Walk 0/500

  • I'd like to join you too Sum38. Thanks for starting this challenge.

I will walk 500 miles and I will do 2400 minutes aerobics, weight training, toning, stair climbing etc. Since I love walking at Stone Mountain, I shouldn't have a problem getting in the 500 miles.

    1/1 - 30 Min WW Punch DVD
    1/2 - 25 Mins Firm DVD & .5 mile walk
1/3 - 30 Mins of Stairs & Walking on my work breaks - This was a scheduled rest day
1/4 - 30 Mins Firm Cardio Inferno, 15 min walk & stairs at work
    1/5 - 3 mile walk @ Stone Mtn.
    1/6 - 3 mile walk @ the Mtn
    1/7 - 40 mins Firm DVD

    6.5/500 Miles
    170/2400 Minutes
  • I don't know if it was mentioned before or not but it would be nice if you go back and edit your post to add the miles each day, that way the post don't get out of hand and way over 500 posts in no time. You can still make posts about comments too but if you just log in your miles it makes it nicer to just edit the post. Gosh, was that confusing?

We can do that, or we can just start part #2 etc. Unfortunately, from experience, many will drop out. I hope that is not the case this time around!!! -- I was left to post my progress alone for many months last year. SOOOO I challenge each one of you to stay on path
  • I was wondering how to get a nifty progress tracker like sum38.

Also, I am having 2nd thoughts about this goal. 2.75 miles a day is what it works out to be. That sounds do-able, but that has no allowances for days off, or days with other fitness activities. I just totalled my logs and discovered I only walked and ran about 480 miles in 2012. HELP I need encouragement/strategies/etc.
  • I plan on staying the course as I MUST exercise for health reasons. I am trying to stay consistent with it.

    To date:
    Walking 1/500
    Aerobics 90/2400
  • You can log in other activity too..Swimming, hiking, riding bikes.... just whatever works for you. And you can go to a fitness site like fitnesspal.com and look up that activity and it will figure it out for you... Check it out.
  • I'm in! One of my running goals this year is to hit 1000 miles. I'll probably just update mine once a week. Between being a full time student, working part time as an undergrad research assistant, an hour commute, and having 2 kids in elementary school, I don't have much free time during the week. I weigh in Sat mornings before I run, so I'll just add updating this at the same time.

I'm only counting miles I run.

    2013 total: 16.68
  • 8 miles so far this week. Going to do 5 today to help make up for being under.

I am really excited about this challenge, I think its just hard enough and just doable enough!

  • Hi Everyone, good to see so many committed to a year long goal.

juneum, those winter days is what inspired me to buy a Striv and challenge myself to 10,000 steps a day. It depends on your step distance but 10,000 steps is around 4 1/2 miles. Stay & set your goal for 500 miles, but STAY!

His firefly, can't wait till I can add tickers to help me keep track of miles and pounds lost.

Tabbycat, you are 57 years young - same as me! I am impressed with your running btw.

Karen, if I edit my post does it show up as the last post on the thread or does it remain where I first posted it? I think I'll start riding my indoor bike.

Thank you sum38 for being flexible with starting a new thread if need be.

JANUARY MILES to date: 20 miles
