  • Sewmam, thanks for posting your information. It was exactly what I was looking for.
  • Quote: I am in week 6 and just started doing some walking this week. I am curious what you do for exercise while on IP. Have you noticed any dizziness? I am not feeling good at all this week and am wondering if walking has caused this. How much exercise is too much???
    I know the dizziness you are talking about. I worked out from time to time before IP, but a few years ago i was heavy in the gym... this means nothing to me either, infact i was going to post something about my dizziness too, so i'm glad you mentioned it. I dont know what it is either. I'm actually quite confused on when and when not to eat an extra pkt. My workouts now are just 45 min on the treadmill 2.5 @ 5.0 incline. It's def. a workout (for me), i'm sweatin, and breathing hard.. was curious if i was going to hard... especially since the scale hasnt moved since my last WI. Are you eating extra protein? I try to plan my workouts before my next meal so i can eat after my workout, and i usually do 1/2 snack before.. or vise versa. I'm with you.. i'm confused on this whole work out thing. lol I fear that I am causeing more damage than good.
  • Quote: In third week of Phase 1 but my coach strongly advised no exercise except walking because the lack of carbs will lead to muscle vs fat being burned if you exercise.
    This is why we have an extra IP packet on the days we work out. One week I wasn't good at all about taking my extra IP protien drink to the gym with me and that was the week I lost muscle and gained fat, and that was after a good strength training week too. The following week I remembered to bring my drink with me each time and sure enough my muscle went up and my body fat went down that week. This way your body won't go to your muscles looking for protein, as you are providing it with enough protein when it needs it through the extra IP packet.
  • I was doing P90X before starting IP. My coach told me absolutely NO exercise on phase 1. She said I can walk in the course of my daily activities, but no breaking a sweat. She said if I break a sweat, I need to slow down. I don't really understand the reasons they tell us not to exercise, but it apparently has something to do with maintaining muscle mass.
  • Bodypump
    [QUOTE=artflunky;4282537]
    Quote: Before IP I was doing a weightlifting class (Bodypump) 2-3x/week that I have dropped, but I am still doing a ~2.5 mile walk daily when I take my son to the park. The walk is pretty low intensity, and there is the 45minute break in the middle when my son is playing. I'd like to talk with my coach about picking up Bodypump again (albeit at a much lower intensity), as I have always 'been strong' and would like to keep up my muscle tone. I am at the end of week 5 (WI tomorrow).

    I do bodypump 2x a week and several days of cardio (spin, step etc.) I feel like the pump has kept me looking really toned. I'm not trying to up my weights and keep it easy with the back track as the clean and presses can make me dizzy! Haven't had any issues. I started after week 2 and am going into 8. If you're craving it, do it!
    I am starting up Bodypump again this week! Low intensity - much lower intensity (I used to really pump it up and sweat it out), I just want to work on maintaining my strength.
