  • 5-Hour Energy has been clinically tested in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover scientific study that was Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved. This study was funded by 5-Hour Energy and demonstrated 5-Hour Energy is an effective way to achieve long-lasting energy without a sudden drop in energy later. While the study has not yet been published, studies that are IRB approved have been reviewed by a panel of health care professionals and certified as having followed all FDA and protocol regulations.

This clinical study concluded the group that consumed 5-Hour Energy demonstrated an increase in alertness and cognitive functions measured over more than a five-hour period versus a control group given a placebo. One of the specifically defined performance measures tested was “continuity of attention,” defined as the lack of interruption or disconnection.
  • Hi all- I'm afraid to try 5 hour due to hypoglycemia. Anyone with low blood sugar tried it and had no problems?
  • Scott, thanks for answering my question. I think it's an OK product for me.
  • I love it! safe for me with diabetes. I am a pool player and 5hr energy shots are my "go to" help on a long tourney day. It is loaded with b vitamins.
  • This thread made me go buy some more 5 hour energy. I will say...this stuff is really expensive, so I just bought the 2 pack for backup emergencies.

Thanks for your input, Riemontana, maybe I'll give it a try tomorrow... 5 hour energy in one hand, glucose tabs in the other, just in case, lol.
  • I love it too! I have hypothyroidism so I have to be careful with most energy drinks, as I will get the spins, nausea and jitters with anything that attempts to increase my metabolism/heart rate. 5HE gives me an instant boost with out any of those crummy side effects. I take it 3-5 times a week. I can't say that it is an effective weight loss method for me, but it definitely helps boost my energy and keep the depression at bay. (I'm also a non-medicated manic depressant)
