I think a lot of it is what you're used to. If you've "known" someone (be it a celeb or someone in real life) who's been overweight most of their lives, they can look kind of "weird" when they get thin. Unfortunately, I think this applies more to older people. When my FIL lost a bunch of weight, he looked kind of gaunt and saggy around the face and neck. I got used to it after a while and am SO glad he got healthier...but he just looked more youthful when his face was a little plumper (it probably also didn't help that he refused to buy enough new clothes...when I first saw him after the weight loss, he had his pants all sinched up around his waist...he just kind of looked like a poor homeless person or something!)
I agree though that health is way more important than what other people think or what they're used to.
