Thanks for the margie, Bagz. Just what I needed. DH and I sat around last night watching a movie and discussing who drank the giant bottle of tequila that was in the liquor cabinet for years (we usually go out for our libations, so neither of us could think of the last time we'd used it. Maybe the time has come to lock up the liquor? Honestly I'd be some surprised if DD drank it. She's still at that "I wouldn't touch that nasty stuff" stage, but who knows?

DD played in the pep band at the football game last night. Our team got creamed, but the band sounded great! This was the closest she's gotten to participating in sports in years...

i just found out last night that my nephew has been buying booze for dd18 and her friends for the last few years-----now at this point,i can deal with it---BUT IF I KNEW THAT WHEN SHE WAS FIFTEEN,I WOULD HAVE BLOWN A GASKET----what I now realize is that anything is indeed ,unfortunately,possible---call me Miss Downer!!!!{ i had two jumbo margies and a mike's cranberry lemonade and now I have a GIANT headache} ---maybe doggie drank the tequila---or maybe a moose,if there was a salt lick---terrible accident in Maine the other day,KIwi---was that close to you????

That was really bad. It's not that close to us, but then it was on a bridge over the Allagash Waterway, which isn't close to anything. I have been up in that direction before.

(For everyone else, 14 foreign workers (from Guatemala and somewhere else) died when the van they were riding in went off a bridge. One guy survived.) All I could think of was "how do you get 15 people in a van??", but it turns out it was actually a 15 passenger van. I was imagining a van with people squeezed in to the roof. By the way, the workers were all legal, all with families in their home countries, not here with them. Pretty awful, eh?

Bagzie, darling! I'm dreading the day when my boys start wanting to act grown up. Right now they think alcohol is disgusting, but I know that will change in a hurry. Your poor sister. We're invited to a sort of wedding reception (secret wedding was in June) in two weeks and I have nothing to wear, as usual. Was downtown today and of cours the summer stuff is gone and the fall/winter stuff is ugly, ugly, ugly. 'Sides that, with the weather we've been having lately, it could be boiling hot or snowing by then.

Ooh, awful about that accident in Maine. We had two trains crash into each other pretty close to here a couple days ago and one of the trains was carrying chemicals which exploded and sent fumes into the air. First they said it was harmless but now 120 people are experiencing respiratory difficulty and headaches which means they've been poisoned. Hope the wind doesn't blow it this way.

about 4 pm, when the weather channel lady said it would not rain for a while and we could go out and run errands, I took ds to the party. It was smooth all the way up and downpouring so I couldn't see all the way back.

I am worried now after hearing bagz's news. Ds, Mr. Introvert, has been thrown into a geography class with a bunch of kids he calls "skaters." What is that? Anyway, he thinks they think he's one of them and he seems to like it. Are these drug addicts? Will they be giving him crack at lunchtime?

Sorry for all the doggie concerns, Kiwi. Pets have such pure motives. It's easy to love them.

Peaches, my guess is that skaters are like slackers -- don't do anything much, or more likely they are skateboarders. But I will ask DD tomorrow if it means something else. Actually skateboarders aren't the worst people to hang around--at least they are doing something!

DD's geometry class is full of sophomores (not a lot of skateboarding here in the north woods..), meaning that after excelling every year in math and being in advanced classes, now she is in a class of average students. I guess it can't be helped; there weren't enough freshmen who completed algebra to make up a class. Too bad though. Two advanced students she knows have decided to add Algebra II to their schedule (take 2 math classes every day ), but she doesn't have room.

I hope Peachboy doesn't change his attitude toward school because of these kids (or god forbid get in with any druggies). It's hard to be your own person in 9th grade I think.

Sugar, that train accident is really scary. This is why every gentleman should carry a handkerchief and every lady should have a purse full of kleenex -- you never know when you'll need an air filter...

Hi cowsies. I hung out all weekend with ppl who would probably say yes to most of Kiwi's questionaire. Actually, everybody was really fun and I wish you all could have been there, because for Gawd's sake, you all need it. I fell head over heels for the DH all over again, because he's the sweetest handsomest cowboy at the whole shindig I didn't drink a single margie, but I did drink buckets of a drink called "sex on the beach". Who comes up with these names???

Peachy, I wouldn't worry if DS wants to hang around skaters. My DS was really into skateboarding at that age, and the kids he hung with were really anti-drug. He gave me all kinds of headaches for other reasons, but drugs and drinking were never one of them.

Sugar, I hate the fact that stores never have the clothes for the current season. I'm sure the shopaholic type women shop one season ahead, but since I have to be practically nekid before I will buy clothes for this fat body, I always get the left overs (I just last week finally broke down and bought some new shorts for this summer).

Kiwi, sorry to hear the DDoggie is doing poorly. My Dotty-dog has been having problems with urine leakage (eeeew), she has to be on a medication for the rest of her life for it, and DD is supposed to be in charge of her doctoring, but apparently she's missed a few pills lately. Grrr. I hate being responsible for every little thing.

We're looking at 45 acres to buy and build a house on. If only all the developers who have been after our property would only come through with enough $$$$'s. This place is so cool because it already has an old barn on it, and is fenced and has a well drilled. It's what we've been looking for, so keep your fingers crossed for us.

Bagzie, how sad and comforting at the same time for your sister. A couple gals at the rodeo this weekend had lost their husbands in the previous 2 years and they were telling me how they still felt their presence all the time.

Well, yak at ya later cows. I'm still recovering from the rodeo, and last night I couldn't sleep at all for thinking about buying that property.

My dog also has that problem with slight incontinence -- When it started years ago, we were able to control it with DES, a hormone replacement, which we could give on and off. A few years ago it got to be a constant thing and we switched to PPA, which totally took care of the problem. Unless of course you forget the pill one day...

And to talk endlessly once more about my dog, this morning she had a seizure -- it's the first time, in fact the first I've ever seen one. I was a wreck. She got over it pretty soon and seemed exactly like normal. We went to the vet this afternoon and he couldn't tell me much, just that if they continue it may be a tumor, considering her age. Her limp hasn't improved so he took her off etogesic (which might even have been the cause of the seizure) and put her on steroids. So, she'll be hungry and thirsty and probably pee everywhere, but who knows? maybe it will work.

Wabbit, I hope you get to build that house, that would be exciting -- we can build our houses together! Of course we are still in the planning stage. But then we already have the property--I'm sitting on it.

I have started an online journal, ostensibly to log our house-building project, but the first entry is about the dog. Yes, it's diaryland, shutup.
