Hey guys! I would like to join this exercise challenge! I ran my first 5 K this weekend, 38 minutes. I went pretty slow the first half and then fast the second half. Oh well! I RAN the whole way, and 4 months ago I could not have run 1/2 a mile!

In the spring I want to join our local USA fit chapter. It is where you join other people to train for a marathon or a half marathon. You are placed in groups depending on your speed for about 3 miles.

By Christmas, I want to lose 19 lbs.
I will run 3 miles 3 times a week and go for a longer run once a week.
I will drink 64 oz water per day.
I will end the snacking and picking that has been plaguing me this month.

Michelle: A mile is approximately 1.6KMs. For example 3 miles is roughly 5K.

Cheers!

HI the answer to you question is 6.2 milesfor a 10K and 3.1 miles for a 5k. I hope that answers your question. I believe that a half marathon is 13.(some ) miles and a marathon is 26.(some )miles. I hope to do a half next summer.
Looks like everyone is doing great on the running. You all keep up that great work. Have to love when you shave off time.
I have been good with my eating too but I an taking one day a week off if I have been good the rest of the week and that way I won't feel deprived. I did that last week and wow if has been good. I hope that I can keep this up.
Well on to a nother day.

Well so far so good. Halloween has made it hard, but I think I will still lose tis week. I did binge last night on chocolate bars Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! But I think it's going to be okay. I'm just going to be really really good for the rest of the week.

I ran 10K on Saturday and I'm going 5.6K today, tomorrow and Friday. Thursday I'll power walk for 50 mins. That should lead to a good weigh in on Friday.

Good Morning!

Well I was able to stay away from the halloween candy last night but it was HARD! I ran 5.6K on my lunch hour and am planning to do the same today.

superjaxter - Welcome aboard! Okay so you are making a commitment to work out 3x a week? Keep us posted... My commitment is to run 4X but I find I've been going more often on my lunch hour. It's either that or sit here and surf the net for an hour, I pick exercise!

2cutekids - That is an awesome time for a 10K. Running distances like that you are sure to lose some weight!

MichelleRae - I know what you mean about the kids! I have three and there is no way I can do a workout at home. Thank goodness for my lunch hour!

So how have you all been doing with the 2 lbs a week challenge?

I really don't feel like doing anything today! Since I ran on Tues and Wed I think I'll allow myself to relax a bit and do a power walk instead. It's a 60 min walk and it's worth 3 APs. Since weigh in is tomorrow I'm going to force myself to go. Besides I have a bit of a routine here, if I don't go it will screw up my whole afternoon. Okay, here I go.

HI I hope that you have a great power walk today. I took today off and will do a interval tomorrow but I did do some weights.
The long run you would think would help me lose the weight but I have hit a platue. I think I am fairly comfortable with my size now. I know I would like it if I lost more but if it happens it does but having been over weight all my life(anywhere from a size 16-20) NOw in a size 8 I should be happy.
I hope that you can keep up the great work on staying away from the Halloween candy. I have been good and not eat the kids. We have a night out and I hope that I can eat heathy but I seem to have a problem whne I get out of the house.
That is enough. Have a great day.

Good morining!

I am slightly disappointed with my progess this week. I weighed in higher than I thought I would. But I guess that halloween candy finally caught up with me

Okay well now I'm motivated to do better this week! I also didn't run as much as I have on previous weeks because I was lacking in motivation. Not any more! I'm now starting to plan my half marathon training schedule. This year I will run the half... and next year I will try to run the full marathon.

Okay well just to put things into perspective... I was down 1.5 lbs when the two previous weeks I lost 3.2 and 2.6 lbs. So I would say that I'm not doing all that badly... but next week I plan to do much better. I am aiming for two pounds a week... So far I have lost a total of 7.3. Next week I hope to have lost a total of 10 lbs. That's my mini goal. No more halloween treats!

Default Not too late?

It's not too late to join the Christmas Challenge is it? I was hoping to lose 30 pounds by Christmas (starting mid-September) so that I can reward myself with a full-body massage at the spa! (My sister and I are hoping to make a full day of it!)

So far, I've lost 9 pounds using my manual treadmill and Leslie's WATP for Abs tapes (sans belt - mine broke and I need a new one). So that's 21 more pounds in the next 7 weeks. (That's an average of 3 pounds per week and not too bad... a little more than reccommended, but it's for a full body massage!!)

Hope it's OK to join in!

Hey it's never too late to join in!!

Three pounds a week is ambitious. But you know what... although I said I expected to lose 2 a week, ultimately I am hoping for three. So far I have averaged slightly more than two. This week is going to be kick ***!!

I ran 10 K yesterday and that was worth 10 WW Points. I'm not eating them as I think I mentioned before... I'm just counting them as a measurement of how much work I've done.

I weighed in this morning at 152.0 which means I have lost 10lbs! I have to wait till friday to change my stats. It would be amazing if I could get down to 150 by then!!!

Anyway... welcome to the Challenge! I try to post my activity here every day it helps keep me motivated.

I made out my training schedule for the ING Ottawa half marathon. It will take me a total of 28 weeks to prepare including a kilometer build-up program followed by a half marathon training schedule.

HI everyone had a hard weekend. We had a night out and did pretty good but we had friends over on Saturday and Sunday. That is when I got you of hand. I need to get better with myself control.
I did my 10K run this morning and was albe to shave off 30 sec. I am down to 64.30 I will have to keepthat up. I got an early birthday present from my mom and dad. They got me a new recob bike that is a 2 in 1 the other is a rower. I have been on that as well. I am loving it. I think that it will help that way I am not killing my knees.
Annie I am sorry to hear that you didn't have the best weight in but I am sure that you are still doing better that you think. Just keep up your great work.
Peach linen Welcome. you are going to great keep up the great work you have a good start.
