Hi Ruth, we miss you, but do what you need to do! I am thinking of you, I know you have alot going on at home!

Hi Basha, congrats on your DS graduation- that's great. And doesn't it feel better to get the eating under control? I'm feeling better, too. Yesterday I had a tough day ANOTHER no show from a workman expected to do some work for us. I took a 1/2 vacation day and he called at 3 and rescheduled for today. I was so mad, this was the second time I took off for this, and it's still not done!

partly, I know I am also mad at DH, and I should talk to him; I am using up vacation time on these house repairs and he NEVER helps out with it. He has tons of vacation time unused, but won't take off. I am getting resentful that I do all the prep, calling, getting estimates, dealing with workmen, and staying home. I ended up eating Burger Kind(just a small fry with my double cheeseburger half-roll) but still, what's the point in hurting my own diet just from being mad?

Can you tell it was a frustrating day? I'll do better today. It is a busy day at work, 2 meetings, and 2 other people out, so I should be able to ignore food! That would be the best option!

b- swiss cheese omelet
l-ground beef and cabbage
s- lc yogurt
d- broccoli and salmon?
desert- mini sf cheesecake(made in a muffin tin)

I have to get to the store for some salad stuff, I need to eat some fiber!

that's it for me, hi to Sono, Kel, L, gail, Linda, leenie everyone else!

I can't believe how EVERYONE is jumping on the LC thing and producing frankenfoods. I sure liked it better a few years back when it wasn't so popular and we HAD to eat whole/fresh foods since there wasn't any option. That was so much more healthy and there wasn't any of this temptation. (it is nice to have a 'legal' cheat once and a while but you KNOW we have no self control or we wouldn't be where we are in the first place. _I_ certainly don't need someone to give me permission to cheat. lol)

Dottie - I think you should vent (in a kinda nice way, or not) to your hubby. You should be sharing the burden. He wanted to move to this house too and knew the work it was going to take. It shouldn't all be on you. The hamburger/cabbage thingie sounds good - think I will prepare some of that soon.

Leens - Step away from the Dorritos! lol

Ruthie - We're thinking about you, sweetie. We know you are here in spirit even if we don't see your words. Shoot! It's been 4 years, I don't think you are going to abandon us now!

Hello to everyone else I missed - Happy Hump Day!

Well, *shading eyes with hand* I think I can see the finish line! Graduation day is tomorrow and mostly everything is done. Melis is off today (Seniors don't have to take finals if they have A's already) and will wipe down the kitchen good. (have you noticed how teenagers can prepare a small snack in the kitchen and it ends up looking like they fixed a 5 course meal in there?) I'm sure it will have to be done again, maybe a couple times, before all the company arrives.

Got wonderful news yesterday and it looks like Cody WILL be moving on to 9th grade with his friends. It was touch and go there for a while but I've been in constant contact with his teachers (he was in danger in 4 classes!) over the last month and a half and seems he pulled it off! He vows to keep on top of things up at the high school.

Better jet - 'many miles to go before I sleep' (or drop from sheer exhaustion).

Spent most of the day (well 4 hours!) writing three scripts for the monologues I have to present at the Heritage Society tonight. 1500 words in four hours. I have no idea if that's good or not but it sure is great to get it over with! (Never end a sentence with a preposition!)

Tomorrow is doctor morning for Harry and then I have my afternoon "off" to go for groceries. Friday we plant the village containers and Saturday I plant the Fairground. Sunday is the MS walk.

I am not whining, just feeling good to get stuff in hand. I spend too darn much time online!

Geez the Frankenfood thing is getting out of hand. Didn't we gain our flab by eating "treats"? And I've yet to find anything that tastes as good as the real thing - like pralines and cream ice cream or real chips or Mikes Hard Lemonade...............stop me soon as I'm outta control. I think I'll treat myself to a gin and diet tonic before dinner tonight.

Dottie, give me five minutes alone with your husband for some "therapy"! He needs to help!

Gotta go and throw together three small items for costume changes. See you later.

Dottie, I'll get together with Ruth and we'll gang up on your hubby. He needs a reality check. Two fat chicks with metal bras and chicken purses should get him shaped up PDQ.
I should talk! We had one good day over the weekend when Peter could have mowed the lawn but he didn't do it. Well, I do everything else in the garden and he's always claimed he's the only one who can do the lawn right so if it's 1 foot tall by the time we get some decent weather, that's his problem. I'm finding that now our garden is getting more mature, I spend a lot of time with pruning shears and a tiny saw cutting back overgrown shrubs. Who knew they'd get so big in 9 years?!! That stinkin' juniper kills everything in its path.

I actually made it to the pool this morning and put in an hour of mild to moderate exercise. Then I had to go to one of my club member's homes to help her put together our fundraiser cookbook. Some of the recipes had me drooling, but that's not unusual.

I made a yummy Chicken Cacciatore for dinner last night. It's from a WW cookbook but it's also low carb. I used 10 skinless chicken thighs and browned them first in some oil. Removed them from pan while I sauteed 2 chopped onions and 4 cloves minced garlic. Add in a large tin (28 oz) of diced tomatoes, a chopped green pepper and lots of sliced mushrooms, salt, pepper, 1 tsp oregano and 1/4 cup of tomato paste. Bring to simmer and put your chicken back in and let it simmer covered for about 30 minutes. I added a dash of tabasco sauce for a bit more zest. Great served with fresh green beans.

Yikes! it seems like I haven't been here in months! and yet I know it's only been (I think) a couple of days ... work has been very long days, combined with trying to get the office in my house into some kind of order (that is a project that is taking longer than forever!~), not to mention trying to get ready for the grandbabies' arrival late tonight. They'll be here until Monday night, so I may not be able to get back here till they've gone, altho I WILL try to at least pop in and see what's going on with you chickies. I always know that no matter how bad my eating, I can find inspiration here from all of you.......

Kel, I hope all is going well with the "visit", and most of all, that Melis is enjoying herself....

Dottie, I think that contractors on LI are all cut from the same bolt of cloth! Our time is worthless and theirs is not - or so they see to think! As for DH, he really does need to use some of HIS vacation and/or personal time for some of this stuff - not to mention the fact that it sometimes seems like the contractors will *&*^% around with female customers' time, but less so with the male customers - sad, but true (kind of like with many of the auto mechanics!)

Ruth - I hope you are finding SOME time for yourself to relax in all of the projects that you are handling.......

LindaBC, L, Leenie, Peach, Basha and anyone else whom I've missed - .......
I hope all you "yanks" enjoy the long holiday weekend - keep safe!....

Oh, happy day.

My driveway guys are here. I almost hugged them when they pulled up. Sono, it's true, contractors can pick and choose the work, eveybody's got waiting lists, and its THEIR time that's important. Well...I think I'll go out for a while and ignore the mess now that they're starting. And DH got a gentle reminder that this is my VACATION! He promised to take on the next project himself, or at least participate more. I think the image of Ruth and LindaBC in their metal bras, swinging chicken purses strengthened me enough that he couldn't avoid facing the music!

Dietwise, everything is the same. Eating fairly well, but holding at only 4 lbs off in a month. I did some yard stuff, toting 12 buckets of mulch from the stump we had removed and spreading it around the shrubs. I was sweating like crazy, and felt it in my arms. I am planning a light dinner and a perfect day today and praying for 1 lb more tomorrow, my weigh-in.

b-artichoke quiche
l-cheeseburger, no bun
s-celery, cashews
d- (edited after dinner) grilled chicken and salad
desert- sf vanilla pudding

that's all, I'm off to Bj's with DS for veggies and stuff. see ya's later.

Good Friday Morning to all!

we have a 3 day weekend for the U.S. Memorial Day holiday. yea! I have some little projects(take the wallpaper off in the bathroom) and other than that, relax! Today was my weigh-in day, I didn't loose anything. I have been 6 days at exactly the same weight. Ugh. But I feel sort of puffy this morning, maybe I didn't drink enough yesterday, plus I worked very hard and my muscles are sore...maybe it'll move soon!

how is everyone else? Ruth, did you get your monologues done? Linda, the pruning is hard- everything here is mauture and pruing is a lot of work- small hacksaw needed. And your chicken caccitore sounds good, it's rainy and cool today, I might make it tonight.

Hi Leens, have fun with your barbecue. You never know who'll show up
Hi Sono, you have the babies this weekend, right? have fun but don't get exhausted!
Kel- how was graduation? (speaking of exhausted lol) Is school over there? We still have a couple of weeks to go in NY>

That's it for me.

b- artichoke quiche
s-cheese and celery
l-leftover cabbage and beef
s- dk
d-chicken caccitore(w/ mushrooms, peppers, onions, celery, baby carrots)

have a good one!

A pina Colada? was that on Dottie's food list and I missed it? lol

One down, one to go! Melissa's graduation last evening was wonderful. Everyone (family and a set of good neighbors) came over to the house afterwards (the boys called it the 'after party') and she showed everyone her artwork, we all talked, she opened presents and we had dessert and sparkling cider. (my mom made banana cream pie and choconut cream pie and I did angelfood cake and strawberries - whip cream on all, of course!) Then everyone left and the kids and I need to unwind so we sat an talked until after midnight ('the after-after party') Cody hit the sack before us since he was concerned about getting enough sleep to do his 8th grade graduation cerimony this morning. So everyone will meet up at the high school football stadium @ 8:30 and cheer him on. Then we will go out to eat (should be interesting as stbx will be there - I'm seating Melis and he at opposite ends of the table) THEN I think the family (or at least their aunt and grandmother) will take the kids for mini-golf. (I was invited also but I am passing - I think a house pick-up and a nap are on the docket for me!)

Enjoy your BBQ, Leens! And had an extra sleep in for me - I've gotta go to early ball games Saturday and Sunday so don't get to.

Dottie - you probably are just retaining some water this morning. I will send whoosh vibes your way. Get some rest this weekend.

Hi, Sono! Give those grandbabies a squeeze from me.

Hey, Linda - think we could make any of those good recipes you spied LC? Sometimes you can do that by just making a few subs.

*wave* to everyone else. I guess our Jiff is a media star this morning. Think she will still associate with us?????

Have a good day and weekend, if I don't get back here.

Oh, I'm such a good girl! (patting self on back) I went to the pool again this morning and put in a good 45 minutes deep water jogging. That's twice this week. No more excuses!

Kel, that Chicken recipe is quite low in carbs. The recipe has nutritional info but it includes a cup of pasta so I can't tell you how many carbs. I bet it's not more than 4 or 5 though.

Today I'm going out to lunch with a friend I haven't seen for a while. I do hope I can find something OP on the menu. Then I have to try to find some summer pants. I need elastic waists and they are hard to find unless you buy those awful polyester pants. I like cotton. I went to a large women's store the other day and couldn't find a single pair of pants or shorts with full elastic waists. Now I can put on a pair of pants with solid waist and zipper and it will be okay as long as I don't sit down. Once I do, all **** breaks loose including seams, buttons and zippers. I do know that I can't get through the summer with just one pair of black cotton pants and one pair of stretch blue jeans.
