Hey all, just popping in - I didn't get in at all yesterday! I did scan through the day though - it's so hard to catch up on everything because we're such avid posters in this group!

Nicely put into words, Tummy!

Hi Froufy, even if you can't post. I should check out that restaurant that you ate at! I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. She sounds like she would have been a fascinating person to talk to, with some amazing, yet sad, stories. When I was travelling in Germany I had a chance to visit Dachau, a concentration camp near Munich. I took one picture. After that, it just didn't feel appropriate and I put my camera away. It was an astounding place to visit, and I'm really glad I went, but it is very, very sad and moving. You can't help but be affected visiting a place like that.

Thanks, Shimma! I wish more people would do that! (hint, hint!)
Oh Star....

There was a clip on the news yesterday regarding Atkins and it really angered me. First, it kept referring to Atkins being the diet of meat (not once did they mention the loads of vegetables that you are supposed to eat even during the strictest phase of Atkins - do your research news station!!). Then, they kept saying that they had concerns about people being able to lose weight, but not being able to keep it off with the Atkins diet ... um ... like that *isn't* a concern for any other eating plan?? *rolls eyes* (That's got to be one of the lamest defences ever) None of their arguments seemed very unbiased and it bothers me when they kept throwing words like 'scientifically' into statements that are full of bias and opinion. Their science is apparently different than mine.

It amazes me how people are so actively attacking Atkins and other low carb plans ... it's like they're jealous of the the 'new kid on the previously low-fat block.' I say be happy with what works for you!

Later!

Tummy--Thanks for that great kick in the pants!!! I really needed a wake up call and your words surely did that. I've got to admit I WAS seriously wondering if I could keep up with this WOE. But after thinking about it--the scale hasn't moved but the tape measurer has so what am I complaining about right? I think this all came at the perfect time--and I'm sure I'll need reminders again (and again and again).

I've noticed that low-carb (and Atkins specifically) has been getting attacked all over the place. I've read about "low-carb" diets in Readers Digest where they say women are now getting more kidney stones because of it. And of course there's the local newspapers. And now tv. It's like because restaurants and fast food joints are now recognizing that people are eating healthier and growing accordingly the health people are trying to save face after years of saying carbs were "da bomb" in health choices by putting as much controversy as possible about it. Pretty stupid if you ask me. They should just bite their carbs and realise that there are other options out there for people and not EVERYONE is made the same. Some can handle and metabolise carbs and others can't.

Ok, at lunch today I took a trip to my favorite scrapbook supply store! It is madness I tell you, madness. I must stop. I could stay in that place forever and just keep buying paper and whatever else that's new.
I wonder if they have a 12 step program for scrapbookers.

lady_adnerb: You'll do great I know you will. I have been thinking about doing induction again also but I don't think I can part with my peanuts

Lekker: I too am getting sick of all the hype. It sometimes makes me question what I am doing but then I remember that I really am not eating any differently than before except no bread, pasta or potato. Big deal. I am hoping that this will all die down.

StarPrincess: I have been trying to load a picture of myself for a while now...I can't seem to get it sized right. Do you know how?

Jane - I use Paint. Click on 'Image' and then 'attributes' and you can pick the size. Be careful, though! This crops the image. It doesn't shrink it. If you want to shrink it, use 'image' and then 'stretch/skew'. You can pick a percentage. (like 80% of height and width will make it 20% smaller). Then you can use that 'attributes' option to check the size. Did that make any sense?

Yeah, Brenda!!!!

Lekker - I'm pissed off, too! I think there's a load of bad information (think "Atkins is just meat and cheese") which leads to people who have not done their homework making very bad choices, which leads to them getting sick/injured, which leads to bad reports. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

And I want more pictures in profiles!!!!!

ok, I've tried and tried and tried...I just can't get the picture to load. I am going to do a new scan and maybe size it then and see what happens.

TG - How was work? If you click on a person's name, you can see their profile. To change yours, click on the 'user CP' that you see at the top of the page in the purple bar in white writing. It will take you to your Control Panel. On the left hand side is a menu where you can edit your profile

HI Star...work was good although it was one of those days when you feel like you got nothing done. I am trying to get a good picture of myself for the bio and the progress pic thread, I had DS taking a picture of me and all he got in the pic was my boobs !!! Although they looked OK I will refrain from posting the picture. I will have DH do it ASAP so you all can see me!! (don't worry the girls were covered by clothing so it wasn't to exciting! )

I am starving today!!! Although I have staying OT I just am starving! I must be craving sugar too beacuse all I want is melted cheese...that usually happens now when my body craves sugar it turns into melted cheese heaven, it is the only way to stop the sugar lust!!
