Awwwwweee! Tina, thanks for the kind words! You just made me feel wonderful.
So I have been MIA for about 48 hours. It's just been one of those weeks here at work. But it's Friday and my bad mood seems to have melted away. I am down one pound this week. Less than I had hoped for but I'll take it anyway. You have all been so busy, I wouldn't even know where to start with replies. I wanted to make an appearance before I missed another whole thread.
I am going to attempt getting into chat on Saturday night again because it was so much fun last week. I'll check back with you girls later!
I wanted to pop in here to let you guys know I had my surgery and I am feeling better. I still have some discomfort from the surgery, but I do not have the pain from **** that I was experiencing before. To update, I had to have an anal fissurectomy and a sphincterotomy, which in plain english means I tore my a$$hole asunder straining on the toilet and so the tear in the anus had to be cut out and the sphincter muscle had to be cut to try to relieve the spasms I was having from the inflammation I have been on stool softeners and mineral oil the past week as well as Metamucil and hot sitz baths. I hope this damn muscle learns to relax because I still have pain when I - well to be polite - have a "boom boom". But it's not the same kind of pain, more like discomfort like you have with a pulled muscle (?). Anyway, I am off work this week and today I am sitting in one of the wooden library chairs and it doesn't hurt. I have been at home, haven't tried to go shopping or anything. I have been using this time as an excuse to eat things I shouldn't, but I know this has to stop!
I want to thank all of you for thinking about me this past week, here are some balloons for you all
Disappointing news to report - management where I work has bitten our butts over using the internet during work hours and they may start denying internet access to the employees. So that means I will only be able to get in here maybe once or twice a week at the library . Yes, I am one of the guilty parties using the net while at work. I'm just not ready to purchase and set up a home computer right now.
I have to get off here now; my time is up. I will try to get back in here next week.
I've been wanting to post for such a long time but I haven't even found the time to keep up with reading the threads, I had to go back and see what Tina said in the last thread, because it seemed to touch pretty much everyone. And I'm glad I did, thanks for remembering me to.
I wish I could be regular again, but with training a new girl and learning a new position I haven't had any free time at work. And don't have a computer at home.
Trainings been going good, my head is literally foggy by the end of the day, I can't put two words together properly, I think I need some ginseng or ginko or whatever herb it is that helps the brain. I'm learning alot of stuff, cost tracking and sales reports, and invoicing, it will definetly improve my resume.
My son turned 6 on wednesday, and were going to have a party for him tomorrow. I hope being 6 is better than being 5, he has such an attitude. But I still love him. No hockey this year for him, I don't have the time to get to practises and games, so I think he may take Tae kwon do (sp). Maybe they can teach him some control.
The diet doesn't exist, I'm lucky so far that I haven't gained any weight back, but If I don't get my act together before I know it I will 50lbs or more heavier again. Oh why do I have to be cursed with love of food.
I just want to drop a line and say Hi, I may not be around much but I do try to read every now and then, I do need you guys to keep me in track and as soon as things settle down, I'll be back full force.
Evening all we are watching the DR. Phil special on NBC.
DH and I went into the city today and tried a new resturant. It was wonderful I did pretty good that was lunch and dinner together.
Ceaser salad
rice pilaf
steamed veggies
seafood cake(crab, shrimp, and Scallops chopped and made into a little cake and lightly fried)
us tea
It was wonderful
Then DH and I shared a dessert
Key Lime filling with graham cracker crumbs and cool whip layered in a goblet. Yummy
coffee
I just ate a few grapes so that is it for me today.
Hi Ladies ---
This is farewell --- for a week! We are heading down to FL early tomorrow morning and will return on the 20th. It's doubtful that I will be near a computer all week. My laptop is staying here so I can completely forget about work! However, if I do end up at one I will stop in to say hi!
Wishing you all a wonderful, fun, happy and healthy weekend and week next week!
Guess what! I got a call from the editor of that magazine about doing the catering articles! Wahoo! The direction she wants to go is a lot different than I thought, but it should be a good challenge. Oh yeah, and I'll actually get paid! I have some interviews to get done fast and then get to writing. 1500 words due in three weeks. Yikes! I'm pretty excited, though. The second article is due mid November. Wish me luck!
I was also excited to get on the scale at Curves. I'm still maintaining! That means it is probably time to get myself back on the diet. The budget is really tight right now, so I have to figure out if I can do it or have to modify the plan somewhat. Either way, I was so excited to see a maintain. Anyone have good, really inexpensive ideas for low carb meals? Fortunately veggies are still cheap and abundant this time of year. Maybe we'll eat a ton of stir fry's and salads.
Connie, I am so happy to hear you are feeling better! You must have been in such agony. I know it isn't all over yet, but to be on the mend sounds like a huge blessing for you.
Barb, fairly sure you won't be reading this, you vacationing woman, but wanted to congratulate you on the latest loss! Another pound gone forever!!!
MissMeliss, I've been working out at Curves (made my 3 this week!) and walking about every other evening. The more I do, the more active I become. Isn't it weird how that works?
Mary, you had my mouth watering with that menu! Sounds like the two of you had a good time.
Duckie, busy, busy, busy sounds like the story of you life, girl! Thanks for stopping in and letting us know how you are doing. I'm glad you are still maintaining!
Natalie, funny how that grumpy feeling slides away late Friday afternoon, isn't it.
Amanda, good to see you! I've been missing one of the few other Western chicks here. And I love the new pic!
Tina, the timing of eating and exercising is always being tossed around by the experts, it seems. From what I can gather, it depends a lot on your body. If you can stand to work out without food in your system, your body is supposed to get to fat burning a little sooner. Or something like that (I'm not one of the experts!) But for many of us, I think we end up feeling better if we at least have a little nibble of something so our blood sugar levels remain consistent. Personally, I can't stand to work out with weights and such on a full stomach. It just leaves me feeling urpy. I do remember a bit I read last year about not gaining over the holidays, and it suggested getting in a walk or something right before the big meals begin, because that way your metabolism is already revved up and kicks in even higher with the food intake. Who knows. I think you do what feels good for your body and it will be the right decision for you.
2cute, 78 degrees! No wonder you FROZE! I tried to catch up with my instructor friend today, but she teaches dance all day on Friday.
Pam, glad to see you. Your posts are always so thoughtful.
J-ann, grats to you for 4 days OP! Staying out of the snack foods is about the toughest thing for me. I'm impressed!
Ok, I know there are plenty more people to reply to, but these are all that show on my page right now! I'm going to wrap up things around here and hit the sack. Tomorrow morning I'm up early to go to a food festival with a friend. Yes, I said food festival. The Smithsonian has a display about Americans and their food in one of the towns near here, and there is a festival going on along with it. My friend is working on an article about food lore, and she thought some company would be a fine thing. I rarely get to spend time with her, so it should be fun as long as I don't do too much sampling!
Amanda... I LOVE your new photo.!!!!
I was going to have a garage sale this weekend... but between my knee injury and rain forcasted the entire weekend .. I am not going to get it done. Next two weekends we will be on vacation. That takes me to Oct 3-4. Cross your fingers for me.
Your question falls into the same catergory of which came first... the chicken or the egg. I have heard both. I would eat something light if hungry before exercise... OR .. eat something light after exercising. Glad I could be of some help.
If you follow in your sons examples... you won't be eating or exercising.
Melissa.. congrats on the exercising.
If you want to get more protein in without a lot of calories or fat... eat a few hard boiled egg "WHITES". Pure protein. The yolks are the evil part.
Barb ... enjoy your trip. I have never left my baby (dog) at a kennel before. He sleeps with us and doesn't know he is a dog. LOL It is going to break my heart to board him next week. In our old house we had a doggie door and fenced yard. This house doesn't. We could leave him home and have neighbors and family come play with him daily.
Natalie... good to see you back again. I am happy your bad week is finally over. Enjoy chat Sat night.
Connie... glad your surgery went well and you're on your way back to normal soon.
Sorry to hear about the cut back on internet use at work. I find computers cheap all the time nowadays at garage sales and goodwill stores and such. Especially if you don't need a fancy one. But you would still need to pay for the internet service itself.
Duckie... sooo good to see you again.
I need to find you and Connie a computer for home. I miss you.
I think it is a good idea to enroll your son into martial arts. They focus on self discipline.
Mary... I watched that Dr Phil special tonight too.
Didn't really learn anything new... but hopefully it sunk in tonight.
Andria... CONGRATS on getting those articles !!!! You do an excellent job and I always enjoy reading them.
I have my daughter home this weekend.. but remind me next week for some ideas for good low carb meals. I am not a great cook... but I do eat. LOL I love stir fry. I am making a low carb lasagna this weekend... I will try to remember to post the recipe. BUT basicly.... just make your favorite recipe and leave out the noodles. I know a lot of people substitue sliced zuccinii for the noodles. I usually just leave them out and enjoy the rest.
Wow ... this replying to everyone is time consuming.
I have to read everything 2-3 times.
Okay.. gotta go. DD is home and we hope to get a lot accomplished tomorrow. I still have not bought my hubby or other daughter any birthday gifts yet. I am running out of time.
WHAT DAY IS IT?? WHAT TIME IS IT??? WHAT IS MY NAME??? WORKED LAST NIGHT TILL 9P, AND HAVE TO BE BACK THERE AT 6:30 THIS AM... I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLEEPY!!
Can't stay and chat, gotta get ready, just wanted to wish you all a good day. Check in with you later
Hello Friends
I haven't been here cause I've been to busy visiting the bathroom And this was not fun.
I think I had some kind of stomach flu or food poisoning. My daughter and husband also were sick, plus we had cold symptoms so we were not a happy household.
But things seem a lot better today. So I hope to get in a 1 mile walk either this morning or this evening. Also I am way behind in homework for school.
Not much else to tell but I'll be back later to check on you all.
Its rainy and gloomy here today. Makes it hard to get up and be motivated. But I've got lots of housework and paperwork I want to get tackled this weekend. It feels like i have done nothing but study for the last 3-4 weeks. I passed my test yesterday so I'm done with that program. Thank goodness its done online and we get to see if we passed or failed right then although I did have to read it twice to make sure it did indeed say "pass". It was a tough test so I'm doubly glad not to have to prepare for that again! Now on to housecleaning and exercise and magazine reading and book reading and sitting on the couch playing on the internet...anything but reading a textbook!
Its good to see everyone posting. Did anyone tape the Dr. Phil show last night? I was so mad to see Mary's post about watching it because I had wanted to tape it since we were meeting family out for dinner last night. Of course, we got home right at 9 pm and saw that I missed it.
Well, I'm rambling about nothing much. Just wanted to wish everyone lots of : for staying on track this weekend and sticking towards your goals.
Oh, how I love a rainy day! I can get to all the stuff that needs to be done inside, with no guilt for "wasting" a beautiful day!
I hope that I can get a bide ride in later...I have missed the last two days...I did mow the lawn yesterday, but that's all the exercise that I had time for. Dh and I went out to dinner at Friday's last night. OOH! I have my dining out companion to check my points! BRB...
HEY! No TGIFriday's listed??? They list Schlotzky's Deli and Pickerman's Soups and Sandwiches, (no offense to those who have these in their part of the world) but no FRIDAY'S???
Okay, rant over...here's what i had...a LARGE margarita, Caesar salad, dressing on the side (less than 2T) 1/2 breadstick, 1/2 of my jack Daniel's Sirloin, 1/2 of dh's Jack Daniel's Salmon, 1/2 the innards of a baked potato, and sauteed veggies...I'm not even going to attempt to calculate the points, but I will say that's all that I had all day! Gotta be REAL good today...tomorrow is WI (not Wisconsin!) More water....glub glub...
2cute, I hope your knee is feeling better!
Barb, have a great trip!
Connie, glad to see you back, hope you're feeling better, too!
Tracy, Welcome back!
Steph, Wow, 10,000 steps...!
Michelle, happy BD to Andrew! How's WW for you?
Ducky, good to see you're still with us!
Pam, hang in there!
Terri, great job on the test!
Joe anne, I'm glad you're feeling better!
Mary, mmmm--Key Lime Pie, my favorite!
Andria...great news about your writing!
Natalie, good job, a lb off is nothing to sneeze at...it's GONE!
That's everyone on this thread...I hope...Hi to everyone else.
I must now go forth and be productive...I hope to be at chat tonight.
Have a great day...

Now that you've mentioned it 2cute, I am following in my sons examples. I feel like death. My whole body aches...I'm chilling all over and am VERY sick at my stomach. The vomitting hasn't started yet, but others things have.
Tina << running to the bathroom like a fool.
I won't be back later tonight because the minute I get home (I'm at work now) I'm going to bed to lay there and die.
Well, I'm sure I won't get to lay for long.... but I'll be in the bed anyways.
