Try taking calcium supplements at night, about 30 minutes before you go to sleep, first it is supposed to absorb better because your body is supposed to be in "absorption" mode. Also, it is supposed to help you sleep like having a glass of milk.....it helps me.

Of course you shouldn't do this all the time, but if you've got a really bad case of insomnia you can take a Benadryl (not the non-drowsy kind, of course). A friend of mine asked her doctor for a sleeping pill for a flight to Australia, and the doc said just take Benadryl and it will work just as well. It works well for me--in half an hour or so I fall asleep and I never have a "hangover" in the morning.

If you will check most of the "LOW-CAL" store sites such as Syenergy, etc you will see that the make and sell LOW CARB MARGERITTA MIX, and also several other low carb drink mixes. I take that to mean that the alchol is not the worst part of the mixed drinks. (and yest I've tried it, and you can't tell it from a "regular" one!)

I love the great ideas! Had a good night's sleep last night for the first time in several days. Maybe just talking about my concern was enough to get it off my mind.

I will try the Calms Forte and Calcium ideas. Thanks so much everyone!

yikes...I am not a big drinker, wine...ick!!! I love love love kahlua and the rest of the creamy put them right to my fat tummy region. So I am now trying to figure out the LEAST fattening drinks. I did the rum and diet coke the last time I went out (beforeSBD) and it was less than enjoyable. FIgure I might as well just drink the diet coke.
Any other suggestions?

As far as suggestions go, let's see.....

I used to drink Rum and Coke but I don't like any kind of diet pop so now I drink flavored Vodka and soda water. I like Mandarin Absolute the best but there are all kinds of flavors like Raspberry, Mixed Berry, Citrus, etc. I also like Margaritas so I have had Tequila and the low sugar/carb Mix and it's good too. I have also been known to have V-8 or tomato juice and vodka.

I like wine too so I will have that some nights with dinner.

Good luck! :-)

My one and only drink that I really like is Sangria. But have figured that it must be off limits, especially for Phase 1 since it has fruit juice in it. Any opinions out there? I used to drink other combinations, like manhattans or martinies or tom collins, to be sociable, never liking any of them. So a long time ago decided that I could be just as sociable with a glass of club soda with lime.
If I can't go to sleep, I take a tylenol p.m. Works for me.

Lizzie,
Not only does Sangria have fruit juice, but most also contain sugar, that is why it is soososoosoo good!

I stick with red wine for now, and martini's when I really need a stiff drink.

RB. That's why I haven't indulged in a long time. But my birthday is coming up next week and I am going to have one glass anyway for a celebration. Lizzie

From a purely social aspect, I find that either Miller Lite or Michelob Ultra works for me - that way, I feel like I can still "socialize" (although there are several times when I go out with friends and do not drink) but still manage to stay within my limits. I try to never have more than 3 drinks per weekend, though (much cheaper on the pocketbook, too!)

I enjoy Michelob Ultra, as well. I slip it every so slowly and it ususally does the trick. Then I switch to water for the rest of the evening. I like one or two per weekend.
