Good morning everyone. Very, very humid here this morning. Jack took out the trash to the corner of the garage and came back in sweating. He said it is already miserable outside. Such is Memphis, I guess. We are expecting rain for several days so we shall see.

Going to try and tackle the downstairs today. Seems like there is always something that needs cleaning or straightening or putting away or whatever.

Maggie: Glad you like your watch. I quit wearing one quite awhile ago.

Jean: Glad you found Andy a home. Ian sure seems to love sports. The only thing Thomas has ever been interested in long term is running and the biking and the boy does love to do those two things. Well, he does hiking and stuff with boy scouts of course, but running and biking are the only things he does that are organized. He played one year of soccer when he was 5, but that was it. Jackson plays soccer, but he's lazy so I don't know how much longer that will last. He has good mechanics, he's just lazy. He went to basketball camp and Jay said he liked that a lot. Heaven knows how much they spent in camps this year. He has been going to a different one every week. This week they are in Michigan on vacation. Let's see Tom is 6'1", Jack is 6'2" and my son is 6'4." So, Thomas comes by his height more than likely through Jack's family as Tom's dad is pretty short and none of my family is exceptionally tall. Jack's grandfather on his mom's side was something like 6'6."

You all have a great day. I have my final surgeon's apt tomorrow then I imagine he will sign off on me.

Good morning, ladies! Heading for the 90s again today.

I think I'm finally feeling better. It's been a long time coming. We've had a lot of storms, one almost every day, and the barometric pressure bothers my breathing when it drops below 30 but my energy is back so I'm cleaning my dirty house. Time for another round of stuff to go to the thrift store. I can't believe how much is still here after all I've given. I'm down to kitchen stuff and books so that is good.

I saw the WW leader I used to work with when I was a weigher and she told me she wants me to come back to WW so I can work for them again. I think I'll do it for I'm below my goal weight and I enjoyed seeing the people.

Faye, Thomas is one good looking boy! Congratulations on the weight loss! The more you lose the better your knees will feel.

Jean, I used to think people who said they couldn't drink coffee after noon were nuts. Now I've joined that club.

Maggie, my Garmin VivoFit is also a watch and calendar and I wear it 24/7 for it is waterproof. Do you still go to see the buffalo?

Have a wonderful day.

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and it is a humid 73 degrees. It was cloudy and cool this morning with a few raindrops falling. Crazy weather! I made a WM run after lunch and should have gone this morning! Stupid people leave their carts where you can't get around them or plug up the aisles yakking on cell phones. Unsupervised kids running up and down the aisles makes me grumpy too. Oh well . . Tomorrow is another day. Beth went to a WM the other night to pick up a few things and her debit card was refused. She asked the checker to try it as a credit card and it was refused again. The manager tried it on another register and it was refused again. So she goes home to check her bank account. She had just made a deposit so she knew exactly what the balance was. There were two WM charges for over $200 each, at stores hours away from where she lives. Next she contacted her banks stolen card/fraud department. She had her card so it wasn't stolen, and the rep told her they have had trouble with WM much like the Target situation. The next day she went to the bank and they gave her a new debit card. It will take two weeks for her to get her money back in her account, not sure why it takes that long. Makes me nervous because I do use my debit card at WM.

Maggie, I would appreciate the date on my watch. Since I don't have to write the date multiple times a day any more, I never know what the date is for sure.

"Gma," Andy's new mom sent me a picture or him hiding behind a little Christmas tree. He probably thinks his world has been turned upside down and no flower garden to hide in. Unfortunately, Ian's heart belongs to football just like his dad. I say lots of prayers that he doesn't get hurt. With a 6'6" grandfather, and 6'+ parents I don't think he will be done growing for awhile. You are right, something always needs cleaning of some sort.

Susan, I'm glad you are feeling better again! You would definitely be a positive inspiration for WW members. I have had caffeine later in the day and it's never bothered me, but every once in awhile I seem to react to it. I'm not even sure what all is in the McD drink except chocolate syrup on the top.

I have groceries to put away so had better get to it. Bob has a meeting with the city fathers and Habitat for Humanity group at 5. They want to put a house on a lot where it won't fit -- free house from the hospitals building project. Bob is the "grand poopah" on the Board of Adjustment. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Good morning to you gals. Going to be hot today and hopefully we won't have any rain as I have a dr apt this morning with my surgeon. Hopefully it will be my last and he will release me.

Susan: Glad to see you are finally about to get around and get things back to normal for yourself. Good luck with going back to WW and helping everyone. Seems like the stuff just reappears to me. I have cleaned out stuff and just end up getting more. I decided awhile back to pay attention to what I buy and don't get it if I think I am not going to use it. I have small appliances that I have rarely used and have no idea why I bought the things in the first place. I have a small ice cream maker I have only used once and a sandwich press I have only used once. I have also bought things and used them and found I didn't like them for one reason or another too.

Jean: Luckily, since I hate coffee I do not have the caffeine issue. I drink CF stuff at home and though you can't get it at restaurants and such, I don't really have that much away from home. Wow, so sorry about Beth's situation. I have to say, our bank gives you the money back right away. They call it a provisional credit. You can spend the money, but if they find that you are responsible, then they deduct it back from your account. I have had to have my debit card replaced numerous times, actually. Luckily, I check my bank account everyday so rarely does it ever get past the authorization stage so that I can alert the bank. Of course, the bank has to pay it, they can't stop it, but they are johnny on the spot to give you your money back. One thing our bank does is if there is more than one person on the account, ie a debit card or your credit card, you both have different numbers on the card for the same account. So, if for example what happened to Beth, happened to me, they don't have to replace both cards, just the one whose number was involved in the fraud. That way, your account is still available to use and they aren't constantly issuing duplicate cards. We have been with our credit union since 1970 and wouldn't go anywhere else. Hopefully, they can get her money back to her sooner than they said. I had to laugh at trying to put a house on a lot that isn't big enough. Sort of like putting size 9 feet in size 6 shoes.

Everyone have a great day. I have to get going and get ready so I can take Jack to work this morning.

Good Morning! The sun is shining but it's a cool 65 degrees. I made a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up the remaining fresh items on my weekend food list. Now I need to decide which I can make today and then finish the rest tomorrow. I want to double an egg casserole but not sure if I should make two separate pans or dump it all into a larger pan.

"Gma," hope all went well with your surgeon's appointment. This morning at the grocery store a lady wrote a check. She had to show her ID then the checker put it in the register, and finally punched in a bunch of numbers from the check before she slid it in the locked drawer. After the lady left I asked if they had that same routine with every check and she said yes because they've had so many bad checks. Bob won't use a debit card and really prefers to carry cash. I keep telling him that someone might see what he has in his billfold and bop him over the head to get it. The house deal went back to the city council to work on, the lot will work if they take the garage off and put it behind the house, which doesn't comply with the city code.

I need to vacuum and dream up something for lunch, no leftovers for today since we ate them yesterday. Hope you all are enjoying a terrific Thursday!

Talking Thursday & a Very Nice Warm Day

GOOD MORNING IN JULY MAGNOLIAS
☺♫

It is a beautiful day here in the ♥-Land. Will has gone to the museum and I am home alone with a dog and a cat who are both snoozing.

We have the MH at the place where they do great work on them. They replaced all of the water pipes, which are made of some plastic substance, with a much better grade than he took out. He showed Will the old ones that he took out which were in a varying shade of decay and leaky. That is great now ~ no leaks and better pipes. He checked the shocks and they don’t need replacing now, which saved us a few bucks. We had him check out the whole rig to make sure everything was working properly and that the turn signals will signal, the brake lights will come on and the inside lights will shed light on us. The toilet will flush and the shower will shower and the gas line to the stove is in good order. We are relieved that the shocks are fine for we were hoping that they worked properly once we get the thing loaded and they are rather spendy and we didn’t need that extra expense at this time. All the stuff he did on it cost what we had budgeted.

JEAN Put it all in a larger pan is my thoughts on the matter.

DONNA FAYE What a nice thing if your Doc is satisfied with you and releases you. BTW ~ Are you doing 2 drinks of your mix a day and chew the third meal on your reduction program?

Good morning to you all. I hear thunder this morning so we doubtlessly are going to get some rain. Of course we wanted to work on getting that glass cleaned up. Ahh well, there's always tomorrow. We don't do anything on the 4th (either today or tomorrow) because frankly we don't think it is safe here to go to fireworks unless it is at the ballpark and we are going to the ballpark to see the Iowa Cubs play here on the 25th.

I succumbed to temptation and bought two leather handbags on clearance the other day and looks like they have shipped and I bought a tunic cotton long sleeved shirt from a veterans organization that sells stuff to feed homeless veterans and looks like it has shipped. Jack got his "swim" tshirts from Lands End yesterday and they fit perfect so on the cruise when he wants to go snorkeling he can wear these underwater as they are made for that sort of thing and not get sunburned on his back. They had a 4th of July sale and I got about half off on them.

Dr wheat has released me so no more surgeon appointments. I have to go back to my regular doctor and then the gyno in September. I am going to wait until I see my regular doctor before I make an appointment with the gynecologist. He won't can't do anything anyway other than probe around.

Jean: I don't like carrying a lot of cash, not in this city. They would shoot first and rip you off. We wouldn't just get bopped in the head! The one thing I do is we carry cash when we go on excursions on our cruises. I figure if someone robs us all they get is the cash and if you use your credit cards in a foreign country, not only is it expensive, it is a great way to get your identity stolen. So, we just take cash. I never write checks around town anymore. I understand it, but there is too much rigamarole to it. I wish they would put the chips on debit cards that have the ability to use as credit cards. Walmart is actually one of the first places to use the chip readers on credit cards. We noticed a lot of places have them on their machines, but whenever we want to use it, they say they aren't connected yet. Why the heck not? The purpose is to protect you.

Maggie: I only have the meal replacement for breakfast and only during the weekdays. On weekends, I eat breakfast. Hope work goes well for the MH.

Everyone, hopefully you have a great holiday if you are celebrating today. BTW, most banks will be closed both today and tomorrow. I don't know about postal delivery whether it will be both days or just today or whatever.

Talking Finally Friendly Friday

GOOD MORNING IN JULY MAGNOLIAS
☺♫

It is fixin’ to be a beautiful day here in the ♥-Land. We are to go out to dinner this evening with some big “name” from the state that is visiting around here. Will is currently making a belt for him to go with the holster he had made for him earlier. He had Will get permission from the current owner of some land that his people once owned years back when he found out that Will knows that rancher. Some of the old buildings are still standing on part of that property and he wants to visit it today. I have been out there before and opted out of going today.

Nothing much happening around here this day. We could hear lots of fire crackers and such going off up until @ 10pm last evening, In fact folks were celebrating starting the first of this month. They will be back at it tonight heavier because tomorrow is the 4th. We didn’t even get any sparklers this year ~ yet anyway. I like having them when there is snow on the ground and we then put them on the step railing and they look so pretty then. Those huge ones last quite log time. Maybe when Will gets back I can mention to him we can go buy a few to save for winter time.

DONNA FAYE That must be quite a relief that the doctor released you. Now you can get back to your regular schedule.

Good Afternoon! It is a cool sunny day again -- 61 degrees early this morning. Brr! I went early to get my nails done. Others had the same idea but I was first in the door! Stopped at the store for bread and peanutbutter bars, the bars because the kids love them and I am lazy about making them. Bob went up to the cabin to check on a toilet and fix the seat in the fishing boat. He just called to say he and Beth were going fishing. We made the ice cream last night and I need to make my salad, beans, and egg dish this afternoon. A lady from the local paper just called looking for Bob. She wants to do a story on his Oliver tractors promoting the Albert City Threshermen's Show in August. Each year they feature a different brand, and guys bring their old tractors and machinery to display.

Maggie, your motor home will be just like new, except the shocks, when you get it back. It will be nice to know everything will work properly when you hit the road. We have some new families that have moved in a block behind us. We heard firecrackers the other night so assume it was from them. Enjoy your dinner out tonight!

"Gma," I had to smile at you ordering two new handbags. Whenever I see the ads on FB I think of you. I saw the swim shirts ad and took a look. I had never seen them before, but know a couple people who have to wear long sleeves, etc., when out in the sun. It's nice that you are finished with your surgeon. How can you tell if the debit/credit card machine has a chip reader? My debit card also works as a credit card. I saw in the paper there is no mail delivery tomorrow, but will be today. Our banks are open today.

I need to rev up the vacuum and collect fur hunks floating around, then get busy on the food for tomorrow. Have a great rest of the day and enjoy the 4th tomorrow!

Good morning to you all. I thought I heard thunder again earlier this morning, but haven't seen any rain yet. We had tons yesterday though. It would pour down rain for 20 minutes or so then stop then awhile later here it would come again. It did that on and off all day so there are flood warnings everywhere as no only do we have the Mississippi, but we also have the Loosahatchie river and the Nonconnah creek that are coming over flood stage. It's just a mess.

We had some fireworks shooting last night, but I put in my earplugs and listened to an audiobook and fell back asleep so it didn't bother me. It used to scare poor Fortune to death though.

I have to go out to Fresh Market today and get a few produce items and my meat and go to Kroger and get my soda and Jack's ice cream if they have it. People must really like it because a lot of times they don't have any. It is a lower fat vanilla that Kroger makes and I have to say it really is a good ice cream. I don't eat it though. Jack eats a portion in the evenings sometimes and likes to put a portion in a root beer float. We buy IBC diet root beer for that. Tomorrow is commissary day.

Jack has an eye appointment a week from today and is going back to contact lenses so we sat yesterday looking for him some sun glasses. He wanted the kind the baseball players wear, which are Oakleys and we found them, but they were something like $200. I googled the type he wanted and found an online military exchange site and they were a lot cheaper. On top of that I got free shipping, no tax, and found a coupon for 15% off so we got them for $130 total. I told him he needed a pair because his eyes would be really sensitive to light in contacts again. Well, I got an email they are back ordered until the 21st. So much for my good idea.

Maggie: Hope the man enjoys his belt. Are the animals afraid of the sparklers?

Jean: If you look when you go to Walmart, on their key pad for your credit card underneath it is a slot and you slide the card in there for the chip reader. If your Walmart has theirs up and running, you can't use a credit card with a chip the regular way. It will give you a message to feed it in. Like I said, a lot of businesses have the key pad with the slot, but everyone we have tried to use except for Walmart says it is not connected. What fun! I am sure Bob will enjoy seeing his tractors in the paper. We got mail delivery yesterday so I imagine none today. I guess what you get, you get and what you don't you don't. We rarely go into a bank anymore as I can do just about anything on the computer including deposits and such, except a cash deposit of course.

Everyone have a great weekend.

Happy Birthday, America! Only in the 80s today but storms in the forecast.

I got up this morning with my shoulders and ribs hurting, then I remembered I went to the gym yesterday. First time since the Friday before Memorial Day. It felt good. I really miss it when I can't go.

We have lots of this going on today since Yorktown is where Cornwallis surrendered and Jamestown was the first settlement and all that. I hope the rain holds off until late tonight. I'll stay home for traffic is horrendous after the fireworks.

I bought water bottle with an infuser basket and I have watermelon in it this morning. So good!

Faye, on being released by the surgeon. Now if you could just get your female issues cleared up you'd be a new woman. Our Walmart doesn't have the chip reader yet.

Jean, as I understand it, all stores will have to change to the chip technology by October. I have a debit card and a credit card with chip readers.

Maggie, is it getting close to the time when you'll be hitting the road with the motor home? I'd be so excited for its a great way to see the USA.

Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning! We are at the cabin and it's a breezy hazy kind of day. Bob, Beth, and Maddy are out in the little fishing boat. I told Maddy to catch a big one for lunch. None of yesterday's fish were big enough to keep.

"Gma," is it safe to assume the river and creek names date back to when the Indians lived there? Many, many years ago I was at a shower and one of the games was to list all of the Indian names we could think of. Our area has a lot, and I had never given the names a thought. Our WM will most likely be the last to get the chip reading machines. The police are there multiple times a day for shop lifters. One guy was so stupid he cut the security gizmo off a big screen tv and then tried to leave the store with it. I guess there are floor walkers just watching the shoppers. I try not to go there if I can help it but sometimes it is the only choice for what I need.

Susan, I'm glad you felt well enough to go to the gym but sorry for the sore shoulders and ribs. Does your debit card also work as a credit card? I mentioned, to the WM clerk, Beth's bank saying they were having trouble with WM security, and she acted like she didn't get it. Our WM employees are not the brightest bulbs in the box!

Guess I should think about getting meat ready to grill and round up whatever Beth and Amanda have planned. Have a safe and happy 4th!

Good morning to you all. The kids were out past 11 last night shooting off fireworks and I was mainly worried they'd set the garages on fire or the trees. The drives between the garages are actually streets, but are not very wide so they shouldn't be setting them off at all and to tell the truth, they are illegal here. They go to Mississippi to get them, which is only 20 miles or so from here. Forget calling the police.

We have commissary day today and I hope we get through it quick. I did meat and produce shopping yesterday and bought a couple things at Kroger I can't get anywhere else then home for the day.

Susan: We don't go to fireworks here at all unless we are at the ballpark for a game. You are asking to be mugged. Your area of the country has such great historical significance and they have managed to preserves things so well. I always loved going to Williamsburg. I bought a darling dust cap for a newborn when I was pregnant in Williamsburg, but ended up with a boy first. I never knew where it went. Glad you up are and feeling better and able to get back to normal routines.

Jean: We have a lot of indian names for things here, that's for sure. The veil of tears came right through Memphis and very close to where Jack works is an old Indian village called Chucalisa. We took both kids on field trips there and saw a lot of indian relics and such, but it had fallen into disrepair and no one was allowed in it anymore. I know the Memphis University college students at one time were taking care of it, but I don't know if they still are or not. It is inside the state park here.

You all have a good Sunday.

Good morning, ladies! 75 degrees and rising into the high 80s today. At least the rain held off until about 11 pm yesterday so people were able to enjoy it.

I'm going for a walk today up to the pool and see how crowded it is in the afternoon and how many kids are there. I might go there to exercise on the weekends. We have a lovely walking trail through our development that is exactly 1 mile and there are benches along the way so it's ideal for me.

Virginia's Indian tribes have never been recognized so they can't get federal or state benefits. As of July 1, the there is now 1 tribe recognized and hopefully more to come. It's ridiculous since they were here before the settlers. The idiots in power kept saying there was no proof they were native to VA.

I have put off going back to the Y because I've been short of breath with only a little exertion. Today I got an article about COPD and exercise in my email that reminded me exercise helps you to breath better and be less short of breath. I'll be on my regular schedule at the Y starting tomorrow.

Faye, Most of us stay away from Williamsburg and Jamestown in the summer because of all the tourists. You wouldn't believe how much Williamsburg has grown in the 29 years I've been living here. If you don't like the historical stuff, there are huge outlet malls.

Jean, lazy days by a lake are wonderful! Did Maddy catch a big fish?

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning! The wind has died down some and the sun is trying to peek out. The kids, well three of them, slept in a tent last night. Maddy bailed out around midnight. People around the lake were still setting off fireworks until after eleven. They are playing Monopoly out in the tent now, Bob and Beth are fishing, and the rest of us are on phones and iPads.

"Gma," fireworks are illegal in Iowa too, but are brought in from SD and MO. There were a bunch around the lake last night. Lots of money went up in smoke! The stupid legislature spent an excessive amount of time arguing about fireworks, cell phones and texting while driving. The cell phone issue didn't go anywhere. Stupid!

Susan, I'd like to see 80 degrees today! Wishful thinking. I hope you get some pool time in today. Maddy did catch a couple fish, as did Bob and Beth, but none were big enough to keep. I know you will enjoy going back to the Y.

I'm not dressed yet so probably should get moving in that direction. Kids have been eating nonstop so may have to take inventory and make a grocery list. Hope you all enjoy a nice Sunday!
