Oh sure, Mauvais... she turns up her nose at Spam, yet she eats roofing tar. That's an American for you. heh heh heh.
Gawd, that was like, so politically incorrect.

Good going, Den!! Do it again tonight!!

I had a slight mishap after 7:30, I'm afraid. I ate 4 little peppermint patties. Then I found a few tablespoons of stale cheesie twists in my son's bedroom. And then I ate a few of those chocolate whoppers. Okay, about a dozen. But I ate well during the day, and that's still a lot better than I usually do. Going to try again tonight with the 7:30 thingy.

Den I wanted to tell you that I think your idea of mini-steps is great. There was an article about 4-6 months ago and the lady had lost a hundred pounds. She started by just leaving a couple of bites on her plate at every meal, and then moved to just shopping the outer rim of the grocery store. She said it's the little things you do that make a difference.

Chris-Thanks!! I sure hope so, because I have been unable to take BIG steps lately. Tonight I stopped eating at 7:45, because dinner started at 7:20 (poor planning on top of a busy day.) I HATE eating dinner that late because it makes me hyper for hours. The outer rim of my grocery store includes the ice cream aisle, so that can't be one of my tricks!! DH bought coffee ice cream tonight which is GREAT, because I can generally avoid that fllavor.

Ellis-ROOFING TAR!?!?!?!?! I challenge you to a duel you sniveling Canuck!!!
(SEE? I'm a warmonger too!!!) SPAM is the mortar in between bricks, so don't look down on ME for eating construction materials!!!

Hey Den, do you like ice milk? Or frozen yogurt? Because they're a lot less fat/calories than ice-cream. I get this mixed berry frozen yogurt which is pretty good.

NO!! I LOVE plain (preferably homemade) sour yogurt, but I DO NOT like sweetened yogurt, and I REALLY don't like frozen yogurt. Actually, I am not an ice cream FANATIC, I like a bit of ice cream with tons of chocolate in it. Ice Milk? I don't know...I DO like Italian Ices though!!! Generally speaking I'd rather skip the frozen deserts than settle. I think it is the fatty texture on my tongue that I really like. (With lots of chocolate in it) (And not the waxy kind, the kind that melts on your tongue.)

Den- you should try eating geleto -Italian ice cream. It has the consistency of regular ice cream and is lower in fat and calories and it tastes delicious too. I actually prefer it over store bought ice cream. The Italian ices are great too-really refreshing fruity flavors but not as tart as sherbert ice cream. *SIGH* if only it came in Spam flavor

yeah... I'm not actually big on ice cream, either. I always figure it's better than eating a bag of bridge mixture, though.

Yeah, well what can I say

I treated myself to a new weight watchers cookbook yesterday

It is called "Takeout Tonight" It is full off lower calorie and lower fat recipes for homemade versions of typical take out food ie: Chinese food, pizza, Italian, even Greek food!

I have decided to do WW again since it worked well the first time around (until I stopped going ). Two of my friends are on it so we can be diet buddies and support for each other. One of my friends and I are emailing each other our food journals at work to help each other stay OP, the accountability factor has stopped both of us from cheating a couple of times

Mauvais-I have actually tried it once (hazelnut flavor) and I liked it too!! Added bonus: the rest of the family DIDN'T like it, so it would be MINE ALL MINE!!!!! Would be better with huge chunks of chocolate in it though!!!
About the SPAM flavored Ice......YUCK!!! Marmite Granita is SO much more sophisticated!!! I like Lemon ice; nice and tart (I like sour things) Have you ever tried Limoncella? An Italian friend gave DH a bottle for his birthday.
You store it in the freezer, and pour yourself a little glass of it icey cold. Pretty good!!! (DH loved it.) My hubby is 1/4 Italian, 1/4 Norwegian and 1/2 mixed European heritage (Mostly British and French) I describe him as PASSIONATELY DEPRESSED. He is Mr. Skinny, but will eat like a pig when I feed him Italian food!!!! I was surprised he didn't like the gelato, since the man can eat Italian food like you wouldn't believe. I feed him a bowl of 50 calorie soup and he says he is full, but I have seen him eat 2 HUGE plates of pasta with cheese and meatballs, salad, garlic bread, and STILL eat a cannoli!!! Once I even told him to order 2 since I wasn't going to have one, and he DID IT!!!

Ellis-You know, you keep on calling Marmite roofing tar, but you are eating Bridge mix?!? Don't the cables get stuck in between your teeth? Which bridge? Ambassador or Blue Water? (But seriously, every time I see it at the store now I think I should buy some to see if I like it. Except that I am afraid I WILL!!!)

Den- my favorite gelato flavors are Bourbon vanilla, tiramisu and the coffee one. Pistachio is good too. I also like the lemon ice and the raspberry ice, I like tart tastes too. Which explains why I don't care for girly drinks but will have a crantini or a sour margarita

I have not tried the lemocella yet, though I have seen it in the liquour store, it seems a little pricey but I may try it this summer

Ok - I am going to try 3 mini things this week. I am not trying to over do it, they are things I used to do.

1. Make sure I take my vitamins & pills everyday.

2. Start drinking my flavored water stuff again. At least 1/2 a liter a day - working up to at least 1 liter a day, which will probably be my mini goal for next week.

3. I am also going to try and not eat after 8pm. I had been doing well, but lately I haven't.
