what works for me is still having sugar in my diet. if i cut it out completely i feel deprived. daily i will make sure i have at least 200 calories worth of sugary snacks. but instead of cookies or something i'll go for healthier sugary snacks like fiber one bars, protein bars, frozen yogurts, etc. and as long as otherwise i'm eating healthy i don't feel guilty about it.

To get rid of sugar, I replaced it with higher-quality chocolate and carob teas. I just keep drinking the teas unsweetened until I finally end up being legitimately hungry. Then I eat a healthy meal and repeat the process.

There's something about the "heaviness" of the chocolate tea that lets me fight the craving without the sugar attached. I guess I just missed the darker flavor.
