Joanne, The Formula is a diet by Gene and Joyce Daoust. It is a 40-30-30 diet, meaning you eat 40% carbs 30% protein and 30% fat at every meal. I was doing really well on it last year, and then my daughter got sick and needed surgery, so I had to put it on hold, as she was on ww and everything in her house was geared for that. This requires eating a bit differently.

Here is the website if you want to take a peak at it. It might be just what you need to finish. http://www.randomhouse.com/features/formula/

I started back at aqua areobics today, and boy am I tired. Haven't worked so hard for a long time. Will take a week to get myself back into the swing of things.

I will go take a look at Sears and see if they carry Balance shoes. We don't have Penny's in Canada.

Default Hi

Guess we are back to yakking!!Good!!!I lost weight once by walking every day and eating low fat. I usually eat right but I eat TOO MUCH! Going away to work next week so I have to be in a good mindset because the food is fattening and you get hungry from working straight through. I rest a lot at home. Masseuse told me I was holding my foot tense-hence pain in my whole leg . I feel achy today and I want to plant bulbs!!And get my geraniums ready to take in, It;s cool here. Went to a quilting meeting last night. Met some nice people from this area!!I'm going to make a quilt for my grandaughter for Christmas. You can't eat and quilt at the same time!!!.Be good everyone. Mima

Hi Gals and welcome Auntie

We have finallly finished the deck - finished staining this a.m.

Glad the weather has been so good in the high 80's most of the time.

Back to more babysitting - daughter has work meetings etc -= her maternity leave is over this month and its back to the old schedule. Of course with their university courses - things are busy. The kids are sleeping over every Monday night till this
semester is over.

I have New Balance and yes they are available almost everywhere that I know of in Canada. I bought them for walking outdoors in the cooler weather, when I have to wear the big thick woolen socks. I find them to be quite good. I wear Nike, Air Max , all the time in the summer. I also have orthodics to put in them.

I also find that some of the Rockport shoes are wonderful. I have
a pair of hiking/walking shoes from Rockport that I wear outdoors in the winter - they have good grip. I cannot wear boots, not enough support in most of them for me.

I have expensive feet - and would think that $100. for shoes or sandals , really cheap for me. My sandals this summer were close to $200. on sale, but they are very good.

I am trying to keep busy with my hands ie can't quilt, knit etc and eat at the same time.

Also have lots of sewing to do. Hopefully I will be able to see well enough to get some things done, I find that as long as I am working on lighter colours it is not too bad.

I went to WW this a.m. I have gained 1 lb. this past 2 weeks but that was expected as I was on prednisone again. Then the antibiotics (blame them for everything) I think, triggered the IBS again.

Other than that the fibro is not too bad and I am doing ok.

I went out with my neighbour and her mom to Bingo - first time I have ever gone. I won $100. Likely beginners luck. Her mom is in a wheelchair, so it was really to take her along that I went. It is one of the few things she can do.

We are having a wonderful fall, enjoying every minute of it. Right now we are having a reall downpour, the ground is cracked and dry even tho we had more than the usual amount of rainin Aug.

Tomorrow I plan to work on my fron garden. Wish me luck - I would like to get it all ripped out and replanted if the rain holds off.

Glad to see you are all back chatting again.

Serenity

MEME...WW is working for me right now so I do not need to do anything different cause I am still maintaing! I agree with Joanne on all the stuff she said about the dieting and exercise. There is no quick fix you have to find something and stick to it So if you want to lose more weight why did you by new fall clothes????? They will not fit you then! Oh they are saying now that Atkins works better for men than women too.

Yappy.....don't send me so much mail! For some reason your attachments freeze up my puter and have to keep restarting and it takes up too much time so I can't get to the boards I can't even get back into my mail right now and I'm not shutting down again tonight........................................

Ally..my new Birks came in and they are too tight in the toe on one foot so I have to take them back. You can see that the left shoe in the toe has less room than a regular Boston and I need the room! They are black Boston Microfiber with the soft footbed. You ever try those?

Hi mima and Serenity

Default Hey There

Happy- Thanks for the info on the Forum. I will look into that book.
Meme. I would say you went on a Grand Binge. ! I am trying to do better although it is back to cooking two different meals . My hubby won't eat fish usually so on those days I have to cook him something different.
Mima- I have quilted most of my life. I can eat/snack at the same time. I have made from twin to king bed sized quilts several times. I think this is the first year I haven't made a quilt in several years.I have given away to family everyone except fo one. I have another one started. It will take a long time for this one. I got bored with the standard patterns and now I try to design my own. They turn out pretty good.
Candice -There is a lot of talk about Adkins. Some good ,some bad. I would never try it again.
Hello Serenty. Don't you just hate it when you are doing so well with your diet and then you have to start a medication and it messes everything up? That is one of my problems. I am on a lot of meds. It makes it very hard for me to lose.
Hello Ally, Anagram...Joanne

Amen, Joanne. Someone told me once that you can put on five pounds a year on antiinflammatories. I don't know if that's true or not but it would account for a lot in my case. Plus the gains from not being able to be up and about.

Meme - I did Atkins once when it first was popular and dropped some weight fairly quickly. However after about three weeks, I picked up a kidney infection (which I've almost never had) and since Atkins was supposed to be hard on the kidneys (at least the way it was set up then), I dropped it and I too won't try it again. I know it's done wonders for some but I figured the kidney infection was a sign it wasn't for me.

Thanks for the great greeting, Candice. Your dh and I are practically birthday buddies.

Congrats on your winnings, Serenity! And on your bulbs, Mimia. We're not hot here today but still very sticky. I just turned a/c on because of humidity. Last evening, I was so hot and (almost) cranky and dh turned the fan off (no a/c on). I had to have it back on so he put a sweatshirt on. But I'm not on coumadin and must wear compression hose so I guess putting a sweatshirt on was the best solution.

Meme- I need more carbs than the Adkins diet allows. I got dizzy etc. I also have high colesterol. Large amounts of protien has large amounts of col.I got sick.
Anagram- I read that too. Protien in large amounts is not good. I also feel that although dropping weight fast is something we all want to do it is not good for us in the long run. When we lose it slowly and steady we keep it off longer. Otherwise we gain it back fast and more of it as well.
I sewed most of the day today and have almost finished another dress. Two piece. I plan to cut out a denim skirt and vest tomorrow. Then I will only have another split skirt to cut out and a dress already cut out to finish in the next two weeks. If my hubby will stay out of my hair I might get done in no time.
I have a storm on it's way here. I hope we do get some rain. My grass is curling up. Bye for now...Hello all...Joanne

Happy B-Day Anagram...
That is as far as I got on catching up on your posts.
Oh, what a brutal week. Sugar is the devil
I am caught in its trap.
Well, I was.
I am in sugar withdrawal right now.
Yesterday I ate one of those huge cream filled do nuts without hesitation and within an hour I was sick as a dog. Felt like I was gonna pass out, like my blood sugar was low. Reactive hypoglycemia. The next thing you know, I wanted sugar so bad it was like reefer madness.
So I have been eating tuna fish, and regualr fish. Trying to get protein into my system to even out those carbs.
And Halloween is coming.

I'm so nervous...can't stop eating and can't get anything done! Anybody else get this way sometimes? Can't concentrate, can't think, can't remember what you were going to do. Run around all day and don't get anything done (except eating) and can't seem to STOP doing that, then at the end of the day you are all bloated and tired out from doing nothing and disgusted with yourself!? Why is that??? Or...maybe I should say...WHAT is that?
