Tami- I agree, I am excited for my daughter. She is growing up so fast. She has had a weight problem for many years now, and I have always believed that she had to want to do something about it herself. Everytime I have joined WW or whatever, I have tried to get her to do it too. But I never belittled her about her weight- I wanted her to know that her weight doesn't define who she is.
I can't wait to post our pics of us going in the right direction. I think that we will be able to see results that we don't see looking at ourselves or one another every day.

oh and I found the teen forum when I was looking through the different support forums and she went earlier and posted there. I hope that she will find some friends who understand where she is coming from and that they can help one another. :-)

Jodi- I am so glad she found a teen forum to help her along. It is always a wonderful thing to find people who share in our struggles and successes who have a common bond! I am sooo glad you don't nitpick her about her weight, from experience I know this doesn't work. When I was going through puberty my mother liked to tell me how I needed to be careful or I would be fat (like her). She constantly criticized me about my weight. I weighed a whole 100 pounds at 5'3"! And I thought that was fat!! Damn what I wouldn't give to be 100 pounds now, LOL

I drive a school bus and work with teens on a daily basis. I see everyday what some of these girls go through. Many teens are just plain mean to others, especially the girls who are a bit heavy. I make it a point to try to reinforce the idea that they (my kids) are beautiful regardless of what others try to tell them. I even share information on good eating habits with them.

I am also happy for you! I just sense that you will do this for you! Best wishes and I am looking forward to some progress pics. I'd post some but I really am camera shy!
